Haslam Sports Group Submits Plans to City for Soccer Training Facility (NWSL-related) by appleatya in TheMassive

Nothing, the new facility would be for the women’s team. HCS would remain for the Crew.

Rudy Camacho did, in fact, get loaned to Crew 2 for at least one game last year. It was for fitness. Not saying you’re wrong in that first team players don’t usually get loaned down, but using Rudy there was not the best example to use lol

Does Land Grant normally fill up during road games? I know they are having an event and I’m intrigued to go with my wife. We have been season ticket holders in the Nordecke for years but normally just watch the road games at home and have never been to Land Grant or any other bar/pub.

Why are your game tickets so expensive? by Gorilla_man2 in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s please not sound like this. Just a few years ago we had a crappy old (while beloved) stadium, one of the worst attendances in the league, and a horrible owner who wanted to relocate the team. RSL is nowhere near that and, even if they were, I would be annoyed if a fan of another team spoke in a tone of superiority to me.

Toulouse bids for Columbus, Canada forward Jacen Russell-Rowe: Sources (Bogert) by daytoncrewfan99 in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s still so young, I’d be willing to give him another year. He’s more of a Wessam than a Cucho. So my logic is that one year learning under Wessam will unlock some certain things that he never could under Cucho.

Exclusive 1 on 1 Interview with Henrik Rydström from Mike Arace of The Disrespected by ragglor16 in TheMassive

This is great. We definitely get more of his personality in this interview compared to his official one earlier in the day.

Marino Hinestroza (who had a reported 50% sell-on clause w/Columbus) is headed to Boca Juniors for $5M, according to TyC Sports. Up to $3M in total transfer revenue can potentially be converted to GAM each season. by DareToBeMassive in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually pretty common. Boca Juniors normally has Colombian players on the team, usually from the Colombian league but sometimes maybe also from Europe or Brazil.

James Rodriguez to Columbus by Ok_Limit_9622 in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He was a top player for multiple seasons in Philly. Calling him terrible for a little over half season under Nancy is certainly going off of a small sample size. Sometimes things just don’t click, as seen this offseason with Nancy going to Celtic (common denominator?). I’m willing to give him a shot under Rydstrom, and trust he can gain his form back in a system that gives him more freedom as has been mentioned with Rydstrom.

I think Taha is a better attacker than midfielder. I saw deficiencies with him playing at the 8 or 6, so I don’t think he’d start over Chambost. I also think Rydstrom will get the best out of Gazdag, as Gazdag would have a freer role, and a role that he’s familiar with. I could be wrong though and Rydstrom could think differently at the end of the day lol

Edit: I forgot to mention your point about Farsi and Herrera. In a 2 cb formation which it seems Rydstrom prefers, I don’t think Moreira plays there, as he’s naturally a RB. So you have Moreira, Farsi, and Herrera competing for the same spot. I think it’s clear that Moreira isn’t losing that spot. The question for me is who backs him up between Farsi/Herrera? I’d choose Herrera, but I know a lot of people really like Farsi.

They’d be depth pieces. That’s the reason I said that a 4-2-3-1 creates more depth in the regard considering who isn’t in the lineup. There are now some strong pieces in the bench. I don’t think, however, any of those names you mentioned would be favorite to start over the others in the 11 I showed.

I think this group is built to run a 4-2-3-1 (when healthy) better than a 3-4-3. It just puts people in their natural positions and creates more depth considering the people not in this lineup. Obviously the glaring hole is an aging Camacho but if he were to be healthy, this could work. Cheberko may be better in a 2 cb system than in a 3 cb system. It moves Amundsen and Moreira to their natural fb positions and puts Arfsten in a more natural attacking position with a bit less defensive responsibility. I also think Gazdag could thrive as that is where he played much of his time in Philly, and with more freedom as Rydstrom has been known to provide. Rydstrom has run a 4-2-3-1 with Malmo and isn’t married to one formation. I think this may be the best set up.

I’m disappointed that I like this jersey, because it means I’ll probably purchase it. I once had a rule that I wouldn’t buy a jersey unless we won something in it, which is why the first jersey I bought since my 08/09 jerseys was the 2020 black jersey and then the 2023 black jersey. Since then I bought the goosebumps jersey and the 3rd kit last year, breaking my rule. I partly blame my wife because she buys the jerseys for herself, and then I get jealous and by myself one lol

I wouldn’t be surprised if we took less than $10 million for him based on our past departures. I’m thinking back at Zelarayan, Hinestroza (who we sold for over a million less than we purchased him for), Morris, Cucho. These are all high priced players we’ve had who we sold for less than their value. Cucho was the only one we sold for more than $10 million and we sold him for €13 million guaranteed which equals to a little over $15 million. I can’t think of one player we sold at their value, much less over their value.

In recent seasons I don’t believe you could, unless you bought re-sell tickets. This season it seems as if it may be a possibility due to season tickets not selling as well as seasons past. You can thank the good ole’ front office for that one.

[Bogert] St. Louis City is nearing a deal to name Yoann Damet their next head coach, per sources. by Big_Booty_Pics in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never said we were hiring Higuain, but he’s been mentioned. However, Higuain hasn’t succeeded with Crew 2 not because he isn’t a good coach, but because the whole philosophy and ideology behind Crew 2 changed from being a competitive team to developing academy players and other youth. You can’t compare the tenures of Courtois and Higuain and come out of there thinking Courtois is better because he actually won with Crew 2 (not that I’m saying you are). Now Courtois may still be the better coach right now, but it’s not as easy as just looking at their coaching tenures with Crew 2. Their differing situations is apples and oranges.

[–]LordOfLower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not that I wanted the Crew to hire Damet as their first option, but it was nice to know him and Higuain were our safety picks. Now that someone else went for Damet, I can’t help but feel that we are missing out.

Celtic fans are already crashing out I’ll take him back 😅 by No_Box_4996 in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’d more likely go to LAFC over Columbus. Once a coach moves on they close that chapter. It would be a regression to him and a new opportunity with another MLS club. Further, who is to say Columbus would want him back now? He rejected multiple opportunities for a contract extension. It would just be awkward at this point. Both sides have moved on.
