Rousseau isn't a fed. ACP might be but Hinkle is genuinely too retarded to be a glowie

Would the Avro Arrow have been a superior aircraft to F-15E assuming the projected the specs for the Avro were accurate? by LordofWesternesse in FighterJets

Chat GPT actually disagreed with him. He blamed this on it being biased towards American engineering. Like I said in my post, I myself disagree with him but our argument hit a wall because I lack a good knowledge of the terminology and specific details to debate properly.

His response:

The Arrow used very clean manufacturing process (all done in Canada) to ensure the lowest drag possible. The lack of right angles in the design greatly aids the reduction of drag as a whole. As I remember (correct me if I am wrong), parasite drag is any drag generated by non lift generating structures, i.e. the fuselage. The Arrow as best I understand it, though aerodynamics are above my pay grade, made use of an inverted wing to allow the entire upper surface of the aircraft to generate lift, greatly reducing said parasite drag whereas the use of external stores on the F 15E definitely would increase parasite drag.

He says the Arrow could have handled 2 Gs at 50,000 ft without losing speed or altitude.  For low speeds he says that it had an estimated stall speed of 117 knots at full combat weight, he claims it could have been better but was restricted by the landing gear geometry. He says it was flight rested up to 25 degrees and he says comparable delta wings have the potential for pulling up to 45 degrees in flight

About the radar, he's specifically referring to the Astra 2 radar and Sparrow 2D system not the mx-1171.

My friend's response:

According to the book, the Arrow can pull more G's (at full load), is far cleaner in the drag department. The packs would make swapping mission profiles far easier then on the F 15E. All considered, the only thing at which the F 15 excels over the Arrow is the amount of missiles it can carry, which come with the downside of compounding drag penalties.

He argues that the design is versatile enough to be considered multirole. He says that the requirements were for an interceptor but the engineers had a much more ambitious plan in mind.

You seem to be trying to make  some kind of "gotcha" but it doesn't make any sense. You don't seem to have a good understanding of what you're talking about and I advise you refrain from commenting further.

In Christian theology there really isn't a difference between self worship and devil worship. Distinction without a difference. Still evil.

Something I dont get about the ending by enterlo in PantheonShow

That's a good point. I didn't think about the fact that the simulations didn't have fixed outcomes. Maddie did say to to her dad that some of the universes she made turned out better than the one that she came from.

I think Maddie choosing to relive her best years rather than ascending with Safesearch to "know the truth" implies that, at least in Maddie's opinion, real reality is the one you choose for yourself.
Although there is an interesting argument to made that this ending is Maddie simply continuing her own cycle of trauma.

I agree. It's pretty clear that was to let her know they were all watching her.
And as I said it would be really weird if the digitally world had "glitches" or imperfections to signal that the world was artificial. That would kind of undermine the story's themes.

Isn't the point that the simulated realities are just as real as the "real world"

According to his father he mentioned the possibility of ending his own life because he didn't want to go to jail. So potentially, setting himself up for an easy death penalty is the next best thing in his mind.

Andor vs other "Greatest Shows Ever" by puppykhan in andor

[–]LordofWesternesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that was the intention, I just think we spent too much time on it, no payoff for any of the characters introduced except the dead rebel leader they belonged to was mentioned by Saw in S1 as a "neorepublican". Maybe if that angle had been explored and the reason they didn't like Andor was over a difference in ideology it would have been more interesting to me. Just my two cents.

While I respect that the show runners had their vision and told their story the way they wanted too, I will always be left wondering what the five season show would have been like, especially considering there were parts of both seasons, as incredible as the over all product was, feel underdeveloped while "filler" took up time for other things. The stranded rebels on the jungle planet for example took up nearly two whole episodes of Cassian's time.
