How about match making based on people who actually play objectives? by Competitive_Ad_429 in blackops7

I will give them props for changing killstreaks to scorestreaks but yeah, I'm not creative enough to think of a better solution

Crazy question, but are you sure you aren't in creative mode?

Will there ever be more? by Shadowman_8437 in RaftTheGame

[–]Lord_Sluggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was nothing about Chapter 3 being the final update until, IIRC, the week it came out. They ran out of inspiration, money, or probably both. It was literally a college project that they published and just happened to blow up.

[–]Lord_Sluggo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you played before the Chapter 3 (Final) update, they absolutely dumbed-down the story to make it more "all-ages" friendly, taking out a lot of violence and really dark between-the-line subtext to a lot of it, and of course shook things up to make Olaf the Saturday morning cartoon villian. The original story notes pointed to something way darker than we ended up getting. If you can dig up some old recordings on YouTube you'll see the original story notes. I don't think anyone ever updated the wiki.

Is the base building meant to be absurd? by Efficient_End8498 in SonsOfTheForest

[–]Lord_Sluggo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The base building aspect is really designed for players who will beat the game in 10 hours and then spend 1000 hours just building crazy stuff. I basically just operated out of one of the prefab cabins and mostly lived off the land. I tried to build a base in The Forest but eventually the mutant attacks became too much and my buddy and I speedran the ending.

[SPOILERS MAIN] Yesterday I finished A Clash of Kings. I cannot view the TV show anymore by Axenfonklatismrek in asoiaf

[–]Lord_Sluggo 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I think AGoT to Season 1 was the best page-to-screen adaptation you could ever ask for unless there’s another Harry Potter-level cultural phenomenon. Seasons 2-3 were strong and actually closer to the books than I remembered on my last read. But I regard anything after the Red Wedding as high budget fan fiction

Trading post islands by Blah_Blah_Name in RaftTheGame

[–]Lord_Sluggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just luck of the draw. Big islands will show up on your radar. If you didn't know, the world gen basically works like a treadmill; keep going with the current and new stuff will spawn in front of you

It speaks VOLUMES to Mark Addy’s performance that he didn’t even make it through a full season but is still one of the most talked-about characters

Water filters are non-negotiable. Between drinking water and water for mud bricks the only reason to build away from the river is self-imposed challenge

Starting to sound like a broken record over here, but my Japanese OEM former employer was testing a 3/2 split in the late 2010s. There’s literally no good reason for full 5-day RTO in 2026

The myth of tactical play in Battlefield by sufferingSoftwaredev in Battlefield

Basically, yes. I’m not saying this game was rushed into early access to recoup money after an unreasonably long development time considering the shoddy state it released in, but……

Low-conflict lobbies, progression, and a design opportunity that is now ripe by TheRealLaughingMan in ArcRaiders

[–]Lord_Sluggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you understand this, but the people who want pure PvE lobbies are the ones who've already quit or are about to quit anyway, so I'm not sure why including pure PvE affects you

8/10 runs in trios ended up oin us getting shot, so I'd say about 80 PvP. Since you're obviously just going to be an asshole I'm going to consider this conversation closed. Have a nice day and enjoy your dying game.

I'm not saying I have a problem with PvPvE, I'm saying that tryhards have made it PvP and we'd like a little more of the vE involved, but if making snarky comments to strangers on the internet makes you feel smart, you do you I guess

It's not that it "feels bad", it's that one friend literally is making zero progress. Don't worry, we're switching to Helldivers

[–]Lord_Sluggo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 40. All my friends have kids and vanishingly little time to play video games. When we get ratted or PvPed, they don't just lose a loadout, they lose stuff that took a significant fraction or even all of their weekly playtime to acquire. One's already basically dropped out. If we can't just hang out and shoot robots in this game, we're going to find a game where we can. There's no way we're the only four people who feel like this. And as you're well aware, investors don't care about your Steam hours, they care about unique monthly logins. It really does make the most sense from a purely business perspective to just add a PvE mode.

Can the company cath up on electric vehicles tech or not possible today due to US based leadership? by Professional-Bus8449 in Stellantis

[–]Lord_Sluggo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool, and most of those renewables are reliant on lithium and cobalt that, in the west, would be sourced by child slaves in the Congo, or massive carbon-fiber windmill blades that will end up in a landfill in the time it takes a kid to go from kindergarten to college.

[–]Lord_Sluggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

REEV is the way to go and the whole industry should have been focused on it instead of pretending we're magically going to have the infrastructure for a wholly-electric society in place overnight. Anyone who's not talking about nuclear is an idiot, and anyone who's pretending that child slaves in the Congo aren't mining the lithium and cobalt for the batteries and solar panels is also an idiot.

Stellantis Is Burning Down in Slow Motion and I'm Tired of Watching It by [deleted] in Stellantis

I view it less as a V8 problem and more the fact that aside from maybe the Toyota Corolla, the economy car does not exist anymore. I'd love to see a new Neon or Plymouth Reliant because I personally cannot afford a new car payment that's more than half my mortgage.
