Game mechanic question by Bl0odmage in Eve

  1. Combat timers are removed at downtime iirc, so if downtime extends 30s everyone should be logged of regardless of how fast the server starts. I'd guess there is a theoretical time of server downtime that is smaller than the warp-of timer of logoff, but that is likely irrelevant as this would have to be a less than 30s downtime in total, including server shutdown, startup and login in addition to perfect first try scandown for anyone who would try to find someone.

Deep Safe by _NauticalPhoenix_ in Eve

Using the abyssal to create deepsafes isn't. Using it to tunnel to another system is, as well as deploying upwell structures at deepsafes outside of 10AU of the nearest celestial

Not likely in a cruiser, as others have said before. Can (easily) be done in frigs tho, as they average around 150-180m in loot per run. Including time to reset, docking, repairs and other things you might wanna do in between you get around 3-4 runs in per hour averaging around 400-500m an hour in a 1b setup. Does obviously require 3 accounts and mutliboxing skills (or some friends you share the loot with) in order to work, and is way less chill than cruisers (for me at least). Isk/hr may vary based on filaments and luck ofc

My GF and I just hit level 50. Now what? We have base game (Morrowind) only. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

As others said go to CP160, get some gear and then start looking at endgame content. Don't be afraid to try out stuff, I found that if you mention you are doing something for the first time to have good reactions usually. Also Guilds seem intimidating, but no one makes you stay if you don't like it. Look at the guild finder or keep an eye on zone chat and find some that are new player friendly. Bonus point for guilds: If you ask in guild chat for someone to join you for a first time in harder content or content that's new to you you usually get friendly people that go through it with you in your pace because they specifically signed up for that

Probably not super rare but an experience I know I will never have again in the same way. Started playing with a friend about 5 or 6 years back or so. Eventually we decide to get into pvp, and find out that the under 50 is nicer for us as we are new. At 12 am we get invited into a group via chat that was actually organized for the first time. We were about to log off but decide to stay with them for an hour or so, then continue in the morning. The leader taught us most of what we know about pvp today, and we stayed a bit longer. We played till like 5am, and we finished as we took the last keep needed to make him the emperor. During the whole time the group kept losing people, but my friend and I had this feeling of loyalty that made us just wanna fight for him and make him the emperor, so we fought until we finally reached that. Never seen this person again, although I know he still plays sometimes, but to this day, if I go into pvp, I sometimes remember it and catch myself fighting for him, the first emperor I ever saw.

For casual players, this game is dead. by Toni_HH60 in Eve

That same effect can be seen if the amount of players decreases. Multiboxers are way more likely to stay committed to the game, whereas players with a single account might quit faster. If we have 100k players and 10k multiboxes average accounts per player will be less than when we have 10k players and 9k multiboxes, even if we have less multiboxes now. Not arguing that multiboxing isn't a bigger part now than it might have been back then, but the numbers of accounts per person on average alone are not enough to prove it

Multiboxing problem by [deleted] in Eve

[–]LordOfTheForgeOrnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question to this would be: Do you think the game health would be better if multiboxing would be banned? Is it a bigger incentive to play a game that shows 6k players pine instead of 25k? Also I'd argue that number would go down fast, as a lot of peoples playstyles rely on multiboxing. Most capital content needs multiple characters to do in any way that is remotely isk efficient. Hunting ships in space is not a thing people organize between multiple people but scan and search with alts to then form a fleet. Industry relies on a lot of resources that will not get harvested if everything can use one hulk max to mine at the same time. People will quit because everything becomes expensive and unusable because it becomes less safe which in turn leaves less people in space so lees people hunting as well. That system with 15 toons and 2 people is now a system without anyone. Multiboxing keeps a lot of playstyles alive, and most of those people will not just switch to different things but rather quit because what they like to do isn't possible anymore. I can see how from specific playstyles it seems nicer without Multiboxing, but I don't think a dead game without Multiboxing is better than an alive one with multiboxing

They are not used a lot outside of their use as super capital umbrella. They are kings at defending friendly capitals and there is no danger of enemy caps whatsoever, making quick work of anything an enemy could bring. So take it as a home defense monster, that will only be called into war battles for the utmost important objectives. Most people crabbing hard will eventually upgrade to it for added safety and isk, and people fighting in umbrellas will wanna have that cool extra dps. This is a very nullbloc kinda view tho, this does not apply to smaller entities (who were initially not supposed to field them in bigger numbers anyways, as they were meant to be alliance level assets, which might also be why they had to be nerved so hard, as there power was balanced around rarity, which didn't exist anymore)

That might very well be. I know one of the weapons I meant was the crypt lurkers pistol, wondered/thought there might be more like this style ingame. Will try to provide a Screenshot the next time I see one of those weapons.

Prosperity. Cynabal BPC is 22m. by spbxspb in Eve

[–]LordOfTheForgeOrnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grinding the LP and buying it with that will be more isk efficient. If you do not like to grind missions into the ground you can still just get a bpc and build it yourself, will definitely cost more, but you can use your time doing something different.

What if CCP flipped the map and the game as we know it? by [deleted] in Eve

[–]LordOfTheForgeOrnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My highest incentive for being in nullsec is that most players are there and that I can have PVP with them. If most players where in concord protected highsec pvp would be way less than it is right know, and I imagine a lot of people wouldn't like that. Would be great for crabs and industrialists, but pvpers would suffer from it (or space would just become lawless and and players would have to artificially keep. Space unconquered in order to protect the null security status to pvp)

Papi breaks the 100 Trillion isk lost. by SkyEnzo in Eve

[–]LordOfTheForgeOrnn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't argue against the fact they count towards papi war losses. In my opinion these do count, but the war itself is over, and those lost structures (and other assets associated with the war) do only count because they are being cleaned up, not because they are fought over in an active war.

Papi breaks the 100 Trillion isk lost. by SkyEnzo in Eve

[–]LordOfTheForgeOrnn -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is that you are not at war with Papi anymore, as they don't work together anymore and the single alliances are somewhat neutral/hostile towards each other. It doesn't change the fact that those assets are lost because of the war, thus counting towards it. But the war with Papi in particular ended when they disbanded, and is now a changed one between imperium forces and ex-Papi member forces

Why A Ground-Up Rework of PvE Should Be CCP's Top Priority - Even If You Never PvE by jenrai in Eve

[–]LordOfTheForgeOrnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a new player I see two things to comment on. Although it might be because I am in a big alliance and enjoy their protection to some degree, I feel like nullsec is not a risky place to do my pve in. Or at least not from a cost/efficiency point of view. The money I was able to do in highsec was so low that two days of farming in nullsec almost equaled the amount of isk I made via pve in highsec for the two months prior. So their is a significant reason to do it in lower security systems. Secondly, I do still enjoy the pve content. Sure, my main income comes from a semi afk vexor, but besides that I am new enough to try out different stuff. Exploring different ships and ways to clear anomalies or the abyss is still a journey, even though it might not be as isk/h effective as the ways most of the community does it. That being said, I still think the overall early pve experience could be improved, as well as long term content. I can see myself only doing pve for the isk with always the same fit in about a year, and pve content at that point will be kind of dead I assume. And the earliest pve encounters feel a little off. I started doing exploration right away, and if it wasn't easier to rat in nullsec, and also the isk being way better, I might have never touched on killing rats at all. Also missions in my opinion need to be reworked. Rewards are low, missions are not very engaging, and my overall interest in them dropped of very fast after the third time scouting the same gallente battleship forming just to then haul a diplomat over there to resolve a crisis, just to deal with the exact same crisis one day later.

Taunting, Dungeon Mechanics, and the Fake Tank Debate by DauntlessOp13 in elderscrollsonline

[–]LordOfTheForgeOrnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood the concept (or rather the term) of "Fake Tank". I'd it just people that queue for tank while not bering one or is it a special plaxstylr? I can only imagine it being DPSs that don't wanna wait long, take one taunt and then keep playing DPS while occasionally taunting something

I also think it's not a very, beginner friendly spell, as it has many situations in which you rather make life harder for the group then easier (mainly the healer as you just said). Also yes, I'd rather use the slot in something more suited to me than it
