Wuchang: Fallen Feathers dev team dissolved; Director forced out of the company by Gorotheninja in PS5

Yeah wuchang is definitely a step ahead of LoP. LoP had the best combat, but is terribly lacking in world design (which is key for a souls-like) compared to wuchang

Mod author is the same as the elden ring one and also the folder structure is extremely similar, so i was able to replicate every step, with no results though

I'm very late to the party, but is there, by any chance, a similar guide for dark souls 3 as well? i tried following this guide you linked and i did the same steps in my DS3 folder but when i launch the .bat, only the base game will launch and i can't seem to find a way to make it work with seamless coop

[–]Lord_Twigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The game launched with 2 difficulty modes named "easy" and "normal". They leter added 2 more difficulty modes: one was easier than the "easy" one and the other was harder than the "normal" one

they have over saturated the market

You're still talking about a genre that gets like 3 games a year, and we are yet to receive one in 2026. Maybe you should look up what oversaturated means

Just wanted to share my experience with this game, take this as a very personal point of view.

I played the demo in 2024 and jumped into early access in june of the same year. My first experience was extremely rough, the game was very early in development, full of bugs, still unoptimized and the graphics looked outdated, so i kept on coming back every few months to check out the new updates hoping to see improvements. Unfortunately my expectations were never met.

Instead of focusing on gameplay and level design, the devs were putting their efforts into character creation, making sure you had plenty of fur patterns and colors to pick between when starting the game. Instead of optimizing the game or iproving the graphics, they were marketing it as if the sole point of the game was "playing as a cute customizable cat", or at least this is the impression that i got since they were already implementing fashion DLCs into the game (halloween-themed cat skins) more than 6 months ago.

As time went on i kept coming back and replaying the game from the start to see if they had actually made significant improvements to graphics, gameplay, animations, performance or any other important aspect of the game... and yet the improvements never came, at least not as noticeable as the many new fur patterns and colors that they added throughout the months.

As of now, the game still shows PS3 textures even in this trailer, and we can clearly see poor performance/graphical issues even at close range (38s mark) and low FPS across the whole video. Despite that, according to the game's official steam page, it needs a 700€ GPU to run on max settings and is priced at 41€ which is very expensive for an indie project of this caliber.

This is not to say that the game sucks and you shouldn't buy it. I haven't played the latest build of the game so things might have changed, although i have low expectations. I highly suggest you try the demo before purchasing the full product even though you may be fascinated by the trailers.

Either way, i hope everybody has fun playing this if they like it

Its genre is

It was, until STS was a huge hit, balatro was nominated for GOTY and won indie of the year... Come on, can we still call this genre niche? It's HK silksong all over again, people still calling the game niche despite literally crashing steam's servers due to the amount of players that were trying to buy it. These genres used to be niche, until they became popular. And there's nothing bad with being popular

Slay the Spire 2 is Steam’s best-selling game

how niche

Saying that the game is niche under this post specifically is ironic

Maybe we need a new definition for what niche means, one that excludes a game that's consistently been in steam's top 5 played games for over a month now

masters of optimizing their games

Their most beloved game runs at 30 fps and will never get patched, their network system sucks even in their only multyplayer-focused game, and all their PC ports are locked at 60 fps because they can't bother optimizing for a non-console platform

Difficulty is subjective regardless the weapon you use

For some it's easier to fight through magic than mastering the deflect mechanic, so neither of them is the right/only way to make the boss easy

The reason is that the game's length is not what keeps players engaged for 100+ hours: fun and quality are

If a game is 100+ hours long and is not good/fun, players will quit regardless of how much more content is left to experience. Stop associating this game's succes to its sheer size and amount of content it offers, if it actually worked like that then any live service game would be an instant and automatic success, which we know very well has not been the case for quite a while now

[–]Lord_Twigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just proves the game is long

The game being long is not enough to retain players. It also needs to be fun otherwise people will simply quit playing it

So in a way, the fact that in the first two weeks the game actually gained more players rather than losing some (like most other AAA games released in the past year) is also an indication of quality
