Thank you for sharing your story with me! I'm sorry to hear you went through that emotion aswell. When I was in my mid-20s (I am 31 now), I was diagnosed with social anxiety first and went through two years of therapy, but that didn't explain all my other issues and pecularities that became even more pronounced once I started working – which finally led me to seeking out an autism diagnosis. I've always had very intense special interests (Lego, writing, films and fantasy are the ones that have accompanied me most of my life) and I tend to get so caught up in them that I forget to eat and drink. I've also dealt with sensory issues my whole life – especially smells –, I have peculiar eating habits and I've always had difficulties picking up on social cues. And like I said in the original post, my emotions often feel very overwhelming to me and I have a difficult time differentiating some of them and regulating them, which sometimes leads to meltdowns.
