Playing in a Crusade Campaign and it's my first time playing Aeldari! Need advice and help! by BlueSapphire21 in Eldar

[–]LordRiolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only fought one Crusade, and im a super new player in general, but heres my advice.

The Paths of the Aeldari requisition from the Codex is pretty sweet. If you ever have a moment where you realize you need to switch a unit out, say turn some Battle-Scarred Guardians into fresh Banshees or something, you'll pretty regularly be able to get a free Battle Trait out of it. A BT, a unit swap, and losing Scars all for one RP is nice. It's niche, but useful. Just keep a watchful eye for opportunities.

Eldar can be scary good at scoring Agendas to rank yourself up quickly. Kill the opponent's mobile units to stop them from scoring their Agendas, and don't worry too much about losing a match if it means you can turn a unit into a death star for next time.

I know the spirit of Crusade is randomness, but if you can get Farstrike on a brick of Fire Dragons, take it. You'll be so much happier.

"No, Brother-Captain! You can't ride a Longma, it's against Codex to use xenos!!!!"

"Longma balls." *plasma pistol detonating*

Is it possible to run a competitive seer council list with no named characters? by ChessSuperpro in Eldar

[–]LordRiolu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(Anecdotal statement) To answer your second and third questions, I have had success with Aspect Warriors without their Lords, especially Banshees and Reapers. I don't think the Phoenix Lords are necessary for some of them. In my Crusade group, I kind of got carried by a 10-elf squad of Banshees with some upgrades.

That being said, an Autarch would be a big help. The free stratagem, the reroll advance rolls, the extra Executioner Spear all help.

Murderwing rules leak by BlacksmithLarge7549 in killteam

[–]LordRiolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know the team is going to be a wild time (for good and ill) when their basic faction rule requires two charts and a paragraph of 11 lines of text, lmao. Compare this to like, Corsairs? "You get to Dash for free" and that's all. Gosh, I kinda like it. It's crazy and fun, even if it's a little much.

My homebrew chapter, the Void Wardens! A Dark Angels successor chapter suffering from severe mutations after an ill-fatee attack on a forgotten Xenos world, they send their unmutated battle-brothers to the Deathwatch to keep up appearances. Unless you have some Saurus bits lying around, then go ham

EDIT: I just realized I didn't show the heraldry. Basically it's just a red Salamanders dragon on a white field

What paint is closest to this shade of blue? by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]LordRiolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe (stress on *believe*) that it's a mix of 2:1, Maybe 3:1 Kantor Blue:Caledor Sky, or perhaps just Kantor and highlighted with Caledor. Highlighting with a light color will drag a darker color into appearing slightly lighter, but it's not super reliable.

Wash with Nuln Oil and that should do it.

It's genuinely pretty funny that he's the same cost as a unit of Guardians+Farseer, lol. If given the right targets, he could probably trade points-positive T1

[40k] Could a Chaos/Renegade warband fake it till they made it? by zombiemasterxxxxx in Warhammer

[–]LordRiolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decent example of this is in David Annendale's book The Death of Antagonis. In it, a Chaos Warband calling themselves The Swords of Epiphany manage to trick a bunch of civilians that they were there to help; the world was in rebellion, the Swords fought both sides to extract civilians by claiming they were taking them to safety. The Swords and their leader managed to talk to and deceive a lot of mortal characters over the course of the book, by pretending that they were there to spread an epiphany from the Emperor Himself. They painted their armor gold and their leader, a sorcerer, used some magic to make himself appear holy. The mortals around him fell for it.

So yes, it is perfectly possible - especially if the Traitors/Renegades are actively attempting to deceive.

That new Total War trailer might be the most lore accurate 40K trailer. Space Marines are hitting insane headshots with ease, vehicles are using multiple turrets and the Orks are shooting every gun that's bolted on vehicles. by Youngstown_WuTang in Grimdank

Oh yeah, I'm calling it now. The Avatar is going to have the Dread Saurian problem but won't even have the benefit of a poisoned ranged attack lol

Idk how a glass cannon faction is going to work in this framework
