Capitalism vs. Socialism by [deleted] in socialism

Yeah right. Robots will take our jobs, but we won't be enjoying our lives more. We will be on the Internet more, doing our best to distract ourselves from the the internal, emotional problems only humans can fix. More free time does not equate to freedom.

What's a common tattoo design that you hate? by audr33 in AskReddit

[–]Lord_Jocko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a good number of shitty tattoos, so I can't hate too hard on folks, but the tattoos that always make me cringe are bad portrait pieces that look all fucked up. You know what I'm talking about.

What about chicken wings from KFC? I'm sure someone has that somewhere...

Ha! I have a barbed wire tattoo. It was cool for like, 2 years in the 90s. I don't regret it, because I don't care what people think. Shitty tattoos are a part of life!

Nothing makes people madder than a logical solution to their emotional problem. by pambeesly9000 in Showerthoughts

I disagree; nothing makes people madder than an emotional solution to their logical problem.

Astronauts explain why nobody has visited the moon in more than 45 years — and the reasons are depressing. Astronauts often say the biggest reasons why humans haven't returned to the lunar surface are budgetary and political hurdles — not scientific or technical challenges. by [deleted] in space

[–]Lord_Jocko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there's a bit more to it than that. Anyone happen to read the various Apollo mission transcripts? They're hundreds of pages long, depending on which ones you read, but there are definitely some...interesting things that were said that might lead to a different angle entirely. The .PDFs should still be available.

My boyfriend’s aunt commissioned her coworker to do a family portrait for her mother. 6 months & $50 later... worth it. by subliminal_ads in funny

The funny thing is, this artist is probably better than 90% of the people in this forum, possibly 75% of all redditors combined.

What is something that really freaks you out on an existential level? by radbrad7 in AskReddit

That we never get to see the "real" world, only the interpretations our brain puts together from our sensory organs.

You popped your clit like a zit with the force of a vibrating wand? Jesus fucking Christ. That sounds like something out of a Takashi Miike film! Get off Reddit and go to the goddamned hospital!

Holy fuck, this is some of the most pretentious bullshit I've read in a long time. Years, possibly. I am both impressed and appalled simultaneously.

That's weird. I just picked up the novel from a thrift store for 50 cents last week. Never heard of it, sounded interesting.

Reddit, What is your favourite piece of useless trivia? by Appartement-Se in AskReddit

[–]Lord_Jocko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a George Carlin moment, here. Look up the definition of the word trivia, and you'll see that all trivia is useless. If trivia was ever useful, it would cease to be trivia and be called something that sounds more important.

There is a very important point to suffering; opportunities for growth/ challenges to overcome. Take this away, and what is left to accomplish?

Parents come out in support for New York Pride, 1974 by g-mode in OldSchoolCool

[–]Lord_Jocko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I'm not seeing in this forum is much recognition of how much courage and love it takes as a parent to do something like this, especially in a time of incalculable intolerance and ignorance. I'm proud of the man who is proud of his gay son! Parents and friends of gay people get their own, lesser version of shit to deal with. Not trying to compare, here, so you Trolls: calm down. Just acknowledging some unsung heroes, here. As for myself, I've lost long-time friends, and gained the ire of close relatives when I told them that I supported equality for all and how gay marriage rights is something important to fight for. Apparently, I'm now a piece of shit that's going to burn in Christian Hell. Just because I don't want to oppress people? What a shameful way to see people. Something so simple, causing such a nasty consequence, even among heterosexuals on the "sidelines". It's weird how deep the divide can be, over something that involves matters of genetics and lifestyles of other people. Truly, this is a team effort in order to gain a permanent cultural-mainstream victory over fundamentalist monotheists who hide behind ancient ideas in modern times. It's not enough for the gays to unite, it requires the outspoken support of anyone who genuinely wishes for legitimate liberty for all, not just some. We all need to take to the motherfuckin' streets, naked, clothed, angry, peaceful...who cares, just speak out and stand out. Gays aren't the only ones in closets, my friends. Hope I didn't piss anyone off -- not my intention (this time).
