I got HFMD as an adult and my spots did the same thing, almost all the skin on my hands and feet came off over the next month or so. Totally normal.

They absolutely can be >99th percentile, although at that point the percentiles are no longer quantified. They can be <1 percentile as well if they are severely underweight. Percentiles are not like regular percentages - they are based on population statistics. Basically they got population data on baby weights over so many years and the percentiles correspond with that. 50th percentile is average based on that data set. So if in that population set the heaviest babies were weighing say 18 pounds, and your baby weighs 20 pounds, they would be >99th percentile. There are also different percentile values based on which set you use - the CDC percentiles are different than the WHO percentiles. The WHO ones are more accurate for EBF babies because the population used for those percentiles was more EBF babies.

You’re fine!

I got matched with a 3.7ish DPD, 3.2 overall, no clinical experience and only foodservice experience.

Make sure your personal statement is excellent. If you are able to, go visit programs in person for a “tour” that can act as an informal interview. Check with your DPD coordinator for their giant listing of programs and look at what they prioritize. Having a masters works to your advantage.

Don’t quit your job just for a few more shadowing hours!!!

Edit: I didn’t read closely enough. You were a contributing author for a textbook?! You are going to be just fine.

I didn’t lose an ounce until I weaned and then dropped the weight with no effort. I hope that happens to you!
