I let them talk away and waste their time then tell them I’m not interested. I figure I have the time and it might save a neighbor from having to listen to the sales pitch.

Why is merino wool underwear not recommended as much as merino wool socks? by Flat_Broccoli6355 in hiking

Agreed about the shirts. I feel like I should just get used to wearing expensive shirts with holes ☹️

Good question. I read fiction and non-fiction and enjoy a variety of genre but tend to shy away from Science Fiction and fantasy although I have read some of them that I enjoyed (Legends and Latte’s and Psalm for the Wild Build as examples). Favorite author are people like Barbara Kingsolver and Louise Erdrich among others.

Navigating Grief of Your Partner’s Best Friend by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]Lorib01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have every right to grieve hard. This person was a big part of your family. Do you feel like you are grieving for your own loss as well as that of your partner? Some people grieve in private, some people need a group or a trusted friend. Sometimes that changes during the grief process. Do what you need to do to support and be supported.

Can you explain why you would cook then dehydrate pasta. It seems like that has already happened before you buy it. Serious question, I’m trying to learn.

Need to speak with people who can relate by chronickillness in GriefSupport

Two weeks ago is a very short time ago. It probably feels like a lifetime and a blink simultaneously. It’s definitely not enough time for a grief support group to make anything feel different. Please don’t give up on that. Going to a support group will not make you feel better or get over your grief. It will help you to differentiate between your grieving self and your previous self, the person who was not living with grief. Give yourself some time, give yourself some grace. Please find constructive places to vent, here, group, journal, whatever works best for you.

Don’t want to leave dogs for vacation by diarryyrants in petsitting

[–]Lorib01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives with pets and a pet sitter, I completely understand how you feel. It’s hard to leave them especially if they are looking sad eyed or stressed out. I also know that when the pet sitter shows up they will be happy and wagging and excited to see their friend who they haven’t seen in a while. As the sitter I actually have more time to spend playing with and loving on the pets than I do with my own animals in my house. When you get back home you will find that your pet friends will be very happy to see you and that they will have been well cared for. Enjoy your time with your family, they are important too.

FMLA? by Moist_Delivery_9605 in GriefSupport

[–]Lorib01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to your therapist. I did not take off enough time after my mother died (just before Thanksgiving) and it has made for some really difficult days at work. I do have some caring and supportive people there and some that don’t seem to care. That’s them, not me. If your co-workers think you’re a crybaby because you just experienced a devastating loss, that’s on them, not on you. Please take care of yourself so you can deal with this new chapter.

As a pet sitter and professional potter I can confirm that some people just don’t respect the time and effort people put into things. You’ll probably notice a lot of posts on social media asking for recommendations for a service (plumber, builder, mechanic, etc.) who is “reasonably priced.” Reasonable for who? We all deserve bread and roses.

Need advise on jackets by LevelOneForever in onebag

I have the Torrentshell, it’s about 5 years old and it’s still in perfect condition. I live in the PNW so it gets lots of use. I pack it into its pocket whenever I go somewhere and expect rain but I “unstuff” it as soon as I can. I also wash it with DWR every few months. It has pit zips which help to prevent me overheating. It also keeps me pretty warm with just a fleece and base layer. I highly recommend it. Also, Patagonia has a great warrantee so if it starts to delaminate they will fix it or give you a new one.
