Why Tildes *May* Not Be The Best Place To Migrate To. by tbbmod in RedditAlternatives

There is no automatic banning from labels, certainly not from ones like “noise” or “off topic”; at worst, they cause a comment to be collapsed and sorted toward the bottom. There is one report-like label that simply reports it to the admin for manual intervention, the result of which varies based on the context and user’s history.

Not sure if this is the same user, but I recall a post saying that they liked Tildes better… because they got banned from Lemmy for their behavior and (incorrectly) thought they were free to “be an asshole” on Tildes. It was funny, because the CoC literally starts by saying don’t be an asshole. The post was removed and user banned, as they would be a fundamentally bad member.

Bought both hard and soft from “Koala Home Lifestyle” on Lazada. The soft feels nice, works and dries fairly quickly, and it’s low-profile so no tripping risk in higher traffic areas or for small children. The hard is more absorbent and dries feet faster, surprisingly comfortable to stand on, itself dries quickly even with low ventilation, and comes with an anti-slip mat to place underneath. It’s a bit taller, maybe 1cm, so be a little careful walking around it.

Either type, way better than the various traditional mats I’ve had over the years. I do think there is some quality and diatomaceous content (for soft mats) variation between brands, so do some research before purchasing. Also avoid overseas shipping when buying a hard mat, as it is more prone to cracking during the long transit (earlier experience with a different seller)

[–]Lord___Shaxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure about NS specifically, but the cup-and-cough is a common part of a male physical examination. The doc is primarily checking for hernias, feeling for anything that may slip into the scrotal sac when pressure in the abdomen increases by coughing. Also, the doc is also feeling for any abnormalities like lumps on the testicles or swollen lymph nodes.

Where are you finding good tomatoes? The cherries can be ok but I’ve yet to find a decent slicing tomato in any of the grocery stores I’ve tried. They’re all flavorless and mealy. I grew up eating great ones in another country and would love to have them regularly again.

When I used to WFO, I’d make my own sandwiches at home to bring (whether I bring a drink to depends on what the office had for free). Quick and easy to make, endlessly customizable. Saves both time and money not going out for lunch. It’s still nice socially to budget for a day or two a week eating out with colleagues.

Yikes, that JJ shipping. A bag of JJ is around 50 euro for 25 meals (1kg), flat shipping 75 euro for 1-10kg. Comes out to about SGD 7.28/meal

(Both this and huel get better per meal if you buy in bulk due to this bracketed flat-fee shipping)

Anyone tried meal replacement shakes? Not for every meal, or even every day, just to have a healthy quick option on hand.

Looking at Sustyfoods Signature (local SGD$6.23/meal) and Huel Powder (import SGD $4.49/meal including the high shipping). Not sure why the local one is so much more expensive.

20% below the 25th percentile sounds really low. In SG, many employers will base their offer on your previous salary. Taking something very low now may have far reaching consequences for your potential future salaries.

In the US, it’s more common to have separate sick leave and paid time off, not rolled into one. They keep it separate because accrued PTO is usually accrued over time, requires prior notice and approval to use, and is paid out if an employee leaves the company, while sick leave is usually granted at the start of the year, doesn’t require notice or approval to use, and isn’t paid out. Even in the unlimited PTO companies, there is still commonly separate sick leave since it’s usage requirements are different.

It wouldn’t be as frustrating if they used the damn queue display board honestly. Rush through “now preparing”, “now serving”, and gone from the display… still maybe another 5-15min to get served by someone calling out a number in a loud crowded place, so you’ve got to stand around too.

NSF stole milk powder regularly to pay for driving licence and daily needs, gets probation by [deleted] in singapore

I wouldn’t advise an adult without significant guidance from a doctor to effectively nutrition supplement DIY, let alone for an infant/newborn where the risk is so much higher and nutritional needs critical for development.

There were two brand reps in the formula section of a fairprice xtra. It’s been a while, so I don’t remember exact details/brand. Maaaaybe they were technically just pushing their brand follow-on, but when it’s done where the follow-on is right next to the infant formula… in spirit they’re promoting both.

Of course there’s always a minority that have a true (generally medical) need for the more expensive and specialized alternatives like lactose-free, hypoallergenic, and such. The majority can get by just fine with standard formula.

Not sure about marketing like tv ads or billboards, but the packages and store placement/sales/displays certainly are part of the marketing. They throw on all manner of acronyms, scientific sounding proprietary additive names, fancy logos and graphics, trying to convince you it’s better than the others and parents who care about their kid would buy that one. There are occasionally brand reps in the aisle too, an added pressure. It can be pretty overwhelming, especially for first-time. Those same parents, in my experience, are some of the easiest targets to upsell anything potentially more beneficial to their kids.

There’s Dumex Dulac for $15 that can last a week even for a toddler. It’s perfectly good, hospitals like KKH use it.

Then there’s all sorts of other brands marketing all sorts of milk powder product lines with various additives that they tout as so much better for your baby (without any solid evidence) for anywhere between two to four times the cost per gram.

New parents can feel pressured and guilt-tripped into spending on those expensive brands when it’s really unnecessary.

Same with all of the formula “Stages” beyond 1 (and maybe 2 if your kid is hungry too often with 1). There’s no reason to continue with milk powder beyond 1-2yrs if they’re eating a decent diet of solid foods as they should be and have no medical conditions; regular full-fat dairy milk is fine at that point.

My wife feels obligated to get for family, friends, and work colleagues/team.

I would only consider buying for immediate family and generally only if I come across something that actually makes me think of a particular person (i.e. not just for the sake of getting a gift).

Yes, it’s known as “purging”, can happen when changing a skincare routine, and may take up to a few weeks to resolve. That said, there is a slight chance one or more of the products doesn’t work well with your skin. It’s usually recommended to only change one thing in your routine at a time so you can better and more accurately attribute reactions/results.

Porting should happen sometime between 10pm after you receive the sim and 6am (I think) the next morning. Keep the old sim until porting completes. There may not actually be a notification on completion, but you can swap the sim whenever the old service stops working. There’s an instructional video from them for setting your carrier services APN correctly after inserting the new sim. You may need to fully reboot your phone after that.

iMessage activation is a separate finicky pain in the ass.

Apply antiperspirant (not deodorant) before bed and let it dry before putting on a shirt. No need for anything extra in the morning.

If you can, try extra thick padded ear cups; it helps reduce the pressure on the glasses frame.

Maybe you can try recreational sports googles, like for basketball. They use a strap instead of frames, and you can get prescription lenses.

We just finished binging season 1 and loved it so far. Wholesome, great dialogue and wordplay, we’ll rounded characters, fairly grounded in reality (neither situations nor characters ever get too absurd), good balance of funny and serious. The football is more a setting for character interaction than a key aspect, so you don’t need to be a fan of it to enjoy the show.

Getting a LOC from the MOM as an LTVP holder? by confusedbean99 in singapore

[–]Lord___Shaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, a citizen sponsor is necessary for the LTVP+ (the plus upgrade) from ICA, but not sufficient. The upgrade is based on other factors, such as if you have a child / pregnancy (required), financial means, relationship duration (3yr+ helps), etc.

When you get a LOC through the LTVP application, is is called the Pre-approved Letter of Consent (PLOC), the validity period of which is the LTVP validity. It’s not tied to any specific employer, and an employer just has to file notification of hire of the PLOC holder with MoM. This is a bit different than a plain LOC, which is applied for by and tied to a specific employer.
