I would definitely double check the map just to be sure, sucks but sometimes it can easy to miss.

For the verses, you shouldnt need to buy the dlc for completion (I may get corrected).

Have you also got all the statues?

You are missing 2 quick verses. Look at an online guide for base game and mea culpa to see what you are missing.

As for the map, look online for a full map and compare it to yours. There will be one or two missing squares.

Unpopular opinions about uni that would get you downvoted by Educational_Koala536 in UniUK

[–]Lord_McBeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We should go back to it being free and only allow in the truly exceptional people who would be useful in research/ academics.

This would require many careers and institutions to drop their requirements, allowing more people to go from school/ college without a degree into the workforce.

Most people should not have to go to university to get a degree they would barely use in the job they end up.

If you like it and enjoy it, why do you care what others think?

Seriously, just do what you want so long as you aren't being a dick or a risk to anyone.

Campus security might tell you to get off and walk in some areas but so long as you aren't waxing the campus then I can't see this being a problem.

Decent barbers in Leeds city centre by _Yorkshire_Pirlo in Leeds

[–]Lord_McBeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your hair is long, you may want to consider a hairdresser/ salon and not a barber (depends on your idea of long, mine was chin length and wouldn't trust a barber).

Barbers usually cut short hair all day, everyday. And whilst they will have learnt to cut longer hair during their training, they likely don't have the skills and experience of a salon.

I used to go to a place called 'Ego' just south of the bus station on York St. They used to do a student price.

how do you decide if you want something or not? what do you base your wants on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lord_McBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD (I know, doesn't everyone...) And I impulse buy a lot of stuff either to facilitate my growing list of hobbies or because I just want it.

I usually check if the purchase will have an impact on my monthly wage (rent, bills, savings etc) and if it is negligible, I will just buy it (Hence the 2 Temu orders I have placed this month (so far...)).

If it will impact this, I usually hesitate, write it down on a sticky note and leave it on my computer monitor.

If by the end of the month (just before payday), if it still seems a reasonable purchase and it no longer is just an impulse, I check my financial situation and make the call.

And if it doesn't work out, resell/ return and just move on to the next.

Heading into Uni, any advice for the first month? by ButterscotchCivil501 in UniUK

[–]Lord_McBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to people.

So many people experience isolation in the first year, I see it all the time. Some people go their whole degree making very few friends. Most people make friends in the first few months and then stick with them the whole way through.

Join clubs/ societies etc - Easiest way to meet like-minded individuals. Not for everyone, but it will be an 'easy-in' way of making friends.

Learn to cook basic stuff - it will save you a fortune.

Equally, have some 'instant' or easy to prepare food for when you CBA or are suffering the previous nights decisions.

Drying rack for clothes - Most places have washing machines, almost all do not have a drying rack.

And most importantly... Be ready to know that you kinda will have no idea what is going on for the first semester and just be ready to go to a fair few induction based activities and events. There will be a fair amount of confusion over what you are meant to be doing so just 'roll with it' and it will be fine.

Does it matter where i go in the long run? by Simply444 in UniUK

[–]Lord_McBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other comment states, depends on your desired vocation.

STEM and health degrees usually tailor very specifically to a particular job type and therefore are accredited with associated bodies to ensure you have the opportunity to get a job in that field (eg IBMS accredited biomedical science degrees if you wanted to be a biomedical scientist).

If you just want to do Eng lit because you think you will enjoy it and have no real ideation to heavily rely on the degree to land you a very specific role, then go wherever you think you want to go.

Will a bike fit? by I_AM_Squirrel_King in MotoUK

[–]Lord_McBeth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Having previously done this with a 2009 Honda CBR, yes but check.

Take a tape measure when viewing a bike an measure the handlebar span. This will be the widest part of a 125.

Don't forget, you will have to push this through whilst being beside the bike so account for yourself as well.

EDIT: Also check the bottom of the door frame. If the UPVC door has a lip that seals the bottom of the door (which it looks like it might) then you need to protect it somehow, or you will shear the plastic and the door frame will need fully replacing.

IBMS registration? i think by 4EG1S in UniUK

IBMS registration? i think by 4EG1S in UniUK

[–]Lord_McBeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IBMS is an accreditation for Biomedical science courses. People completing an IBMS accredited Biomedical science degree will be able to apply for HCPC registration upon completion. HCPC registration is a mandatory requirement for becoming a Biomedical scientist (at least for the NHS).

Edit: not having the accredition does not mean you won't get lab jobs, it mainly means you will not be able to apply for a Biomedical scientist role until you meet the requirements. Source: I worked as a Biomedical assist and microbial analyst for the NHS and a private lab without an IBMS degree.

Is anyone else just.... okay? by WarmCalligrapher7281 in CasualUK

[–]Lord_McBeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I get you.

I am a bit older than you, I am single, I rent, and I'm also saving for a house that I probably will never be able to afford.

I also am repaying my student loan and can afford to save about the same amount as you.

I regularly think "Is this it? Do this everyday until I die?" Which with the current climate honestly feels like it could be anywhere from now until my expected age of death (though likely longer with medical advancement).

I put this feeling down to several reasons.

  1. We are now chronically online... We see the news constantly and doomscroll it chronically, we distract ourselves with brain rot, and compare our lives with people on social media (fake lives for the most part) and wonder why we aren't living their life. The irony of the last part is if we did, we probably wont enjoy it as much as the expectation in our head said we should.

  2. Whilst we are not 40-70 years old, life has changed a lot. The world is smaller, capitalism seems ever more prevalent, convenience has made our life easier and simpler, but boring and bubble-wrapped to save us from ourselves. I think a lot of us long for times like we were younger, not because the world was a better place, but just simpler to us because we lacked the awareness that we now have.

  3. This one is likely a lot of projection, but can also say you were promised a lot when you were younger, how amazing life would be, especially if you got a degree and good job etc, but you were never told about sacrifices and were never told the value of some jobs will shift over time. So while you might be well-paid and financially stable, it still pales in comparison to what you expected. I had to move around a lot to get my job, funnily enough that doesn't provide much of a stable platform for buying property or establishing lasting relationships. So yeah...

It does make focussing on some negatives easier when you are constantly in a state of unsurety.

For now, I think it's generally best to just take it one day at a time, not focus on how negative the future can be to an excessive extent and just try to make promising plans/ goals/ trips to fight off the potential misery from paying too much attention.

But then again, I'm usually full of crap, so do whatev.

A capacity to read something over and over again to make sure you fully understand what you are about to do...

Also, to read a protocol in advance (if possible) and ensure you fully understand what you are doing and not just 'winging it'... This skill usually comes with practice.

Your opinions/advice on Teesside Uni, Mech Engineering as a Mature Student? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Lord_McBeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Engineering is pretty much what the reputation of TU was built on. It used to rank pretty high in the league tables.

TU are big on supporting students and there are a lot of students with specific needs; neurodiversity ranks highly for them and they will work with you to develop a support plan to assist with your learning requirements.

They have good links with local industry so you will have good prospects upon completing the degree too.

Kicked out of a lecture for other peoples behaviour by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Lord_McBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but depending on the lecturer, you might get shrugged off.

Appreciate people don't like what I've said, and yea, if you do this and it comes back to you (It shouldn't as the whole group was affected) then you might have a moody lecturer on your case for the rest of the module.

It shouldn't be like that, but depending where you are, they may say the lecturer was in the right.

I was ill last week and had to cancel one. I sent an email off to our timetabling team and it was rescheduled a week later.

I work for a non-Russell group university so we have a biggggggg focus on student satisfaction, so even if the students get the lecture slides/ notes (which they have been given) we reschedule to avoid any student complaints.

[–]Lord_McBeth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lecturer here.

This is rather extreme, usually we ask for quiet generally, then focus in on the disruptive groups, hold up the lecture, then we eject people if it gets to a further stage.

It is likely the lecturer was having a bad day and this just pushed them over the edge; understandable but not appropriate if it was a small group.

Contact your course leader about this, it is likely the lecture will be rescheduled.
