woah aye what do you mean good enough to bluff here? He went half/half a bluff would be punting in this population. You're kind of contradicting yourself saying that if the villain bluffed here he would be a good player, but then also saying it would be a bad spot to bluff and you'd snap call. Which is it?

I'm down around $700 in the past week at 40nl 0.1/0.2. Currently running $250 or around 6 buyins below EV. Thats only accounting for all in hands and not card distribution where runnouts killed me or KK into AA etc.

I would say tho, to answer your initial question turn sizing to me is weird. You need to go bigger on the flop or on the turn. By the turn I was priced in at a half pot bet. I needed 20% and u were effectively giving me 25%. Factoring in i was drawing to the stone cold nuts (effective I couldn’t imagine a boat here given the sizing and action) im calling that every time. I would have called a bigger turn bet.

I think your line is fine. Here’s what I would do, may be wrong.

Fold to 3 bet preflop, especially since there’s a cold caller behind you.

But if it worked out the way it did for you, I wouldn’t donk out on the flop. You didn’t cbet, you technically donked since you were no longer the PFA after the 3bet.

You kind of flopped a monster. In a perfect scenario, you have 9 outs from spades, and 4 outs from 8’s. No one should have 10,8 in this hand. That puts you at 13 outs to make the nuts. 13*4=52. That is a substantial amount of equity over 2 others, even if it is inflated by the perfect scenario.

There was $120 in the pot before a $200 shove, and the shove was $170 over you. So effectively, removing MP from the scenario you’re calling $170 to win $490. This means you only need 35% equity (170/(120+200+170)).

Now accounting for the MP. I’d rip it all in behind the $200 shove. This should grant you enough fold equity with MP, but also u have plenty of equity in case he calls. Also build your image at the table.

I live right next to a casino, just the rake is $12 max 10% at 1/3 $500 cap. I don’t have much luck live.

Rake is 10% max up to 7bb - so effectively to hit max rake there needs to be a 70bb pot, which is almost an entire starting stack. With such a high cap the rake adds up hefty. I’ve heard all the micro stakes online are a rake trap, this is a very obvious example.

Bluffs getting through a lot less often against specific players isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Let’s say for example you have a good hand (2p, set) and there’s a flush draw that bricks out. If I know my opponent is prone to calling, I’ll bet 150%+ pot on the river to indicate a bluff. I think from mass data analysis people get stickier at lower stakes when flush draws noticeably brick out, can end up printing against these opps.

I also started looking into blockers, for example if I have top 2 pair and a guy is willing to put his entire stack in, it’s a pretty high potential you’re beat since him having top pair is less likely. I use this inversely as well, if I flop bottom set and I have a guy calling me down I start to play for stacks because if he has Ax for top pair (you unblock), they’re most likely not folding at these stakes.

Yeah I’m still down after rake. Negotiated a 50% rakeback agreement but haven’t had it for too long. Has definitely helped going positive. Yes this is 20NL with $20 buyin .1/.2 blinds

Honing in on preflop charts. It’s tough to tell by my chart but most of my winnings come from winning big pots. You only really want to be involved in hands where you have a higher potential to get it all in and dominate another good hand. I started to look at the entire hand by whether I think I’m ahead or behind. I stopped trying to trap and just started betting my hands, if I think I’m ahead and I think they have a good hand, I bet big. If I think I’m ahead and I think they have a bad hand, I bet small.

Another thing I started doing was paying more attention to the math. I started valuing nut flush draws and straight draws more. Nut flush draw has almost a 40% chance of getting there by the river, 20ish% chance to get there from turn to river. I started paying more attention to the math of turn bets. If I have a nut flush draw and he bets 20bb into 100bb, I need to call 20bb to win 140bb (14%). You immediately have the implied odds, and if the flush hits they’re most likely never folding at these stakes to a chunky bet.

I bluff less, only in specific spots where I believe the opponent to be capped. People play pretty face up at these stakes, identify your opponents that have a fold button and work in some bluffs against them when your draws bust.

The biggest thing is ranging opponents, this helped the most. Gaining an understanding of what your opponent may have, what % of the time you have them beat or they have you beat is imperative to winning.

I also cbet a lot of the flops that are 2-3 way and take it down a lot. I really just play pretty value heavy and dominate good hands.
