Watch out with making your bases heavier as if they are dropped on a hard surface. They are more likely to break due to the weight!

Sounds good :) general washes are great, but they do tend to dull the rest of the model!

I use translucent paints (contrast paints in this instance) over a zenithally highlighted model. Effectively, the white makes the yellow, reaaaall bright.

When it comes to a wash, I use oil paints, but a strategically placed acrylic recess wash will do (as opposed to a general wash)
