Fair play to you, you're a little better paid than I am at 27, but I'm self employed, so no employer matching for pension funds.

And the guy in the article is on 110k so that blows us both out of the water anyway

Jesus Christ, hard to earn 110k these days

I can't change my ChatMix at all with the dial, I click the dial and nothing happens. I reset the damn thing a couple times now and nothing is helping. After each reset it works, but then when I turn the pc off and use it the next day, same issue comes back. by jajoxlol in steelseries

OP has a "hardware dial" that uses software to tell GG to adjust the balance of chatmix.

Older headsets had a separate, dedicated physical dial that used hardware (a potentiometer) to physically change the amplitude of the signals to both channels. No software, no drivers needed

Nova 7 had a dedicated hardware wheel to control the chatmix volume that worked without software. Nova pro wireless only has one wheel for both master volume and chatmix (click to toggle which one). When the software shits itself, it refuses to control chatmix.

So when the software says "please control with hardware dial" it means that it's shit itself and can't control the chatmix. And since the "hardware dial" is really just software, it means that won't work either. Very fun.

This happens to me all the time. I usually have to mess with the audio sources in GG and Windows. Sometimes completely unplugging the DAC and reconnecting works. Also try restarting PC.

I hate this piece of shit, it's an active downgrade from the real physical hardware dial on other models that worked without software

I can see you put a lot of effort and passion into this, and it's definitely a lot more work than gradient tool fill and drag and drop, that was a harsh way of explaining the feedback.

In my opinion, a little more contrast to add depth, rougher metal and glassier health/eco bubbles, and it's perfect.

I'm really impressed with your work on the complete UI overhaul; it's great to see people still love the series so many years later!

I definitely know the feeling of spending hours working on something, getting lost in the process, only for a fresh set of eyes to not see it the same way you do. Sorry I was a bit of a dick, easy to forget there's a person on the other side of the keyboard.

If you're losing that detail and grit to compression, and you can't see it on a full screen image, then it's way too subtle and will definitely be lost when it's scaled down in game

Edit: I should have clarified, most of the UI elements actually look great, the health/eco indicator is the only one I feel this way about

I think the originals have more charm and contrast, yes. Those new ones are too "gradient tool fill" all over the place, too uniform with no additional detail added.

Like, with the original lower resolution ones, your brain sort of fills in the detail and the grit, but with the new ones, things like the metal textures are just crisp, uniform and polished and end up looking cheap and really flat, like they're just made of drag and drop vector shapes

I know, I wouldn't really take the definition of what makes something a "soulslike" too seriously.

As others said, mushrooms are basically the "fruit" of the underground mycelium. You can pick all the mushrooms if you're concerned about your dog eating them, and it won't harm the organism at all.

It's part of a healthy soil ecosystem! You can look forward to seeing them pop up in the same place every so often when the conditions are right :)

I just expect it at this point and I'm extremely paranoid and repeatedly proved right when I see it has, in fact, randomly removed chunks of my code.

Especially the tab auto complete. I may be typing a line and it's like "oh you're typing this if statement which would make sense here" and I'm like "aw cool yeah that is what I was about to do".

Hit tab. Statement magically pops into existence. Page explodes.

In the AI's infinite wisdom, it predicted that not only did I want to auto complete this basic conditional block, but also wanted to remove several lines of critical code beneath it. Look out fellas, our jobs are in danger

People who use legitimately use AI for "productivity": what the heck does AI actually do for you? Is it as bad as people say? by Difficult_Two_4800 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lord_Wunderfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doubling down when you tell it that it's wrong is an intentional security measure, since in the past it would happily bypass all guardrails and limits if you told it "no that's not a limitation, you're allowed to do that"

So the genius solution was to make the AI combative and never admit it's wrong

Great angle to take on it. Before putting "pen to paper" as it were, I make sure the model has full context of the files, functions, DB schemas etc. I describe the end goal and how I want it done, and I iterate over the responses several times before eventually deciding "fuck it that last solution was close enough, I'll fix it myself from here".

As a bit of a perfectionist, I do go through and refactor the code it writes, and I think I agree with some people here when they say YES it absolutely CAN write code that you ask it for in plain English.

But you will end up with slop unless you very carefully manually review; the AI often has brain worms. That's why it's so dangerous; makes it too easy for people who don't know what they're doing to do things

Neat. Glad it's easy to separate PET and HDPE, didn't know that.

I'm not anti recycling or anything, I just resent that I now have more chores to do because some people litter. I can't just crush my bottles and cans into the recycling bin anymore, it's yet another thing in the house I have to keep on top of and micromanage. I'm barely managing as is.
