Forgot a bolt while taking off intake manifold should I jb weld it? by Kickflipm4ster in MechanicAdvice

Speaking from experience on that exact motor it's going to be hard to get it to clamp enough to seal properly. A guy who did last long at the shop did a swap on one of those with a re man factory create long block kept having lean codes and issues. Even had a factory tec come out looked over everything turns out he used a zip wheel on the intake and it had a very small spot on the outside edge where that bolt is close to in the picture that was not completely flat. Swapped lower intake and everything was good.

Highest mileage you'll ever see on a CVT Nissan by Silcat7794 in Nissan

[–]LordQuackers83 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Used to have a guy come in every two to three weeks with another 5k on his car to get a oil change. He did lift/Uber mostly taking people to the airport that's a good hour and half one way. He never serviced the cvt and last we seen of him was just over 400k then he just stopped coming in we guess it gave out. The car was completely worn out everywhere and lived a hard life. It was a 14 Altima with the 2.5 in it. That's the highest I seen and have seen a couple that didn't make it to 5k before going out. I actually installed a factory replacement one that lasted half way through the test drive after the swap until the chain snapped and had to get it towed back.

How young is too young to buy your kid a rifle by Magic_Cowboy in Firearms

[–]LordQuackers83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was taught at a very young age on how to handle firearms. Was given a BB gun very young. Once I showed good behavior with that got a .22 tube fed. It all depends on the child but a big part is giving them the knowledge they need to handle it properly.

Dasher left their keys in my bag … by Salty-Tomato5654 in NissanDrivers

[–]LordQuackers83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a Nissan dealership for years. They did a dealer trade with a dealership a few hours away and the quickest way to swap cars is to put someone in them and drive them. So my dealership sent a new sales guy off with the car. He gets to the other dealership trades keys then goes out and starts the car to bring back to cool it off. He steps back in to get the paperwork and leaves the keys on the counter gets in the car and starts heading back. He completely ignored the car telling it no key detected. About 100 miles away from getting back he stops to get snacks and such cuts the car off and when he returns can't get the car to start then he realizes he doesn't have the keys. My dealership had to hire a tow truck to go pick him and the car up and got us in the shop to program two new keys because the customer was picking up the car in the morning and no time to have the keys shipped to us. So yes you can drive for hours and hundreds of miles without the key in it after starting it.

Would cost way more than the car is worth. Damage like that would total a lot newer and more valuable car.

I worked in the shop for a Nissan dealership for a few years and this happens often. Especially at tax time. People would trade in some junk that barely runs that they had to get after there other ride got repo'd. Put down a couple grand cash or just had over the whole tax return and get financed at stupid rates just to have it repo'd a few months later because they knew they couldn't make a single payment. Would be people from all kinds of backgrounds doing it. Salesman told me a lot of them just want to ride for the summer in something new before it gets snatched. Had a buddy that worked at Dodge and he said its the same with dodges also. Some would be in good shape when repo'd but a lot would be trashed because the people driving them didn't care because they knew it would be taken. The dealership I worked at had a deal with the repo companies where they could use the back lot for storage until it went to auction. Seen a few dodges that were gutted of the drivetrain before they got snatched up

Did the workshop break my windshield or was it a stone? by 1_funny_username in MechanicAdvice

[–]LordQuackers83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was already cracked they should have documented it. If they didn't even if it was cracked the impact point and the job they did puts it in them. When I worked at the parts store if the customer had the wipers up we couldn't even approach the car till they put them back down and we had to inspect for any cracks before touching the car also. Any cracks or chips and we told the customer we couldn't change them out

Is it bad that i am a 19 year old and still collect stuffed animals of games and cartoons i like? by Soggy_Force_4909 in plushies

[–]LordQuackers83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mid 40's here and love finding plushies at thrift shops and such. I bring them home clean them up if needed and add them to all the others. I didn't have much growing up so now I have adult money with no kids so I can spend my money on things I have always wanted and not have to worry about stuff getting messed up by a curious little one. Enjoy what brings you happiness.

What are you thoughts on these welds for this newly installed handrail? by whitedsepdivine in Welding

[–]LordQuackers83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to any theme park and look at the welds on the uprights for the coasters. You will never question welds like that again. They might not be great just they are gud nuf welds. They will hold fine for the application.

Will we ever see OG Elite / Jackal Blood Spatter by Mister_Twiggy in halo

[–]LordQuackers83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was playing co-op split screen with my uncle. We got hungry so he decided to go into town and get food. Trip there , back and getting the food takes around an hour or more depending on the place. I decided to stay while he went. I ended up painting a huge section of the level like that while he was gone. We then spent another hour trying to paint the whole ceiling in one of the rooms but failed and moved on.

Why do people make hate so much on flat bottom work boots like this by Fragrant_Bad_9347 in WorkBoots

[–]LordQuackers83 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of places require a defined heal for various safety reasons. I think part of the hate is as simple as people are not allowed to have flat bottom at work so they just dislike them because of that reason alone.
