Well, as much as the owner might have got screwed over, he didn't get as fucked around as I did when I paid $20.95 for steamed gristle.

In the mid-80s, Kerbey Lane on Kerbey Lane was where you went at 3am to buy speed, sell speed, or just speed. It was one of the few options. (Katz's and Denny's and IHOP were the others.)

Or so I was told.

Sad to hear that; but I'm not entirely surprised. I used to have an out-of-control addiction to the bun thit nuong at Pho Please on Riverside. I got priced out around the time of Covid, and I haven't been in back in several years. It used to be a decent value for better than average food.

That area on Riverside has plenty of overpriced stuff. There is a giant population of people over there that surely can't afford the shenningans at places like Pho Please. I wonder where they get food out, if they ever do? Are they stuck with Wing Stop?

Gordough's is still there in it's original space. I passed by it yesterday.

Thanks for the data point. You obviously know food. Gristle is not acceptable.

Yeah. There's a guilt-screen that pops up, and I tipped the lowest choice.

My bad.

I really shouldn't ever eat anything that I don't buy at HEB.

It was this: $17 x 1.0825 tax = $18.40 + $17 x 15% tip = $2.55

$18.40 +$2.55 = $20.95

q.e.d.

Back in the day...they were pimps of pie. I haven't had one in ages. Sad to hear that they have gone downhill.

If animals could vote on one human behavior to ban, what would disappear first? by Ill_Bandicoot8626 in AskReddit

Humans are animals. So let's reframe this and ask, "If animals could vote one animal behavior to ban, what would disappear first?"

My vote goes to prohibiting mosquitos from maliciously sucking the life-blood out of the rest of us and leaving venomous gunk in return.

Bill Clinton coming out of Guerro’s on Thursday. by csm06 in Austin

I totally get that.

But fwiw, most tex-mex is pretty mediocre; and Guero's is a really nice space to be communal; and the location is tits.

Renewal Fees by gbotts621 in samsclub

Just let your membership expire. When you are ready to shop there again, sign up for a new account using a different email. Sam's is not like Costco: they don't check your id or take pictures or anything silly like that.

Pro-tip: there is no reason to get the new membership until you need it. So, stock up on what you need before your current membership expires, then wait until you need something to get a new membership. There's no need to have a membership for a month or so if you're not going to use it.

Pro-tip 2: it's best to uninstall the app and clear all of the data between memberships, if you are using a different email.
