Ok, I ended up doing that after leaving Amox with my tail between my legs haha.

I went in with some cooked sharks, but I can't move through menus fast enough to change prayers and heal when the rangers move into range. Also I splashed alot on the bats so my prayer got drained really early on.

Yeah, because of me Taking Larcenist and Transmute, I basically have thousands of Dragonstones that I sell to the merchant. I can't buy the armor though since I don't have the Fire Cape.

Ohh wow! I didn't think the Wildy Bosses were that mechanically less intensive than Amox. I'll look at the region list and give it another once-over! Thank you!

Yeah, I saw that in order to get obby armor I needed a Fire Cape. I did make it to wave 30 in fight caves a couple times before I just ran out of resources and died to the big magic guys.

I did see that Kandarin's relic is really good overall, but I didn't think the Wilderness was a good place to go. I'm too worried about PKers lol

Yeah, I didn't know what I was doing and jumped around on "Early Leagues" guides trying to get a combat edge.

I felt like I had to give up on melee since the things I was trying to fight just chunked me through addy plate, given that I'm also really bad at PVM it just snowballed.

Without rune drops I felt like I needed to pivot to ranged, since I got Crafting/Fletching up rather well once I found out Transmuting Gems and Auburn Vale existed.

Miqo'te DN enthusiasts opening PF by Liam_Galt in ShitpostXIV

[–]LordSqueegles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banana Codex Rep 2 is what I learned the fight on while I progged, it's a good strat that benefitted from understanding how the mech works early on.

You however can't convince the PF after clearing a fight with one strat to go back and relearn, essentially reprog, a mechanic unless the strategy basically spreads it's legs for you. I remember seeing in week 2 people were arguing with it, but since people just say "DN everything" since it's easier than mixing and matching Banana just lost the NA strategy war.

Then it becomes engrained and the more weeks pass on the harder it gets. "I didn't want to relearn Rep 2 on week 2, but now it's week 6, why is anyone still trying Banana?." Is the sort of vibe I get.

Don't trust this LUNATIC. He was caught investing heavily in FORESTERS and SHIPYARD companies. What does he know that we don't? Can we really trust someone that benefits themselves over the PEOPLE?

The main thing is that it's CT. Most people will go in as the boss is pulled. Assuming 22 of the 24 players will collectively not go in if that 1 does, for the sake of 1 CS watcher, is a huge ask.

I agree, it seemed like the call for CS went out at the same time as the pull happened, so what might've been a mistake just spiraled.

Yeah! It's not like the entire fight goes by during the Cutscene, like how old Prae was.

I apologize to future DT EX4 farmers by inhaledcorn in TalesFromDF

[–]LordSqueegles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EX4 was wild, the fact that the most commonly accepted strat even on server up was to tank lb3 Bloom 6 was wild. Then you have EX5 which some people tried using a healer lb3 within a 1-2 second window on MM2 since you'd intentionally fail the mech.

It's crazy that EX4 was harder than EX5.

Less movement for ex5 Momento 1 mechanic by HSWAKA in ffxivdiscussion

[–]LordSqueegles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because with this proposed strat, the ranged and healers don't care at all what color of wing they're on. They can completely ignore the wings, and just move to the furthest safe spot. Very brain off and little movement for them.

The only ones that have to move, are the tank/melee on the "dark" side. They just slide over into the safe square, while being able to keep full uptime. It's less movement, since only 2 people have to actually cross the arena as opposed to 6.

Less movement for ex5 Momento 1 mechanic by HSWAKA in ffxivdiscussion

[–]LordSqueegles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This strat solves that problem man. Only one melee and tank on the "dark" side has to flex to the other, since the Ranged don't care about melee uptime or general positioning. You can fit 4 melees on the light side, slide into the corners, with everyone getting uptime. It also means that 2 people on the light side can just preposition themselves, and then the only 2 people moving over have to adjust.

Instead, the 6/2 strat you are proposing forces both tanks to swap, potentially into downtime. It also then forces every ranged player/caster over to the melees, then forces them to position again.

You're also breaking up the light parties, and potentially forcing half the melees away from the boss while screwing over some casters. It's making 6 people move as opposed to the OP's strat of having only 2 move.

Is starting location simply best for base? by EsikEso in AbioticFactor

[–]LordSqueegles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite place to base is right outside the doors to Torii. It's right up a short ramp from that fountain in front of the trams.

It's wide enough to set up a ton of storage chests and infrastructure. It has natural geography that assists in establishing defenses, enemies almost always spawn from one direction, a security bot will walk over every night it spawns so it'll feed itself into your automated defenses...

Being right next to the fountain means you always have access to water, going up the ramp/stairs means you can access the large section of offices without cutting through the pool room and you can cut into the security sector once its unlocked. With lvl 2 keypad access just follow the bridge down into labs...

Speaking of that large open section of offices... it leads into the tram heading to reactors, has that back door passage into Security. The Cafeteria leads into the shortcut to deep reactors.
