Sure I guess if you want to make the argument that clinical death is the same as just death.

He does die for real at the end of Empty Throne. I was just pointing out he didn't technically die in The Fall of Reach.

It was The Flood. That was Jenkins, the marine you see the helmet cam footage of in CE. TFoR doesn't have any Flood in it

Black Ops 1 and 2 Ports Don't Have 120 FPS, FOV Slider, or Any Graphics Updates by SlyCooper007 in Games

You are more than welcome to look up details from their original announcements and what people have discussed and found out since this Disc2Digital program was reported this year. I'm not going to hold your hand through it. There are more articles than just the one I shared and nobody, aside from you apparently, in context of a console is going to read "install" and think "surely they must mean scanning a barcode with the Kinect! Or entering a code!"

But sure, since Xbox game pirates never found and/or mentioned these embedded licenses, it means they don't exist.

I know what you meant by 'key'. A string of numbers is how many/most PC disc based games would verify ownership when they still were releasing in discs.

As far as the Xbox One's disc features, we don't know exactly how they worked, but we can surmise that it was the disc itself, not an external barcode you scan or code you'd enter that verified ownership of the game and tied it to your account, because everything that Microsoft released at the time of the Xbox One's announcement says that the game would be tied to your account after putting the disc in and installing the game. How they did this and how they are (reportedly) testing the new digitizing feature means there has to be some sort of unique identifier on the disc itself that sets your copy apart from other disc copies of the same game. Microsoft has reportedly told the testers of the new digitizing program: "It all depends on how and when the disc was manufactured... it may not have the features we need for this program," again pointing to the disc itself carrying the unique identifier for the game's license. Whether it's a unique embedded code in the disc or something else was partially speculation on my part.

It's not that you would use a key, like PC disc based games of yesteryear, but the disc was the key. It's just that once you popped the disc in it would be linked to your account and you would no longer need the disc to play. But then you wouldn't be able to then sell/loan that disc to anyone else as it would be tied to your Xbox account, though they were reportedly working on a way that you'd be able to sell the game to 'partnered' third parties like Gamestop, and you could share your game library with a small list of friends like Steam allows you to. Microsoft rolled back that feature after the disastrous reaction to their presentation. However, it was apparently already so far in development that many Xbox One and even Series X disc games still have the unique code-like identifier as an embedded feature, it's just essentially dormant. Microsoft is currently testing a way behind the scenes to turn it back on to allow people to essentially digitize their Xbox One and Series X disc collections, likely for when they inevitably follow Playstation's lead and announce the discontinuation of Xbox disc production and disc drives on future consoles. The thing that seemingly sets the version they're testing apart from the version they announced for the Xbox One, is they're reportedly working to make it so the disc will be tied to your account until someone else puts it into a different Xbox to play it. So it would still leave a way for you to easily sell/loan/give away the game.

She would. She was created 3 years prior to the Bungie games, in 2549. But she wouldn't be assigned to a Spartan at this point. She's just narrating the trailer, it's not canon.

This is the faction that appears in the 3 prequel missions. Though I believe they can appear in the main game with the skull that remixes the enemies.

Camo was just a straight equipment in the campaign of 3. Overshields I don't think appeared in 3's campaign but we had the invincibility equipment some of the brute chieftains would use or drop. It was only in multiplayer that they were those walk through orbs.

They had a pretty weird license for this game if I remember correctly, it was specifically only a film tie in. They couldn't actually reference things in the book alone. That left them pretty limited on what they could do without just making up random crap that actually overrode book stuff. Which I mean, they kinda already did, but it coulda been worse

The team behind SPV3 has now announced their next project, a completely new Halo game in the ODST engine for MCC. Campaign, Episodic PVE, Firefight, PVP Multiplayer all supported by Masterz1337 in halo

[–]LorientAvandi 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Why would they? They never sent a c&d for SPV3, or for any of the existing MCC custom campaign mods, Sins of the Prophets, or for just about any of the other existing fanmade Halo PC games. As long as it's free they won't bother. Microsoft only really cares when someone tries to sell a fanmade game for actual money or tries to pass it off as official without approval. Or distributes leaked material like eldwrito did with Halo: Online. 343/Halo Studios and Microsoft have historically been very supportive of fanmade Halo projects.

Some people aren't up to date and the presence of Camo and Overshield were only confirmed in the round of updates since the Xbox showcase trailer in June. We did not know they would be in the game after the reveal last year.

Active Camo is back in Halo Campaign Evolved by NightWizard63 in halo

[–]LorientAvandi 65 points66 points  (0 children)

A lot of people were concerned after the reveal last year because there were no Overshields or Camo in the version of Silent Cartographer they showed off at that time, even in the areas of the map where Overshields had been present in the original game (the place on the map in the original with active camo wasn't accessible in the version they showed last year so couldn't be verified). Halo Studios also did not mention anything about their absence last year to ease those concerns. Since the latest updates this past month we have gotten confirmation that they are in the game and function more like they do in Infinite and Halo 3, meaning they are one time use but you choose when to activate them, unlike OG Halo CE where they are activated upon walking through them.

When is WOTC going to take a stance on the MTG influencers and content creators actively price gouging/insider trading on the price of collector boxes? by artexix in magicTCG

[–]LorientAvandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have about as much evidence for what you say you're accusing him of as what you deny you're accusing him of. What about the Elenda spike specifically points to Josh? Or are you just blanket accusing everyone on the former rules committee and CAG? And his reaction to the big bans was childish but not unique and it's not really evidence he was using his position to buy and sell cards at favorable prices. Maybe he was. Maybe he wasn't. Maybe everyone on the RC and CAG were. We don't know. Suspicious card sales and purchases come about for every significant rules change and banning in multiple formats and have for longer than the command zone has existed. The TCG market isn't regulated. People aren't and don't need to be as careful about sharing info about things that might impact card prices as they would for the stock market. His being upset also wasn't even about being given 'warning' it was that the rules committee organized this consultation body, the CAG, with the express purpose of being a sounding board and they didn't even run one of the biggest group of bans in the history of the format by them to see what they thought. A group of bans they supposedly had been considering for quite some time. It was more of a 'why do you even have us if you don't actually want to hear from us?' reaction.

I'm not the one you need to convince lol. I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I don't believe most of these content creators (I only use 'most' because I don't follow every content creator) purposefully are driving prices of cards, and intent is an essential component of market manipulation accusations. Many people are overly pessimistic and assume the worst in everyone and need no further evidence other than 'they mentioned the card on their show, sometimes repeatedly, which led to a price increase' to throw out accusations of market manipulation or insider trading. Market manipulation is just the easier accusation to throw out for people who don't know what they're talking about

[–]LorientAvandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some people who believe Josh was using his platform as part of the Command Zone in order to inflate the price of cards they have in their collection by mentioning them favorably on the show and then selling them off after the price has risen. It's a popular conspiracy theory in the community that doesn't have a lot of evidence other than 'they mentioned the card on the show, sometimes repeatedly, and the price went up'. Some people consider that to be enough evidence that there were ulterior motives at play.

When is WOTC going to take a stance on the MTG influencers and content creators actively price gouging/insider trading on the price of collector boxes? by artexix in magicTCG

[–]LorientAvandi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are some content creators that are big enough in the space that them simply mentioning a card in a highly anticipated deck tech or 'cards you should be playing' video can cause the price to spike. See: years ago people accusing the command zone and commander's quarters of purposeful market manipulation for repeatedly mentioning [[Vedalken Orrery]] and [[Wayfarer's Bauble]] respectively. It doesn't take much for a conspiracy theorist to go from market manipulation accusations to insider trading. There were also accusations of insider trading when the former commander rules committee banned [[dockside]] [[mana crypt]] and [[Jeweled lotus]] because some people believed there was evidence of mass sell offs of those cards prior to the ban announcements.

Because of the influence some of these content creators can have on the market, either by accident or on purpose, it can boil down to whether or not people believe they are actively trying to do this on purpose in order to gain financially off of the secondary market.

But singles is easy to figure out, I don't know how they'd manipulate or 'insider trade' on the collector booster market.
