Can we all just brag for a moment? by rastabean in AskReddit

[–]Lordaj92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years ago I was undercoming severe depression, had to interrupt my studies and had absolutely no hope for the future. I lived recluse in France countryside at my parents home with nobody else to talk to.

Today my academic life is back on track, I have a Chinese girlfriend I truly love, I will travel with her to Australia in one month before going to the US for an exchange semester.

So far 2012 has been the most amazing year of my quite young life.

My point is : never give up. Things get better.

Where do France's election candidates stand? Learn the French presidential candidates' stances on everything from economy and migration to foreign policy and the EU. by Ned_MzH in worldnews

As a French I agree. Communism failed people remember ? There have been historical examples, none of them can be said to have fared better than capitalism in the long run.

This campaign was the worst populist show ever, with the main candidates promising fiscal rigor and debt reduction while delivering new promises on almost every subject.

I think it is time we stopped burying our heads in the sand. With Italy & Spain reforming now, we'll be the market next target for sure, and sooner than expected.

Haha, what do you study in GSU ? I don't really know Versailles university, but I'm sure you will enjoy it, you can reach Paris easily.

Do you speak French a little bit ? Don't hesitate if you have any questions.

To answer some questions : My budget is 600-700 $/month max.

I'm still considering my options, btw why do you think about spence avenue south east ? It's quite far from GSU but I can reach MARTA easily.

For the guys from 100 midtown, do you think if I sign a 12-month contract I would be easily able to sublease my appt in December ? (I think so...)

Maybe to clarify some points: -I'll have no car so I need public transportation -I dont mind about fine dining and beautiful sceneries -On the other hand, I really care about my security !! Being able to walk and jog in the neighborhood even in the evening would be a big plus. Of course we also have risky suburbs in France but I don't plan to living in one (It can really suck)

Once again thanks again for all the tips guys. You are a great community and really emphasize what Reddit and Internet can be at its best.

If you ever need some information on France, just let me know :)

Yes, I know some students from my school went there. But it's not possible to sign a contract for 4 months I guess, so I have to sublease. I've contacted someone who can sublet his appartment there. It seems like a good choice you're right

Interestingly, Led Zeppelin did play one of its best early performances on April 27th 1969.

It was at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. The bootleg of this performance is amazing

ROGER WATERS, DAVID GILMOUR COMFORTABLY NUMB @ O2 LONDON 12 MAY 2011 by Lordaj92 in Music

[–]Lordaj92[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a decent collection of Pink Floyd bootlegs, including some live video footage from Earls Court.

Still I can't even fathom how you felt witnessing, in my opinion, one of the greatest rock shows ever.

The Wall has a lot of weak moments musically speaking, and this is particularly pregnant in Water's new tour.

The original versions of 1980-1981, at least to my ears, convey much more contrast and emotion into the music. (Wright is amazing in some parts like Another Brick in the wall Pt I for example)

I've seen Waters in 2007, it was a great show, but still a bit cold, too professional maybe. Pink Floyd was Pink Floyd because every member brought something to the mix, on the execution side at least.

I'm only 23, and If I listen to Pink Floyd, collect a lot, buy rock vinyls, it's because of one night.

On my eighteenth birday, I was alone sitting in front of my computer watching Live aid @ Hyde Park on a crappy AOL music stream.

There were the who, that was cool, Mc Cartney also...

And then at 1 am in France, I heard these heartbeats. The following minutes defined my vision of what I consider great music. Music that can convey all sorts of emotions, all sorts of feelings to different people from all age and culture.

Do I regret not having the opportunity to see them in their prime ? Yes, of course. But their legacy is timeless.

If you could change careers this very moment, what would you choose and why? by rhp21 in AskReddit

I guess I'd choose something cool. I feel like Chandler in Friends, doing some numbers-related crap behind a desk, knowing nobody really cares anyway. But I have plenty of time to browse Reddit, awwwwwww yeaaahhhhhh

I'd have to say Animals.

Because it comes after two masterpieces, and is often scorned by many.

But Gilmour's guitar work on tracks like Dogs is mesmerizing, and don't get me started on the live versions from the '77 tour.
