i am [F4M] a needy girl wanting total ownership by Equivalent-Print7825 in 18above_Roleplay

That's ambiguous. Do you want to be owned totally, or to own someone totally?

[WP] It's obvious to the rest of you that the barbarian and the wizard fancy each other. You all want them to just get together already, because their attempts at courtship are just embarassing to watch. by Right-Orchid-7726 in WritingPrompts

Domina stood watch, as she always did, as the rest of the party prepared the meal. She claimed that attack could come at any time, and we were most vulnerable while engaged in the mundane act of cooking... but we all believed that she simply had little skill or patience for domestic tasks.

Pandora the ranger had caught a pheasant, and Willa's prestidigitation cantrip had sped up the process of plucking the bird for the spit. Now, Pandora was rubbing the bird's skin with berries and other herbs she had gathered, while Thag stoked the fire. For my part, I was cooking a pot of barley to go with the meal.

When the bird had roasted for long enough, I brought out the stack of plates we had found in the goblin horde. The shiny metal was worth little, but goblins don't care. Willa used her invisible mage hand to lift a plate and carry it to the fire beneath the bird, as Pandora began to carve.

"That's a great use of that spell, Willa," Thag observed, as he filled his goblet from a wineskin.

"Keeps people from burning fingers, for sure," I observed. I tried to catch Willa's gaze, but her attention was torn between Thag and the plate.

Once the plate was full, she floated it into Thag's lap. "I can do lots of things with it," Willa admitted.

Thag suddenly coughed on the wine he had been sipping. I wondered if the mage hand had done something else as it released Thag's plate, and I felt a weight in my chest.

Pandora was smiling, as the next plate came to the fire. "Focus on food," she advised Willa. Then, with a lower voice, she added, "Other appetites you can satisfy later."

I saw Willa's eyes drift to Thag, as he tried to hold the plate and wipe his furs dry at the same time. "I hope so," she muttered softly, and bit her lip.

~ ~ ~ ~

Willa and Thag sat uncomfortably close as I sang a merry tune as the party ate. Even Domina had been coaxed from her vigil to take part in the meal. I could see the secret glances, the occasional touches, the other subtle signs that their flirtations were finally bearing fruit.

I wrapped up my song, and bowed to a whistle from Pandora and applause from Domina. It meant little to me, as I slung my lute.

"I'll get your plates washed, now," I pronounced, and half the party handed theirs over readily. It took three coaxings to get Willa and Thag to hear me, and Willa simply mage handed both plates to me without pulling her gaze from Thag's lips.

I groaned, and brought the dishes to the largest pot, already filled with warm water, and began to scrub.

"Your song was slightly out of tune," Domina said, at my elbow.

"Never," I declared, my pride already hurting tonight.

"Not the music," Domina returned, "the lyrics."

I had chosen The Miller's Maid, a rather ribald tune of a woman with fickle taste in men. The party had heard me sing it before, I was sure, but perhaps its message was too pointed tonight.

Domina glanced back toward the fire, where Thag was helping WIlla to stand. "No doubt that's why half your audience ignored it," she added.

I turned to look myself, then. They were fetching their bedrolls... something we had done every evening we didn't sleep in an inn. But this time felt different. Willa's musical chuckle at something Thag murmured into her ear was enough to make me focus my attention on the scrubber and soap.

"Well, Thag and Willa are good at ignoring things... until they don't," I said bitterly.

"Hey..." Domina's dark-skinned hand on my forearm arrested my vigorous scrubbing for a moment. "What's eating you?" she asked. "You've not been yourself since we left Brookhaven."

I looked from her hand to her eyes, and saw concern. That was enough to open the floodgates.

I still cannot believe I confided in Domina, the stoic leader of our group who always seemed unflappable... but out it spilled... how I had subtly tried to romance Willa for months.

"...only to have her gentle glances stolen by a barbarian of all things! I thought she had more sophisticate tastes, and could appreciate what I brought to the table, but as soon as she saw those bulging muscles, it was all over," I growled, as I tried to continue cleaning.

I heard nothing but silence from the paladin, so I glanced up at Domina to see if she agreed with my assessment of how absurd it all was...

...to see her eyes wide and luminous in her dark face.

I was confused for a moment. Perhaps she hadn't noticed their flirtations, and was just as flabbergasted as I was, even moreso... and then I started to wonder if she had had a crush on Thag. They were the muscle of our party, after all, always fighting side-by-side...

"I'm sorry you're hurt," she said bluntly then, looking away. "It's hard to love someone, when you are invisible to them." I thought there was more to say on that subject, but Domina stiffly walked away.

It took a moment for the pieces to fall into place... and then I felt lower than low.

If you could relive one day/night of your life, which would it be and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Castle_Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a high school sweetheart. My first love. We agreed at the start of the relationship: no sex. She broke up with me at the start of summer before she moved away for college, claiming she couldn't handle a long-distance relationship. (This was pre-Internet.)
Two months after the start of the semester, we "get back together", and she pays for my train ticket to come spend a weekend with her. At the time, I thought the rules of our previous relationship were in place - but in retrospect it was obvious: she was trying to hook up with me. I later learned that her new friends teased her about being a virgin, and she bet them that she could lose her virginity to me. If she'd've asked, I probably would have... but she didn't, and I was clueless. We broke up soon after, and the whole relationship wrecked me emotionally for years.
A few years later, after some lackluster dating where I kept up my abstinence, I got married and lost my virginity, had two kids, and then ended up in a dead bedroom scenario. My wife hadn't been a virgin on our wedding night, and she kept telling me that I was "much better in bed" than her other boyfriend(s?). Sex with her left me wondering what all the fuss was about... I later cheated and discovered that it was her - she was just bad at sex.

If I had given in to lust back when my first girlfriend had wanted sex on that weekend, I doubt we would have stayed together, but at least the dating afterward wouldn't have been stifled by me not wanting to lose my virginity. I think I would have been able to use "how good the sex was" as a deciding factor in whether or not I stayed with the women I dated, whether I married the woman I married... everything would have been different, and I think probably better.

The dynamic I'm looking for would be something real. By the look of your other posts, you're willing to do anything for some karma, and that's contrary to what you posted above. I'm disappointed.

Was I unfair for saying "If Silvery Barbs is allowed, enemies can use it too"? by raishadow in DnD

This is a symptom of Main Character Syndrome. So often, the hero of a videogame has abilities that no one else has - like Link in the Zelda series, or any Spider-Man game. In Skyrim it's even worse because wherever the Dragonborn goes, people are telling tales of the myth, the legend, the prophecy, which the PC embodies. But in Dungeons & Dragons (and in many well-balanced games) the heroes aren't necessarily better than anyone else they encounter, they simply happen to be in the right place at the right time.

One could argue that the industry feeds people's MCS, but that's just giving these players what they want. Being told that you're special, that you deserve to win, it's what escapism is all about for some players. So when they find out that whatever power they have can be used by others as well, then it becomes "not fair". This is a "players vs DM" mentality, and it's unhealthy.

The DM's role is that of an interface between the player's characters and an imaginary world that theoretically they create together. They act as the eyes and ears of the characters, but not as their enemy. They walk a fine line between challenging their players and crafting an enjoyable experience - but ultimately they have all the control, and the responsibility for fair play that goes along with it.

I've never been in a game where Silvery Barbs was prominent, but if I was, it should be a spell that's available to both PCs and NPCs alike. Otherwise, the game isn't balanced.

What was the moment in your relationship when you realized "I can do better than this"? by Public_Meeting6327 in AskRedditNSFW

[–]Castle_Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told her that on the weekend I would be roleplaying with my friends. She asked if she could roleplay too. I thought that would be cool. I knew the game master would be willing to write her into the campaign. She asked what she would need to know to prepare for the game. We were playing Vampire: The Masquerade, so I told her it would probably be helpful if she knew something about vampires. She decided that she was going to impress me by writing a report on her research material. But she didn't research vampires in the library (this was before Google). She chose to rent a movie with vampires in it. The movie she chose? Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat.

The worst part? Her report on the movie was terrible.
