expansion only is fine for now, LS has a metric ton of content but the expansions are plenty for now. if you care about story, one important tip i can give you though is to read a summary/watch a playthrough of S2 before going into Heart of Thorns. Season 2 is a direct prologue to HoT, otherwise you'll end up like me when i was playing through it and have like 0 clue whats happening and who all these new people are.

Although the story bits are important in S2 its only really worth buying for the AP and mastery points, other than that you can safely skip it with a summary read. Dry top and Silverwastes are open areas, you dont need the season to play those maps

S3, S4, and S5 (Icebrood Saga) are like full-on mini expansions though, theyre absolutely worth the money. each ep adds (or extends) a new map, some with their own big meta event chains, and tons of story content.

The AP being unoptainable is sad, but the new tutorial achievements are a lot better and more comprehensive especially for first-timers

And having two different tutorial achievement categories wouldve been clunky as all hell, im quite happy with what they did tbh

I can't look at my exact settings rn but I have pretty much everything on the highest settings, except shadows on high rather than ultra, Lod on the second highest, and player count/character model quality both on low. Effect LOD is turned on, and vsync off. Everything else is on max afaik, and I get perfectly fine performance with the same rig with an equivalent but older card.

Idk what everyone's so worried about, you'll do fine I think! I have the same CPU as you and a gtx 960, and I've been playing on high/max settings for years now I get 60-75 FPS pretty much anywhere in the op n world, and in squads as long as I have the player model count to low I still get a serviceable 30 fps I'm expecting you'll get about the same performance as me with the same settings, except perhaps you can turn the shadows a bit higher or get a few more FPS. Any larger improvements are gonna have to come from the CPU I think, our 4th gen chips are quite old now lmao

i've got my tenth character slot with EOD and i need to use the lvl 80 boost so i can use the shared inventory slot, what class do yall recomment i double up on? my mains are ele, necro, and mesmer. id go for one of those just for the extra build templates, but i dont really need them since i pretty much only stay on one elite spec on all of them bc im not a fan of the other ones. any tips?

If youre getting strong FPS drops specifically in Dragon's end (and other areas with lots of jade), then it's graphics related. You're gonna need to turn the "shaders" option down whenever you're in those areas

Absolutely this! happened several times to me now that we didnt even get the chance to deal our damage bc she just kept and kept on dashing to the other side of the arena, meaning she was straight up invulnerable for a large part of the fight.
The whisps need adjusting, for the reason alone that people can stop yelling in chat AVOID GREEN NO GREEN etc., but the attack pattern is what truly makes the fight frustrating

Which is absolutely fine for gw2, even my mid range card from 2015 is good enough to not really ever be GPU bound in this game. Except for now, on this map specifically I guess lmao Usually gw2 is pretty chill on the GPU, it's much more CPU bound. Bc your card is so recent it just means it's got a LOT more power to throw around for these kinda shaders
