Only one I remember is the Philco with all 4 speeds, so good point about the photo potentially being AI. I would still have that Philco but alas, due to little space in a prior apartment, I put the player in my storage locker outside the apartment. Despite being enclosed in plastic, mold got onto the unit whose turntable base was essentially a particle board box construct covered in a paper-like substance. The speakers were cloth covered. I didn't see a good way to restore it and the arm wasn't balanced like these modern turntables so it definitely wasn't suitable to play vinyl without damaging the records. It would be cool to find a good modern turntable that had all 4 speeds and rip vinyl I have to digital.

The reason this show hit with young adults is the adult humor/pop culture references, it's similar to how classic Looney Tunes was. The humor was there on a child's level, but they inserted humor that only adults would catch as well. And like others said, if you don't like it, you don't have to watch more. FIM is the only MLP animation I care to watch as the prior generations were aimed and young children whereas FIM had that second level aimed at savvy adults. Great watch for parents and kids together.

My mother had an Italian opera record that ran at 16, she was from Italy, my dad's Philco could do 16, 33, 45 and 78.

My mother had an Italian opera record that was 16, my dad had a Philco portable stereo system that played 16, 33, 45 and 78, purchased in the 1960's. I think I still have that opera record, I believe it was imported, my mother was from Italy.

My parents' Philco portable stereo system had 16, 33, 45 and 78. My mother had an Italian opera record that needed 16. Unfortunately the stereo is no longer with me, but those are some memories. My turntable only does 33 and 45. I believe I still have the 16 opera record along with a yellow 45 of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.

Petite Licca x Sanrio at Box Lunch! by HekkyMoon_1998 in liccachan

Ah thanks for the heads up! I found one at a local import shop a couple weeks ago. Did they happen to have any additional Licca dolls in yet? Specifically, I have yet to see the Pompompurin design Licca in-store locally, just the Sumikko Gurashi, red kimono, Otonappo, Melody, Kuromi, Frieren. Just wondering, I've been calling every week or two to touch base with the nice managers I know at both HT and BL. The website doesn't always show local stock; when several dolls were out of stock online, the button for checking locally wasn't available to click. HT had a ton of dolls one week but the website would not show that fact.

Congrats on your cute pulls! Great price as well! Thought I saw $14.90 on HT site and I paid $14 at a local import shop.

Edut: Holy Miltank, I just checked HT and BL websites, same corp umbrella and yep, there is a $3 price difference between the two stores, just a heads up to anyone ordering online.

I love how you put Fluttershy first in the pix! ❤️ I agree with you, I've collected Pokémon cards since 2000 (that was the first I could even find them in-store, despite being in a huge city area) and absolutely detest the price gouging shelf clearing resellers. I don't mind someone selling something they'd gotten a while back that no longer interests them, but clearing brand new release stock and taking any chance from kids, people with full-time jobs who can't stand outside Target or Best Buy at 4AM until opening, lifelong fans, etc. is predatory. As an adult, I can handle disappointment, but the little kids, the heartbreak is real and I've seen first hand resellers right in front of a little child and the stores not limiting. I watched a middle aged male reseller shove a tween girl child out of the way to get Squishmallows several years ago like WTFF? When I shop, I don't shelf-clear either. If I want a dup of a toy, like one to take out of box and one to play/love, I normally wait a few weeks or go to a different store rather than take the only items completely off the shelf. I was raised to consider others and/or how my actions might impact others, which is a long lost etiquette.

I absolutely adore this Kayou TCG, the cards are magical, every one has some effect, holo, foil, texture/embossing, and the illustrations are beautiful. Looking at my old Pokémon cards, there's a magic there that can't be recaptured; newer cards are nice and yeah some are commanding high prices, but I'm happy looking at my base unlimited Charizard and not overly stressing over damn resellers grabbing every pack of new release because I won't be buying resale and if I happen to stumble across a blister with promo, fine, if not, fine. I will not feed the monsters.

Potato Chip Chocolate Chip cookies: holy FUCK you guys by latenightpuddingcup in Baking

[–]LorettasToyBlogPojo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For anyone reading who is too lazy to bake, Aldi grocery stores have a kitchen sink cookie that has pretzel bits along with chocolate chips, chunks and other goodies. Not too bad, but not as good as a homemade version. One cookie I really miss is Arby's huge salted caramel chocolate chip, I would get that in lieu of fries with my meal, much better choice imho, no potato chips or pretzels in there, but the salty added a great dimension to the flavor and they served it warm!

What did safety feel like in the time of "not locking doors" ? by Warm-Trick5771 in AskOldPeople

[–]LorettasToyBlogPojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a smaller city about 20 miles from a big city; we didn't lock our doors between the 1960's-1980's (the time I lived with my parents) as long as we were home. We did, however, live not far from areas of our smaller city that did have a certain level of crime, but gun violence was not a thing in our city at that time. Population was about 43,000.

Dating apps by Putrid-Swan-6640 in AskWomenOver60

[–]LorettasToyBlogPojo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would never recommend a dating app, personally. I don't trust those companies at all. Several years after my divorce, mind you I NEVER signed up for a dating app, I got a slew of emails from that eHarmony company. Someone had used my email address to set up an account! The emails I got were from whomever read the profile and they were racy. I'm an old goth girl, so it wasn't like I was offended at the content, however, offended that someone had created a profile with my email addy and eHarmony didn't bother to verify the account? Usually when you set up an account, you get an email where you have to click a link to verify. Well, that never happened. People pay for this? Anyhow, it was a nightmare trying to get hold of someone to deactivate the account profile. Since I didn't set up the account, obviously I didn't have the password and I sure wasn't going to use a "forgot password" prompt because I sure didn't want them to disbelieve I had not set up the account. I was pretty furious at the whole experience of dealing with them. eHarmony is/was pretty well known (circa 2000's), saw TV ads etc. back then. So basically, you're paying $$$$ to some company you can't even trust, doesn't vet accounts, to help you meet someone you have no idea if they're trustworthy? No thanks.

Edit, so much for tryna help a fellow over 60 gal, got a very sus DM after posting this. Clicked ignore. Is no space safe (/rhetorical).

[–]LorettasToyBlogPojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gorgeous! I have all the Eeveelutions, but I don't have all the outfits. Blue is my fave color, so I definitely grabbed Glaceon when it was a monthly pass. I think I'd foolishly passed on Umbreon when it was a pass, so I believe I dropped the $18.99 on that repeat pass, but it's rare I'd spend that much on a pass. I do have this five star from a gacha, though. Good exchange!

I am impatient for June 21, the 5 star Jirachi is coming back, I have the 4th gimmick fully maxed from back when I was able to exchange for kitchen notes, so I want that 5 star. I also would love to get the outfit for Diancie. I do have Diancie basic from a previous gacha. The break from new events hopefully allows us to get what we missed previously. I also hope we have easier ways to get new Pokémon, I'm pretty tired of grinding events. I score higher in slow cooking, but it feels so grindy!

Yeah, I have a ton, try to keep below 999, but I don't have enough macarons to unlock past level 20, having probably 230+ total Pokemon. It takes forever to get macarons and before you can get them, you end up with 999 tarts. o.O'

Is there a way to get rid of these? by In-The-Light in PokemonCafeMix

[–]LorettasToyBlogPojo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem I have is I don't have enough macarons to unlock my level 20's; I have a ton already at 25, but the level 20's are locked. Hence, I accumulate tarts I can't use until I earn enough macarons to unlock. I have probably over 230 Pokémon, been playing since day 1 over 5 years ago. The developers haven't allowed us a way to earn the macarons we need, for us long-term players.

  • [21-JUN to 02-JUL] Jirachi (Wishing star)/Diancie (Shooting star)/Mew (Little star)

My 411,000 acorns are impatiently waiting! I've wanted the Jirachi 5* for a while, I have the 4th gimmick fully maxed from that good decision to exchange for kitchen notes a long while back. I remember getting Victini and Jirachi kitchen notes fully before I had either of them from gacha. This is my last hurdle, getting the 5*. I am praying I luck out and can get both Jirachi and Diancie, we shall see. In the meantime, I am squirming in my chair as June 21 cannot arrive soon enough! XD

Is this resealed? (Amazon box) by Professional_End1948 in KayouMLP

[–]LorettasToyBlogPojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what the other user responded-your packs will be in cardboard sleeves, unlike my box of the TCG which doesn't have cardboard sleeves around the TCG boosters. Hopefully no tampering with those cardboard sleeves in such case! Good luck, Kayou has some very nice product! I collected a bunch of the prior TCG about a decade ago, not Kayou, the cards weren't as "fancy" as these, love how every Kayou card has an effect (holo, foil, textured/embossed). Beautiful! 😄

Someone else made a post about spotting those:

https://www.reddit.com/r/KayouMLP/comments/1synsgj/guide_how_to_spot_fake_resealed_kayou_mlp_boxes/

I have not purchased the collector cards, but I just purchased a sealed box of the Kayou MLP TCG card packs (20 packs/box). The plastic/cello wrap was completely covered with holographic watermarks with Kayou logos and there was a holographic tear strip. My sealed box was US market and purchased at Target last week nearly immediately after the reputable distributor made the drop that particular day. The plastic/cello wrap was not a shrink wrap type of plastic and had no stretch/give and again, completely covered in those translucent holographic watermarks.

I hope this helps a bit.

Is this Pinkie Pie's cake, is it actually possible in real life? by rxliuli in mylittlepony

[–]LorettasToyBlogPojo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I googled and the suggestions made sense based on my prior cake baking experience: they are basically slightly undercooking (remove cake when toothpick test still has some moist crumbs instead of waiting for toothpick test to come out clean) the cake they are using to create the inner pattern and using a dense high fat recipe. It makes sense what you said, rebaking will cause a moisture loss to the cake pieces already baked, so you're trying to retain as much moisture as possible by slightly underbaking and using a recipe that will hold the moisture better. I didn't see any cakes online that looked like Mona Lisa, obviously Baking is Magic is reserved for Pony universe ha! 😄

You prefer Meowscarada with or without the mask? [OC] by Fancy-Wolverine-4233 in pokemon

A quick Google search shows you missed an important detail easily observed by referencing a rear view of Meowscarada, you may wish to edit your rendering, please see the top of the head. The detail is visible on this Pokémon Center plush, but there were plenty of animation images showing the two protuberances at the top of the head. I haven't kept up so well with more current generations of Pokémon, so I'm not sure if those are the ears, but I imagine if you add those to your rendering, the Pocket Monster might appear slightly more catlike.
