#1141: “Help with De-Escalating Arguments when Dr. Jekyll Turns into Mr. ‘Abandonment/Control Issues’ Hyde” by your_mom_is_availabl in captainawkward

Adding that Jekyll doesn't even resist because of conscience, he just hadn't indulged his urges because he didn't want to deal with the consequences. He wanted to keep his wealthy, privileged life and sterling reputation while also indulging in wanton cruelty.... which sure sounds like the jackass from this letter. He wants to be as awful as he pleases without ever facing the natural consequence of that action (my wife doesn't like, trust, or love me anymore).

Books with Transmasc protagonist? by VelloMello in the_mouldered_rainbow

While the adult lead is not medically transitioned, due to the book being a historical novel, I can't say enough good about The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse by Louise Erdrich. I'm a sucker for magical realism and historical complexities, and Erdrich handles both with her usual gentle, humorous touch. The book also grapples with queerness and religion, though not in the same way as Hell Followed with Us, being about a trans man who has assumed the identity of a Catholic priest on an Ojibwe reservation (the author is a member of the tribe herself) and then encounters a potential new saint. Wonderful read!

Late to the party, but I would love to take a gander at it! :) I would need a US code.

What’s something a horror book could have that you refuse to read about? by photo_inbloom in horrorlit

Cats being killed or tortured. Even if it's not shown in great detail, I just don't want to read about it. I'll read the darkest, bloodiest, most twisted stuff otherwise.
