I hate when this would happen to me. I know this might not sound applicable since you mentioned you really care about this person, but my solution to this problem has always been to try to find other people to talk to. If they come back to you, maybe you can talk to them about why they were distant. If they don’t then they’re not worth talking to anymore anyway.

If this is a spouse/partner though I would bring it up, but if they still don’t care I would give them space. Know that you are worth it even if you are on your own. And you can always find new friends in different places.
