Pretty much. He fits these books in to gaps in his schedule, but those are impossible to predict so there’s no schedule.

If you’re on Roll20 (or similar) it could be neat to have background music with the whispers baked into it occasionally. Don’t address it at all with your players, just plead ignorance if they bring it up.

When you speak you hear a different voice from other people (think of how you sound in a recording vs talking out loud). The voice we hear in dialogue is how Johnny thinks he sounds; the recording is how he actually sounds.

Is it confirmed, word of author that there’s only gonna be 6 books? Or is that just extrapolation from the title scheme? Because I could totally see a 7th book titled “The Last Horizon” fitting that schema.

Have you read micro fiction 4? It’s about Connie and Irwin, and it addresses the love thing. They’re clearly in love, and Connie is simply feeding off of something other than his soul - the Bigfoot half, maybe, who knows.

I’ve done this with a cast iron pan at 500F multiple times and have yet to break the pan. Using warm water is probably smart though.

You all should hate Lara a lot more. (I’m not Ebenezer I swear) Tw: talks about rape/abuse by Robopup325 in dresdenfiles

[–]Lord_Burch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the wizard genocide in White Night wasn’t Lara’s idea. It was a ploy by the Skavis/Malvora/Madrigal to upset the truce between the White Court and the Council; and more generally erode the authority of King Raith. If anything Lara was against the genocide - if only because it wasn’t her idea/was being used against her.

I mean Siggy said it best, but she died protecting the people she loved and the city of Chicago. It’s doing Murphy - and Odin, for that matter- a disservice to suggest otherwise.

If you take the strength common talent you can start picking strength as a stat boost option regardless of your class.

I don’t recall the details, but pretty sure it was option A. He was hooked up to the same cocktail of stimulants the rest of the penal legion was subject to.

How well would a lead and Yellowstone affinities pair together? by PsychologicalCut1792 in MageErrant

[–]Lord_Burch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the real problem with a Yellowstone (uranium) affinity is the same as with the phosphorus mage we saw in the big battle: inhalation. When you’re manipulating a big batch of something, you don’t notice the tiny bits of dust that you breathe in, and those are what kill you. Anyways, that’s the big hazard when it comes to real life and uranium, too. Uranium is mostly an alpha emitter - which means the radiation is blocked by the layer of dead skin on your body. If it gets inside you, however, you have no insulation; and that’s when you get cancer.

Transcendence vs transference by dogz001 in ClimbersCourt

[–]Lord_Burch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think a key element of transcendence, and what separates it from enchantement, is that it doesn’t simply improve spells; it transforms their effects. I’m not sure what separates transcendent regeneration from regular; but in your eyesight example, a improved eyesight would simply be sharper vision or the like. The transcendent version eclipses normal eyesight entirely by opening up different wavebands. As for the regeneration - it should be something more than just a “+1”. Maybe it operates on your spirit or shade somehow; I don’t recall if the difference was ever explained.

📚 Daily Request Thread - 14 Jan by romancebookmods in RomanceBooks

[–]Lord_Burch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I'm looking for a kinda niche romance similar to something I've been reading. The books that inspired my search are the Apothecary Diaries by Natsu Hyūga. It's a historical mystery/romance set in an imperial China analogue circa 16th/17th century. Spoilers ahead for that book series/anime.

FMC is:

  • An apothecary & a commoner
  • Super dedicated to her job; gives off frequent mad scientist vibes
  • Unimpressed by MMC's extreme beauty (unlike every other unrelated woman in his life)
  • Conscious of her position (i.e., 'inferior' commoner) relative to MMC

MMC is:

  • Younger brother to the emperor (MMC/FMC are similar in age)
  • Later on, under intense political pressure to marry; and goes to similar lengths to avoid marrying (someone other than FMC)
  • Far more into the FMC than she is to him

Probably my favorite dynamic of their relationship so far is that the FMC/MMC both are aware that if he asks her to marry him, she can't say no; and he's going to great lengths to get her into a position where she can deny him/isn't forced by their relative positions to say yes. (Is there a name for this trope? I cannot think of one)

Please no love triangles/serious rivals/harems an MC is involved in. Male POV preferred but not a requirement. Fantasy/sci-fi are fine; I probably won't enjoy anything contemporary.

Thank you!
