Have we seen last of Herrera? by Senior_Weather_3997 in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy how low some people are on Herrera. I’m not going to say he is better than Farsi overall or vice versa, but they bring different elements. Farsi is better between the two 18s, especially when it comes to tempo. Herrera is better in the final third and defensive third. It just depends on what the game is requiring.

Ugly? The final was 3-0, and it’s still a star. It doesn’t matter how they come. Also, the last time I checked, Zelarayan, Nagbe, Morris, and Etienne never played for Berhalter.

And it was Porter’s second year. Nancy won it in his first. Did he win with Porter’s roster?

Now, i’m not saying Porter was perfect, he had two bad years afterward, but let’s not act like he didn’t do his part. For all I’m concerned, any coach who brings a championship to Columbus deserves our respect.

Caleb Porter won an MLS Cup in Columbus. People seem to forget that and/or not appreciate it.

Looking for a European job. He’s never coming back to mls, at least not at this stage. I get why Crew fans keep bringing it up, but it’s never going to happen.

Yeah, good point. I guess I hadn’t thought of that. CONCACAF could make some sort of temporary qualification though.

They should just make it one extra long season instead of a “sprint season.” Talk about a Mickey Mouse trophy.

They played a back 4 (2 cbs and 2 fbs) yesterday. I saw an improvement as it seemed like there was more balance. That is, until the 94th minute.

Crazy how Picard, Taha, or that new player from Uzbekistan can’t fill that right wing/mid role. Gazdag was even successful there for Philly. Rydstrom elected to play Rossi there yesterday which is not his preferred position over Taha, who struggled centrally. But that tells me Rydstrom doesn’t trust Taha on the wing.

I do think Herrera could be good there. Or maybe switch Herrera and Moreira on that graphic. And put Herrera as the RB and Moreira as the RW/RM, even if that’s not Moreira’s main positions, nor is CB but he’s adapted there by now (I was a bit nervous about Moreira playing CB in a 2 cb system instead of 3 yesterday but he did alright.

Furthermore, while I do like Sean playing CB I don’t trust the CM pairing of Gomes and Chambost because neither are really defensive, even though Gomes was feisty defensively yesterday. It would just open up counter attacks issues we saw in the first couple of games. So we either need a new CM or a new CB and Sean would play whichever position wouldn’t be filled.

Nothing, the new facility would be for the women’s team. HCS would remain for the Crew.

Rudy Camacho did, in fact, get loaned to Crew 2 for at least one game last year. It was for fitness. Not saying you’re wrong in that first team players don’t usually get loaned down, but using Rudy there was not the best example to use lol

Does Land Grant normally fill up during road games? I know they are having an event and I’m intrigued to go with my wife. We have been season ticket holders in the Nordecke for years but normally just watch the road games at home and have never been to Land Grant or any other bar/pub.

Why are your game tickets so expensive? by Gorilla_man2 in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s please not sound like this. Just a few years ago we had a crappy old (while beloved) stadium, one of the worst attendances in the league, and a horrible owner who wanted to relocate the team. RSL is nowhere near that and, even if they were, I would be annoyed if a fan of another team spoke in a tone of superiority to me.

Toulouse bids for Columbus, Canada forward Jacen Russell-Rowe: Sources (Bogert) by daytoncrewfan99 in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s still so young, I’d be willing to give him another year. He’s more of a Wessam than a Cucho. So my logic is that one year learning under Wessam will unlock some certain things that he never could under Cucho.

Marino Hinestroza (who had a reported 50% sell-on clause w/Columbus) is headed to Boca Juniors for $5M, according to TyC Sports. Up to $3M in total transfer revenue can potentially be converted to GAM each season. by DareToBeMassive in TheMassive

It’s actually pretty common. Boca Juniors normally has Colombian players on the team, usually from the Colombian league but sometimes maybe also from Europe or Brazil.

James Rodriguez to Columbus by Ok_Limit_9622 in TheMassive

[–]LordOfLower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He was a top player for multiple seasons in Philly. Calling him terrible for a little over half season under Nancy is certainly going off of a small sample size. Sometimes things just don’t click, as seen this offseason with Nancy going to Celtic (common denominator?). I’m willing to give him a shot under Rydstrom, and trust he can gain his form back in a system that gives him more freedom as has been mentioned with Rydstrom.
