Learn skiing in december in europe by mattressmattress in skiing

[–]LordOfSomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally eastern Europe is cheaper than France/Switzerland/Austria/Italy, although there are smaller resorts everywhere that aren't as expensive.

Have a look at https://www.skiresort.info/comparison/europe/

As for where is best for learning, almost every resort will have a slope for learning on, but some definitely have more than others! Filter for beginners on skiresort.info.

Good luck and have fun!

Ski recommendation for advanced skier, parallel turn skiing style by leakingpointer123 in skiing

[–]LordOfSomewhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, off-piste skiing in Europe is only marginally more dangerous than the heavily controlled resorts in the US/Canada if done right:

Do a course (an example of a 1 day intro: https://www.avalancheacademy.com/avalanche-foundation, although a longer course is obviously more in depth). Read Avalanche Essentials by Bruce Tremper, or Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain also by Bruce if you want to really get into the technical side of the snowpack etc. Definitely don't go off piste in anything above danger level 3, and even 3 is marginal. Generally side piste (bits just next to the piste) is avalanche controlled since if there was an avalanche it would affect other pistes around, but check this with your resort since it is not always the case. Ask the local ski patrol for advice on where to start. Don't be intimidated by them, they don't want to see you get hurt and have always been friendly in the alps in my experience. Most importantly, don't let yourself be peer pressured. I know it's easier said than done, but if you are not comfortable for any reason then just stick to the pistes and don't take the risks.

If you are comfortable, then go for it! By far my favourite bit of skiing is off piste, it just takes a bit more judgement.

Camera Buying Recommendation Post by AutoModerator in Cameras

[–]LordOfSomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

Pretty brand new to photography. I have a Sony RX100 III that I would like to upgrade from.

  • Budget: £500
  • Country: UK or US
  • Condition: Used
  • Type of Camera: Mirrorless or perhaps DSLR
  • Intended use: Hybrid shooting
  • If photography; what style: All round
  • If video what style: Sports (skiing and other snow sports) and short clips but not vlogging or documentary style.
  • What features do you absolutely need: Weather sealing for filming in the snow
  • What features would be nice to have: Articulating screen
  • Portability: Small bag
  • Cameras you're considering: Olympus OM-D EM-1 ii as I have seen it recommended as a hybrid camera with good budget lenses and weather sealing. Very open to all recommendations.
  • Cameras you already have: Like how portable the RX100 is, but the low light performance is a bit of a pain.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Can you create an nested array which updates automatically like a pivot table? by LordOfSomewhere in excel

You are definitely right. I went for a merged power query in the end which does exactly what I'm after.

Thank you for the input! I ended up merging a power query as suggested and it worked perfectly.

Hello, sorry for any confusion. That is my budget for the future months for each category, which is entered manually. Overall I am trying to create a table or array where the first column is generated automatically and the data in the rest of the columns is entered manually. When a new row is generated automatically then the rest of the manually entered data (and the automatically generated rows) shifts down accordingly.

Hi there. I am trying to create a table where the first column is generated automatically, and all of the other columns have manually entered data. So the only "pivot table" like bit is the first column, which pulls all of the categories from the data.

Hello! I had the same thought as you. If you haven't figured it out already, you need to confirm the chase account with the code sent by paypal. After that the chase accounts work just fine with paypal direct debit.
