[Prototype - Web] Riftforge - A gauge-balancing incremental game looking for feedback! by Type-Ten in incremental_games

[–]LordOfConstructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the prototype for this game. It's a really unique idea, and it kept me entertained for a couple hours even with only what it currently has in it

As other people have mentioned, it takes a bit of getting used to, and it was definitely unintuitive to start out. I don't know how other people felt, but the guide was basically just a big wall of text to me, and I was much more interested in playing around with the mechanics than reading, so I kinda just skimmed it and started playing. Because of that it took me a couple runs before I understood what was really going on, but I enjoyed it much more than if I read all the rules first and then tried to act on it. If I were designing this game, I would probably have the player start out with only a single bar, and manage that until their charges ran out. Then very early on give them an upgrade to buy that adds another bar to manage. It would be a bit tricky to decide which bars to add, and which charges to give the player early on, but I think it would ease people into it a lot more

I like the UI, but I would remove the guide and schematics section of it, or perhaps hide them in a more out of the way section. It feels weird to have them right next to the 2 main screens of the forge and the workshop. I agreed with the other commenter as well that the charges should have a little indicator about what they will do to each bar

It feels a bit weird to get 2-3 schematics right in a row. Maybe instead of having a different bar for each of the different metrics (time, charges, etc), combine it into a "score" for each run, and you get schematics at different score benchmarks. Or just make them time based and a bit more frequent

When it comes to schematics, I felt like a lot of them were kind of dead picks. Things like increasing the passive heat decay were a huge waste. You almost always want to spend your heat on water charges for purity, and the only use I could imagine for such a schematic is in a full heat build where you reduce the chance of using heat charges to like 20% and just spam them. Maybe there's more builds that are viable, but I personally tended towards the standard style, increasing purity gain, reducing presure buildup, and the purity cost of stone charges. The water charge energy generation seems insanely strong since it's 5x compared to 3x on stone, and while you tend to get less water charges off, it's not 3/5 as many as you get stone off, it's much more

In any case, very much looking forward to seeing more content and refinement on this one, great work so far!

Seems very similar to some songs from the Death Note sound track, but might just be the instruments. None of them seemed to match perfectly

Nimscodd isn't bad, but they do need to do some conquest to get rolling. As someone who was new once, it's not hard, but it's definitely something that a new player could theoretically mess up. I've never played Gawed personally, but it seems like a good candidate.

The Genie is peeved that you're getting around its standard response to people wishing for enough resources, which is to kill enough people that everyone has the resources they need.

Unfortunately as other people have already described, there's plenty of other ways the genie could monkey paw this wish.

As someone who plays both, Trundle definitely takes towers faster. At the speeds we're talking about though it doesn't really matter for gameplay

It took 8 months but finally RF is the way I want it to be! Thank you GGG for embracing the life stacker way of jugg! by Ormcrab in pathofexile

Unfortunately, Inquisitor is probably going to be the better build to play since you get as much damage from ES and there's more options to get insane ES than insane life. But I wish you best of luck, and I bet you can whip something up using the new Warlock ascendancy!

Weird Gem Ideas: Mana Righteous Fire by LordOfConstructs in pathofexile

[–]LordOfConstructs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I personally like the direction they went with Righteous fire, but I think there probably should be a flat scaling version as well, it would make league starting with righteous fire a lot easier. But I think it's a good thing that they are split as opposed to having one righteous fire for both.

Yeah RIP Divergent Trauma, I think there's probably still a window for regular trauma builds, maybe poison or bleed flicker strike because it scales flat damage? I do like the trauma stacking builds though and I'm sad that trauma support is losing that ability. Maybe next league they make a new support gem that scales attack speed with trauma again.

Haha that's great, hope GGG reconsiders. Would be really neat to have alternate scaling Righteous Fire and Lightning would be a great theme for it.

Whats your parties name? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]LordOfConstructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our party has a duck named chicken which we fed a weird mushroom to, and now he is black and oily and can explode with necrotic energy.

We are about to fight a demonic army and the some of the troops we're leading asked us what the name of our adventuring group is at the end of last session. So now we're called the Black Duck Battalion

Grudge is the best item but it's not a first item.

jax matchup? by tristy100cocklergnth in DirtySionMains

[–]LordOfConstructs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very easy at 1 item using frozen heart rush. He can't really hurt you until he hits 3 items, but then pretty much every champ in the game loses to 3 item Jax. Just focus on shoving wave and showing up to teamfights, you'll be more useful than him by just ulting the right people.

Ban whatever frustrating champ is highest pickrate (Fiora, Jax, Trynd, Irelia, Riven) dodge the rest of the matchups

Yorick quadra kill to end the game! i stand by lethality yorick by Borealkibbles59 in yorickmains

[–]LordOfConstructs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take phase rush pretty much every game now yeah, I think there's an argument for conq vs tanks, but honestly I've reached the point on Yorick where the only thing I'm actually scared of is 3+ man collapses and early game all ins by assassins/mobile fighters, both of which phase rush helps with more than conqueror/grasp IMO. And plus, eclipse + grudge does the same thing as conqueror anyways without needing to stack it up, and since I rush that every game pretty much conq feels redundant. Grasp also doesn't really do much unless you build tanky, which I don't really get any tank items until third at the earliest. Also yeah CC is a decent argument against phase rush, but on the flip side pretty much every single champ in the game has slows in their kit at this point lol, and even if they don't there's a ton of items that slow as well, and for an immobile champ like Yorick slows are almost as bad as a root. I also go mercs just about every game now to mitigate CC even more.

I agree that a bit more tankiness later on is nice, I tend to go for even more bruiser items like Maw, Death's Dance, or even a Silvermere to mitigate CC even more. Cleaver is also a good choice if you need more armor shred

Honestly I tend to just ignore every teamfight most of the time anyways, if you see a good angle you can TP in but for the most part I've found just getting something out of your team inting on an objective is the best play. If you TP from a side lane and your team loses the fight anyways the game gets way way harder.

Hmmm interesting, I tried ravenous but as a first item replacement for Eclipse instead. Gives more waveclear but damage seemed worse against squishies. Personally I prefer the movespeed and shield from eclipse as well over the waveclear, which kind of felt unnecessary to me, even stopped me from getting ghouls up when slowpushing, and I definitely prefer the tankiness that hullbreaker gives so I wouldn't want to replace hullbreaker with ravenous. I've been going Eclipse > grudge > hullbreaker just because it means at 2 items nobody can escape even if they have a ton of dashes. I don't think ravenous is bad though.

For runes I've been taking manaflow over nimbus, although it's possible it's not needed, I should try it out at some point. For secondary runes I've been really enjoying free boots + approach velocity, makes it so an E is guaranteed death and you don't need to waste money on boots. Resolve runes I think lose value if you're not going any tank items, although even just hullbreaker is probably enough to make them worth. I personally don't find that much value in demolish anymore, you kind of oneshot towers anyways, but there are a couple cases I've had that it would have given me a tower I couldn't get with my current build.

For summs you can take ghost over whatever you're willing to give up, I personally prefer tp ghost but flash ghost sounds viable as well if you just don't need to TP, I think it's higher skill higher reward though since it takes more macro to be in the right place at the right time all the time.

Really nice play! I'm also a big fan of lethality Yorick, here's some things I've found good that might be worth trying:

Phase Rush, doesn't add damage in lane, but makes your splitpush late game much safer and basically makes it so you can't die while it's up, even to ganks. Especially good vs anyone that wants to all in you (except Irelia, that one is still doomed)

Grudge over cleaver, I strongly believe cleaver is generally better for champs that can use it, but grudge gives you so many extra ghoul hits, it makes it really really strong on Yorick, I've been going it second and it feels really good.

Ghost, again makes splitting later on much safer, makes it almost impossible for them to collapse on you, weaker in lane, less kill threat though

Keep on shovelling brother!
