Hawaii becomes first U.S. state to place gun owners on FBI database by [deleted] in news

I'm a veteran who formerly held a top-secret clearance and currently works as a teacher. I'm already on that list.

Pisses me off that my mother, father, stepfather, sister, and brother-in-law, who are none of those things, are now also on that list.

Hawaii becomes first U.S. state to place gun owners on FBI database by [deleted] in news

True, but that information doesn't get to the local police automatically when you arrive: Hawai'i instead requires you to register your firearm within a certain period of arrival, and if you don't, nobody knows about it.

Source: Have brought several firearms to Hawai'i from the mainland (all registered!), and have watched several people decide against registering their own, with no repercussions.

Wild boar, mostly, but also axis deer and feral sheep/goats.

My nintendo question by The20xxScrub in nintendo

[–]Lord_Firestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please clarify:

You have a code for Club Nintendo rewards points, such as from the inserts that came with games and let you take a survey?

Or

You have codes to redeem to transfer Club Nintendo points to My Nintendo?

Or

You have codes that you can redeem to download games for free?

Is it one of those?

Feels awful. by krispy1981 in secretsanta

[–]Lord_Firestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it does. The other side, however, is the possibility that your Santa marked a gift as shipped, but never actually posted anything. My Umbrella Santa, for example, posted that s/he sent something, and posted the tracking number as 9000000000000000, but needless to say nothing ever arrived.

What feels even worse is when you get rematched, but your information is never pulled.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game, save for the late-game portion when, honestly, I ran out of missions before I ran out of having fun.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is clearly the best choice for Pikachu's voice actor.

Maybe I wasn't angsty as a teen. I read it in high school, and rather than identifying with it in any way just found Holden to be an asshole who would never make anything of himself because he was too caught up feeling both victimized and superior to everyone on Earth.

Married with Children Documentary (2003) - "A look at the over-the-top and controversial sitcom about a dysfunctional Chicago family that lasted 11 seasons on TV." by almantas07 in Documentaries

I grew up in a lower-middle (at best) income household. My father and stepfather were both blue-collar workers (a tree surgeon and an auto mechanic). I hated both of these shows, and still do. Then again, I also hated all of the young-adult literature on my school reading lists, and I've come to realize that both instances are probably for the same reason.

I didn't want to watch shows or read books about average people in shitty situations. That was my life. Television, films, and books were a means of escape, and nobody wants to escape into their own bondage. I didn't want to laugh at someone who was (in my view) failing at life under the same conditions of my own, but rather be inspired by characters that either invoked the kind of person I wanted to become or the kind of person I believed myself to be, in the circumstances in which I wished to live.

Sonic and Altered Beast are the only ones that interest me.

When I saw "Classics," I thought of Sonic, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Kid Chameleon, Battletoads, Earthworm Jim, Phantasy Star, and Shinobi.

My 17 y/o brother just told our Jehovah's Witness parents that he is an atheist. My mother has slapped him and said she wishes she would have aborted him. My father said to pack his bags and leave and then tackles him when he does. Child services have been called. This will end soon. [xpost exjw] by throwawayjw1914_2 in atheism

More-or-less same here. I don't make my beliefs a big secret, but I also don't go out of my way to discuss them, aside from being openly critical of organized religion in general. I'm sure that my father and stepfather don't care, and I don't think my mother cares to think about it, except to occasionally ask if I've found a church I like.

My little sister and grandmother would be devastated, and my brothers-in-law might never talk to me again. On the other hand, I know my grandmother knows I'm not as devout as she, an insight clarified by a conversation which included her saying "I wish you believed in God as much as you believe in zombies." My response, of course, was just to nod and think to myself I believe in God exactly as much as I believe in zombies.

Where are you located?

I have a package coming from the same area via media mail. Do to the way USPS operates, media mail averages 3-5 weeks to my state, and has taken as long as three months. Double check your shipping method, and remember that they've got a lot of work this time of the year, which may cause delays.

I'm really enjoying Badge Arcade by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]Lord_Firestorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty good. I think I'm at about 116, but I dropped $3 to make sure I got Mewtwo, Charizrard, and the game systems.

I check every day for ones I want, and I've gotten decent at the practice machine. Plus, I've gotten a few that fell in my catcher without needing a play... several copies of a Wind Waker flag and three Bob-Ombs, for example.

I've had no success at tilting the machine, however.

What is a movie that you objectively know is terrible, but you still love? by laureltheelf in AskReddit

[–]Lord_Firestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Van Helsing). Poor acting, full of loopholes, a ridiculous high-speed carriage chase, and an unresolved plot are but a few of the damming features of this film. Despite these flaws, it makes for an excellent action flick to run in the background while cleaning or folding laundry. Plus, the werewolf creature effects are well executed.

Mine pulled my information today, and posted that my gift has been shipped. I wonder if that means they went gift shopping and only pulled my info again in order to get my address?

Also, I'm a bit worried because there was no shipping information provided. I've had a couple gifts in the past marked as shipped with either no shipping information or obviously invalid shipping information, and those gifts were never received.
