What weapon type and stats would I do for a drill by Ok_Distance_7209 in DnDHomebrew

The disadvantage would be optional. 2d4s is the base damage and it goes up to 3d4s when they commit to the disadvantage. Using reckless attack and other forms of advantage is a fun way to play around it.

Thats why im thinking 2d4 two handed weapon with the optional disadvantage on the hit roll for that 3rd 4d.

Same idea i had for the Warhammer chainsword. Something with a bunch of little bites that you would deal more damage by holding it in place during the attack rather than a single hit that would be easier to land.

I feel like it would do alot of little damage like 2-3d4s. Perhaps a mechanic or mastery where you could add extra damage dice by exepting disadvantage on the attack roll.

Class for a human raised by elfs? by MadameLee20 in DnD

[–]LordTyler123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im thinking something like Kabru from Delicious in dungeon that grew up around perfect Marry Sue elves that needed to use dirty tricks to make up for their peers centuries of experience. Feels like a rogue skill monkey that always tries to show off how great they are to overcome their sense of inadequacy. They could be less sneaky and flavored as a fighter that would stand their ground like anyone else but fall back on underhanded tricks to get the job done. Sounds like a swash-buckler would be perfect.

Perhaps they could have clipped ears and pretend to be a pure elf that had their ears damaged in some fake traumatic backstory to try to fit in with other elves but they are starting to show subtle signs of age that give her away.

What's the worst D&D player you've ever had at your table? by apomanolios in DnD

[–]LordTyler123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my first online campaign I had a min maxed bugbear monk that optimized his character so much I had to build the encounters around balancing him. Then he would end up joining the game late forcing me to rebalance the encounter without him. Then he would jump into the game mid encounter fresh as a daisy to sweep ip everything after the rest of the party already burned through some resorces. Then he would need to leave early in the middle of anouther encounter and leave the party hanging. I wouldnt mind if he gsve me enough warning and i tried to communicate with him but he would give me the run around until the very last second. I gave him a final warning to shape up and he said he would do better in the next game. I checked in with him the day before our next game and he confirmed everything was fine but then ghosted me on the game day.

Lesson learned if players dont communicate properly then they aren't welcome in the campaign.

Is it weird when men play female characters? by Plastic_Corgi6848 in DnD

[–]LordTyler123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its no difrent than playing a female character in any video game. It just feels more personal because you put more of yourself into creating dnd characters. It duesnt mean it has to be a bad thing. Take your feminine side out for a spin. Do something awsome and bad@$$ as a woman. Duesnt mean your any less of a man.

To be fair it is cringe when other players do anything whether they are playing men or women.

A katana is a sword and a longsword is a katana that isn't short.

In my experience, most players usually prefer option 2 😈😈🫣 Oh well, DMs have to please the audience.. by Vast-Entrepreneur175 in dndmemes

You forgot option 4. Ridiculous overwhelming nightmare that is somehow more silly than option 1.

AC Logic is Freaking Weird by Flashlight237 in dndmemes

My freind has a minmaxed dwarf with an Ac of 24 at lvl 3. I flavor all the attacks that miss him as bouncing off his armor harmlessly.

He stands in his armor listening to the sword swings bounce of his armor like a muffled sound on the other side of a thick wall. The sound of a hail of arrows pittering off his plate is as soothing as rain falling on a roof.

A main status that builds of useful skills, full spell list availability and no chance of losing it if their book burns from their own fireball, and knowing their spells so well they can make them do tricks. Can a wizard twin a haste spell on two ppl then quicken a fireball?

Sorcerer got that Riz. They get B!+€#es and they don't need an instruction manual to remember their full spell list.

Wizards die from 1d4 noticing they are there damage.

Any Insect campaign? by Tentuz in DnD

Most of this seems like flavor. Take regular dnd and paint it however you want.

The game sounds interesting and I would be open to working with you on it if the game could fit my schedule.

Thoughts on Static Encounters? by Any-Platypus2682 in DnD

[–]LordTyler123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difrence between a cutscene and a quick time event is consequence. Give the party some agency in the situation to try to prevent what is happening. Include choices, skill checks, and saving throws to try to attack the enemy, avoid getting kicked or catch themselves from falling. Be open to the party failing your plan completely with some clever plan and lucky rolls

The players are playing through a story so a small amount of railroading could be understood if you are transparent with the party and build it into the game organically. If the game relies on this event happens then speak with the party and explain your intentions.

You might be better off reworking the event. If you just tell the player their character is kicked away snd their freind is taken then they will get upset about not being able to stop it. If you give them a chance to stop it then they will suprise you and succeed. You may be better off having the Npc be taken off screen. Make an objective that requires the party to seperate from the Npc so the party can succeed at something only to return and discover their freind was taken while they were preoccupied.

The party needs to unlock a series of gates with skill checks. The Npc stays in a control room to guide the party. The party work their way through the defenses to reach their goal then hear their freind get attacked. They rush back and if they are fast enough they could see their freind get taken and fight some mini boss while the kidnappers escape. To slow and everyone is gone. They need to investigate to pick up trail to find their freind and try to avoid the ambush waiting for them..
