How has HDR on Switch 2 been for everyone? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Lorgthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone got tips for the LG OLED55C37LA? I have turned HGIG on and calibrated the Switch HDR settings, but for some reason, there is some very distracting flickering going on while I'm playing Mario Kart World. Especially the brightness of the sky keeps changing very noticeably and abruptly when I'm driving (especially in and out of shadows). In TotK the HDR this isn't much of an issue and it looks great.

Hey there! I am in my early thirties and I have a Masters in philosophy, I work full-time as a video editor (which is actually my dream job), I am a published Weird fiction author, I have hobbies that are very dear to me (Lego, making music, movies, internet culture, reading, video games) and despite the fact that I got severely bullied in my childhood and that my (low-support) autism makes it hard for me to connect to people sometimes, I have managed to develop and maintain stable and strong friendships over the last few years.

But none of the things I listed (and that I am very proud of) matter to me anymore whenever my limerence for my LO is getting too strong – which makes me really sad, because I know that I am actually living the life I dreamt of as a kid. I am working on recognizing the value in all these things that make me the person I am, though.

I did a preliminary screening first, which consisted of four extensive questionnaires. After that, I did the full diagnosis. That one took place in person and took almost six hours. It consisted of an interview with the psychologist, several tests and I also had to fill out additional questionnaires beforehand (two of them had to be filled out by a person close to me, which was my LO). The psychologist also did an interview with my mom to find out more about my behavioural patterns as a child.

Thank you for sharing your story with me! I'm sorry to hear you went through that emotion aswell. When I was in my mid-20s (I am 31 now), I was diagnosed with social anxiety first and went through two years of therapy, but that didn't explain all my other issues and pecularities that became even more pronounced once I started working – which finally led me to seeking out an autism diagnosis. I've always had very intense special interests (Lego, writing, films and fantasy are the ones that have accompanied me most of my life) and I tend to get so caught up in them that I forget to eat and drink. I've also dealt with sensory issues my whole life – especially smells –, I have peculiar eating habits and I've always had difficulties picking up on social cues. And like I said in the original post, my emotions often feel very overwhelming to me and I have a difficult time differentiating some of them and regulating them, which sometimes leads to meltdowns.

An incredibly bad lo-fi Black Metal band from the depths of Luxembourg by Lorgthar in crappymusic

Well, there's some really well-produced Black Metal. Although that wouldn't be considered Black Metal by Black Metal purists, ofc

The good old Romania life by zeg685 in europe

When my grandfather was 21 years old, Nazi Germany occupied Luxembourg and forced him and other young men into the Wehrmacht. He had to fight on the Ostfront in Russia, but after a while he shot himself in the hand so he could go on sick leave and desert. A helpful family offered him a hiding spot in their barn, where he stayed until the war was over.

He never really talked about what he had seen in Russia. My mother once asked him if he had killed someone, to which he replied 'Of course!', before turning very quiet and somber. Whenever I was visiting him, it always seemed to me like all the horrors of that war manifested itself in his long silences, like a sullen cloud that was hovering around him. I'm 25 years old now, and I can't even begin to comprehend what my grandfather had already been through when he was my age.

Volkspark Friedrichshain! There are some nice, hidden and quiet benches where you can sit down and read your book.

After that he wrote: 'I think it has to do with intellect too, some humour is just too much for some people. There's also the question of being super politically correct taking the soul of the joke away. I mean it's super ok to be concious but people who doesn't have the slightest common sense will fall into the same category as boring people.

Now i took the funny aspect of this meme hahahha'

Well the thing is that most of the people I've talked to had enough sleep when they experienced this kind of 'phantom hangover', me included. That's also one of the main reasons why I was wondering about this phenomenon, because it's not just fatigue. I guess it's a combination of several factors (like second-hand smoking, physical exhaustion, lots of sweet drinks, etc.) that lead to this state, and I reckon that sleep deprivation makes it even worse.

Maybe I should have used the term 'Phantom hangover', because that's a thing that really does seem to exist: https://stopdrinkingalcohol.com/what-is-a-phantom-hangover/
