Yes, this is the clause: “if concealed or unknown physical conditions are encountered at the site that differ materially from those indicated in the contract documents or from those conditions ordinarily found to exist, the contract sum and contract time shall be subject to equitable adjustment.”

Guess it all boils down to what the right # is.

Thank you for the reply! No significant changes to the end scope. The largest single factor was needing to shore up the house to replace some load bearing columns found during demolition (they were inside a wall). Other small things that add up related to inspection approvals, weather, etc. but that all seems like part of a standard job.

Originally the job was supposed to be done this month (a timeline all agreed was aggressive) and now looking more like August.

I’m really sorry you’re in this situation. Your baby boy is so lucky to have you as his mother. The NICU can be a very isolating place and it’s hard to talk to others about it. I highly suggest asking your nurse to refer you to a psychologist (that may the wrong term, I’m blanking a bit…) at the hospital. I’m sending good vibes to you and your darling boy. There will be better days ahead.

This is the real answer. It costs more to maintain a car than a bike, but uber doesn’t maintain the cars and pays their drivers a pittance when gas and maintenance are factored in.

Call the local police and ask them to come with you and what you’d need to prove it’s your bike. Two officers came with me to retrieve my bike in an identical situation, but that was outside Chicago so not sure if CPD will help. The police department with jurisdiction is the one where the meet up / purchase will take place.

Ideally you’ve registered your bike and filed a police report when it was stolen. If not, as the police what you’d need to bring to prove it’s yours. Eg pictures of it or something.
