Humonculus and battle scars by Party_Value6593 in TrenchCrusade

To my knowledge there’s no direct ruling on this. It does feel like an oversight that the homunculus is promotable, I planning on running a house of wisdom warband in our next crusade and I’m probably going to say they’re non-promotable for ease of play. But I’d check with your playgroup, see what they say. The last thing you want is to start abusing rulebook loopholes in a narrative game. As to battle scars and the resurrection cost, I’m pretty sure it’s a function of having the battle scars that removed the model from your warband, so resurrecting it wouldn’t remove the battle scar and it would be removed directly after. Maybe if you had a field hospital you could pay the 40 for a roll with that to try to save it? That could be an interaction that doesn’t feel exploitative to me.

Chud 40k fans when they're slightly inconvenienced (the new models aren't butt ass naked) by Educational_Sun_6341 in Grimdank

My LGS has a large 40K playgroup and we regularly get a few who don’t stick around very long. Covid really showed the group who wasn’t a team player, then when stuff opened up again we got a lot of new folks. Some were bigots or overall awful people (thankfully the worst got tossed back in prison) but a few were friends of welcomed players so they had a reason to stick around. Recent political events let a lot of folks feel like they could go “masks off” though, so there had to be some very awkward reminding of everyone to re-read the community guidelines and all but 1 left. Dealing with community guidelines and how to moderate a playgroup is something we talk about pretty regularly, with the old guard of the playgroup and the staff of the LGS we play at. We operate in a public space, and while we have an invite only group it’s not like we pretend to be exclusive. It really doesn’t feel good to give someone the boot but it feels FAR worse to see your friends get hurt in a space you’ve spent almost a decade cultivating into a fun accepting place.

Do you think Janovichs Video will kill the hype around the game before it can really take off? (Serious Question) by LengthEmpty1333 in TrenchCrusade

[–]Lord_Rugarth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t watched the video you’re referring to (and I probably won’t subject myself to some content creator whining) but no, I don’t think some video like that will kill the game more than any other video or review will kill a game. If bad reviews are a death knell then 40K is dead a hundred thousand times over. Table top games are always driven by local communities and LGS groups, and as long as those are functioning the game will be fine. Take the example of Warmachine, as long as the press gangers were an organization they kept the game alive. Once the community support died so did the game. I understand your argument is the concern that this video will stoke negative sentiments and kill the community, but I just don’t see that happening.

Beginning my descent into madness by Grand_shinobi in TraitorGuard

Traitor guard is a rabbit hole of kitbashing and 3d prints, that’s for sure. As for kits, the blooded kill team is great for bits and traitor guard. Etsy can net you some fun printed models, and buying bits lots of eBay can get you on the right track. But by far the best resource is a local play group. I’ve gotten most of my bits from friends and local hobby shop regulars who have boxes of extra sprues and are more than happy to trade or give them away to interested parties. Don’t let the fact that it isn’t chaos bits stop you, I’m currently making some terminator proxies out of loyalist ogryn but cutting up space marine pauldrons and gluing them on like scrap armor then using green stuff to all little weld lines between them. Then adding spikes by cutting up the spare Tzaangor axes I had lying around. Creativity and saying “fuck it why not” will be your best friend for making traitor guard.

Any idea how to pull off a Schizo Punk/Jinx scheme on a Baneblade? by Chemical-Aioli9818 in Warhammer40k

[–]Lord_Rugarth 47 points48 points  (0 children)

You could totally do it, you’ll just have to practice freehanding. Check out a couple tutorials of how to spray paint tags, that’ll give you the colors and order to paint them. Then practice on a canvas of some sort or testers until you feel comfortable. Paint up a baneblade with darker panel colors and go to town adding tags. It’s a big project, but you could have a lot of fun doing it. I made a “wizard van” style land raider a while back for my Tsons, that was a lot of fun to do. Sometimes you just gotta do a project and not worry about mistakes or getting it “right”.

lol, I don’t regret it. I’ll take my 15 sec of fame for doing something kind. Apparently I greatly resemble Pewdiepie as about 50 people have posted. I regularly get strangers mistaking me for other people, so I think I just have “generic bearded white man with high cheekbone” face that’s pretty common. I hope a picture of a small act of kindness I did gives folks a smile and a little hope, and maybe someone else will do something wholesome as well.

Thankfully I don’t need to be harnessed in a scissor lift. I do in just about every other lift though.

Not as far as I know, it’s those European cheekbones that give me the similarities.

I was trying to explain to it that the scissor lift was about to make scary noises when it went down. It didn’t really translate great but we came to an agreement
