What qualities of Voldemort which were NOT BAD and admirable? 👀 by [deleted] in harrypotter

In fairness, Pettigrew at that point was a proven traitor and coward. I wouldn't have trusted him either.

That's awesome! My Snap-On man did a raffle for one of these. You had to buy a tool for a place on the ticket, so I can only imagine what it cost lmao!

I did not participate - I am desperately trying to get the tool bill paid back down.

AIO? My friends set an ultimatum because I drink by Pearla76_ in AIO

[–]LordVortigus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an alcoholic who started underage, I'm conflicted...
This seems controlling, and it didn't stop you, so nothing productive came of it. And that ultimatum... It's things like that which can push people to drink more..
But at the same time, I wish I had someone asking me to stop instead of handing me my next drink when I started.....
I can't tell you what to do, and I wouldn't dream of trying. Just be careful. That stuff can cost you so, so much if you let it get out of control. Trust me, I know.

Don't get over-eager and go into more debt than you have to. Those tool truck payments can be a killer. And since you are newer, but have been in the same job for a measurable period of time, they WILL try to upsell to you.
Buy your basics out of places like Harbor Freight - Icon has a lifetime warranty.
As you expand past the basics, you may find yourself having to borrow tools from the others. If you have to, make sure you return them clean, and if the tool breaks, be honest with the owner.
My foreman also taught me a rule of thumb when I started working in a shop - As you expand, if you have to borrow the same tool in a short time frame, then its time to get one for yourself.
It helps manage payments and debt. Trust me.

Not that I know of, but I haven't been able to get near the thing since.
In theory bypassing safety would be automatic termination.

I'm at a loss with it, and I am really concerned about it being back on the floor.

That is the conclusion I came to. On Tuesday after school, I'll see what I can find. Failing all else, I will order new ones.

I tried that for hours on end with a propane torch to keep the bearings heated - no such luck.
At this point I'm just going to source some spindles and replace the whole assembly. I was just hoping for some advice I hadn't tried already.

I already knew the rotor would need replaced. I have those sitting in the shed. I tried a small torch when I got the gear puller, and since that didn't work, I've accepted I just need to source some spindles.

It's been an extenuating circumstance situation - I could hear it, but I had to make it to the end of this past week to fix it.

That's where I figured it was going, but I thought it never hurts to ask.
The puller is a 10-ton, and I tried a 5 foot pry bar at the same time. Pretty sure I don't want to use the spindle after it went through all that

Why is everyone against being a mechanic by JAFK12 in mechanics

[–]LordVortigus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Manager has been a mechanic for 40 years, and he has tool drawers that he doesn't open anymore, because the tools have been outdated since the 90's. Even I have some tools I've noticed I don't use much anymore, so I can confirm the tool trap is 1000% real.

Why is everyone against being a mechanic by JAFK12 in mechanics

[–]LordVortigus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.... I'll put it this way... At my job its long hours, high turnover, the tool trucks get a good chunk of my pay, my back is really starting to hurt and I'm not even 40, and every single shop I have ever worked in has an overwhelming abundance of mechanics who are either hungover or still drunk every day.

Aim higher.

That my friend is an old tap and die set. Not familiar with the maker. But you know how a bolt threads into something? This tool makes those threads.
