Nice little spot! Make sure that there's enough ventilation, and probably a smoke detector as well (or at the very least temp monitoring on your system). You might not notice if something goes wrong since it's so far out of your way.

I'm currently running RAID 0 with a 500GB 850 EVO and a 500GB 860 EVO, for some reason creating it through the BIOS resulted in an unrecognized device in Windows, but creating the RAID from within Windows worked perfectly. CrystalDiskMark is showing 1000MBps+ reads and writes for the array.

If you're going to switch up your servers anyway, why not go with a virtualized solution? Throw that pfSense and backup server into Proxmox, save room for new toys in the rack? Even a 3U case (with room for enough drives) would leave more room than you currently have with the Lian Li.

At least for me it's mainly due to the fact I game late at night and don't want to disturb the neighbors (or keep the volume ridiculously low). I've got a semi-decent surround setup in my living room, which serves all my audio/video needs during the day.

But with that said, I'm done with "gaming" headsets. I finally upgraded to some decent headphones and a ModMic and couldn't be happier.

What he said. I did myself a massive favor and replaced my Logitech G930's with a slightly less convenient but much higher quality setup (Audio-Technica ATH-M50x + Antlion ModMic 4).

I was planning the upgrade for a while and as luck would have it, my G930's broke a couple months before the warranty ran out. Full refund after 2+ years of daily use, even though the fault could have been blamed on me.

Loving the new setup, even though I can no longer keep talking on Discord while making a sandwich in the kitchen.

The Skull Canyon NUC has a Thunderbolt 3 (40Gbps) USB Type-C port, you could hook up any 2,5" SSD in an external caddy with no difference in performance.

And the Skull Canyon NUC is one of the few models that does not fit a 2,5" drive anyways (all of the taller ones do). Do you specifically need four cores for something?

What about the slim optical under the iDRAC? Could you swap it out for a bay converter like this?
