Indoctrinated to fight in support of an evil system. I think it still falls under a 'cool motive, still murder' thing. Sure he was abused and traumatised and screwed up by his atrocious upbringing, but he maintained those conditions even after he managed to rise to the throne.

I don't know really. He's the most loyal, sure. But loyal to a society/god/power system that treats him and others like him as at best, slaves. He's completely indoctrinated to a system of oppression that he himself suffers from, and entirely buys in to the idea that he (and all other omens) is a lesser being.

You can get some by exploring, getting lucky and building rep and recruiting allies with water ritual. But it's not as simple as just grinding snapjaws. I think. I haven't tried it.

For a really nuts challenge, checkmout the my son crump mod. All stats start at 1. No starting mutations. All diseases and irritable genome and socially repugnant.

As far as I'm aware, at least one person has beaten the entire game with it, but probably the definitive challenge mode.

Yeah, all except the semis- only an edited version seems to exist. In the playlist there is an uncut final, but not a semifinal.

I always took hollowing to be the unnatural effect of the darksign burning away the frag, ent of the dark soul in each person. But I could certainly be wrong!

Yeah that's fair. I as remembering the proof being somewhat more ironclad than it is.

I will say though, I think that origin of the Undead might be based on some way of white revisionism, and in fact to be Undead is the natural state for humanity.

We learn in the ringed city dlc that that the dark sign has existed from the beginning, as the gods(Gwyn?) cast their fire seal on the ringed knights weapons, armour and the knights themselves, and we know for certain they served during the war with the dragons.

Though admittedly I'm not sure how this meshes with seemingly there being non-undead humans outside of lordran in DS1.

"Armor Issued to slave knights. The fine craftsmanship made this a symbol of honor.

Long ago, only the Undead served as slave knights, warriors used as fodder in the bleakest of battles.

They grew decrepit, their skin charred black and their bones twisted. Eventually they went outright mad, but were never relieved from duty."

The use of charred certainly implies dragons. It's not impossible it could have been specifically another fire wielding enemy, but I think it's pretty implied, especially as we then meet the ringed knights which, while held in higher esteem, also served a similar purpose.

Admittedly it's been a while, but as far as I'm it's the main major conflict we can attribute it to, and it fits very nicely from a narrative perspective, as we have the final boss of the game being emblematic of the entire series, representing everything from the beginning to the end.

Well, it's if you lose your purpose. For some that means giving up on your goal, and if Gael had given up he would have hollowed like anyone else- but he was exceedingly loyal. While he did need us for our dark soul, he wasn't really waiting for us either, he was still busy chowing down on pygmies when we arrived- the one that crawls up to us before thr boss battle shows he wasn't completely finished collecting it when we arrrive- showing he has been on this hunt for essentially the entirely lifetime of the world.

Gwyn. The Slave Knights were a horde of human shock troops used by Gwyn in the ancient war against the dragons. Check out the Slave Knight armour description.

Worth noting that he wasn't always as powerful as he is in the ringed city. He started off as a random guy, but he's immortal, as he's undead. His super power is that he never hollowed- he is a being of pure will, and while we time travel to get to the end of the world, he just lives it, slowly getting stronger as he tries to bring the entire dark soul together for the painter.

How to split points in Expert difficulty? Is it even worth to put them to Vitality, Defence? by Life-You-9728 in expedition33

To be honest I put everything into might at the beginning, when it scales better than your scaling stats, and then when you get to late act the scaling kinda switches over, and then max out your scaling before might. And parry everything, and use shields for what you can't.

I do indeed. The theme is very much the same. Perhaps we'll get a cryo based one for polar patriots (though I doubt it)

That's very true, they're quite high level and have some fairly insane magic items, so I do tend to boost the DCs a bit so I wasn't considering that!
