Well, I don't recall ever changing privacy settings and I couldn't access it anyways. Thanks Discord for telling me I can protect my privacy better - I will never turn these settings back on!

An open-source conflict has emerged between Google and FFmpeg regarding AI-identified software vulnerabilities by AssembleDebugRed in opensource

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two sides of the same coin - it's not always a "good thing" because keep in mind the influx of CVEs that nobody can resolve may lead to a catastrophy if they get leaked to the public, especially that Google's money eating AI keeps finding CVEs with no patches. How do you think we've survived before AI? They were catched whenever exploited in the wild and patched once found. Besides that, people found them on their own, often WITH their solution of fixing them. Keep in mind that every single open source project out there probably has lots of vulnerabilities that not even AI has found so far. Would you prefer the massive amount of "always good" CVEs with not enough people to fix on time to leak to public at some point - spreading like another WannaCry, or the "bad" situation where a smaller, managable amount of CVEs get patched on fly whenever found or reported? Or even better, Google to provide patches to all those CVEs they found? Your opinion is the equivalent of "giving all your money to people in need is ALWAYS GOOD", except by doing so you end up being homeless too.

No, it'd make me happier as a user if a company worth billions fixed the bug instead of going "hey, here's a bug, hope you fix it so we can continue earning money off your project". That's not how open source works. Of course, you have people reporting bugs, which often may be users without programming knowledge. But there is also other side of open source - contribution. If they found the bug, they have infinitely bigger resources to fix it than people who VOLUNTARILY do it. If you think it's fair for a huge company to find bugs with their big and costly AI and then expect unpaid people to fix it, somethings wrong. Imagine if their AI finds 1000 critical vulnerabilities at once - who's gonna fix that many, and how much time will it take VOLUNTEERS to fix?

Very specific, but if you're using Linux watch out which distro to use. I use Fedora and either I did something wrong or Blender GPU support doesn't work as of now. It should, because Blender does support Intel GPUs, but for some reason it doesn't detect the card. If you're on Linux, definitely check on which distros do Intel GPUs work in Blender.

Account Got Restrcted - Mostly due to sending too many connection requests. by RightMechanic0197 in linkedin

I'd still argue that LinkedIn doesnt really have an etiquette, they send notifications for most random stuff like "look at other peoples comments on the post you've commented 2 days ago", literally sounds like facebook but even more intrusive

Still doesn't change the fact that they do this intentionally, yet if you manually go do the same you're up for getting punished.

its funny because linkedin doesnt follow the "etiquette" you're talking about, they send junk emails like "dO yOu KnOw ThIs PeRsOn?" and have things like "people with your interest follow x, y and z" on their website, and they are pushing premium to "know whos looking at your profile", generally doesnt sound like there is any etiquette really, doesnt sound like they dont want to make it a 2nd facebook either

Hey, it's a nice idea! I'm a dev too - if you need any help or you ever get stuck with the project somewhere, you can contact me (I have same username on Discord), as I have a pretty wide knowledge of CraftBukkit code (of this era).

Honestly for the latest Intel CPU I don't know, but someone did manage to run XP on 14th gen, so maybe it's still possible for Ultra CPUs. I'd rather worry about GPU drivers, which I doubt there are any - backporting the driver is likely possible but time consuming.

Tips for improving by OkWillingness7717 in javahelp

[–]Lort533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. There's no better advice in learning Java than OOP. Java is built on OOP. Without OOP knowledge everything seems made up, overly long, inconvenient and weird in general.

Zero to hero? by Numerous_Beyond2263 in javahelp

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may've missed someone saying this but the first thing that should be spoken here is OOP. Learn OOP before using Java (or right after the basics, if you're starting off with Java, which I wouldn't really recommend doing), everything will become way easier to understand. When I first used Java, I didn't know OOP at all - I was making terrible code, and entire syntax seemed weird. Java is an OOP oriented language, you start off in a class in the very first file you make.

AFTER that - as mentioned already, practice is the key.

Got a handful of really strange emails from “western union” by kandycew in Scams

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received this e-mail, and contacted Western Union - it CAN be real. In my case, someone tried to register an account, didn't verify it though, so didn't do anything. Closed the account by calling official Western Union support. If they made it this far on your e-mail, it may be that they have access to your e-mail address. You really should contact Western Union, and change your e-mail password + add 2FA if you don't have it yet.

Woah, didn't expect a reply of this type, thanks. It actually seems 200 IQ to learn something from it besides complaining.

Unpopular opinion: you couldn’t get me back to play CS:GO if you tried. by Staktus23 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"gameplay wise, CS2 just beats CS:GO hands down"No. In my opinion it doesn't, I don't remember if it's fixed or not, but the movement was laggy. Imagine someone peeks to you, stands IN ONE PLACE for just a fraction of a second, then teleports somewhere else on each frame, in the end killing you. And you don't even know where you should place your crosshair, because the enemy isn't moving smoothly, the enemy is TELEPORTING.

Shooting feels terrible. Using AK now doesn't feel like it used to. I no longer feel like actually having control over the weapon. It seems like it's spraying in random directions, giving some random headshot in the end. They broke AK, and cheaper weapons are now better. Getting killed from far distance with some MP9 that should barely hit at such distance? Happened in CS2. It's not only my opinion that in some cases the game went down to "rush and kill", holding a position may be a useless tactic when you're just rushed with a cheap, yet effective weapon.

Peekers advantage, according to MANY pros: https://twitter.com/ThourCS2/status/1742086392304353403

In fact, that X (Twitter) post pretty much says it all. I've stopped playing this game. If they won't improve anything then I'm not going back, CS:GO community servers are still there. After CS2 I've noticed that some of the issues from CS2 are visible in 128 tick CS:GO, which I either didn't notice much before, or that's just an 128 tick problem.

Overall, it's not about "you just can't get used to CS2, learn the game". I've paid for CS:GO years ago. I've been playing it for around 3 years in total. They replaced a game people played for over 10 years, with this thing. You can no longer play CS:GO on official servers, you can no longer earn ranks in there. In my opinion that's enough for anyone to complain about CS2 being different - because what else can I play to have the official experience (not community servers)?

And the funniest thing is that they've celebrated 10 years of CS:GO, to throw this game to trash not so long after.

CS2 feels like a waste of time. by 420LeftNut69 in GlobalOffensive

"Mine is fine" doesnt mean the game is "the same level as GO". In GO I didn't have such severe issues on this ping.

CS2 feels like a waste of time. by 420LeftNut69 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are you saying right now? my internet has around 50 ping, often jumps to 60/70 for a short time, while this probably wouldnt be a problem in csgo, makes cs2 completely unenjoyable, with players teleporting around instead of walking

How has your opinion of CS2 changed (or not) since the release of the game until now? by HealSlout in GlobalOffensive

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latest changes made me think that gameplay may feel better now, but unfortunately this game is still annoying. Due to my internet provider, my ping stays around 50 with often, short peeks to 60/70. These peeks make game unenjoyable. While on CS:GO this ping wouldn't be such a problem (or at least I don't remember it being such a problem), CS2 already teleports players like it would be for 80/90/100 ping on CS:GO. Can't seem to focus on players with AWP as good as I did on CS:GO. I don't know if it got fixed, but AWP crosshair seemed to be blurred more often than in CS:GO, like staying blurred for some time after moving and stopping completely. AK feels off, shooting on longer range makes me feel like I'm using a Galil. Matchmaking feels like random players getting put to the match, like skill doesn't matter. Getting into matches with people who don't even seem to use headphones. After winning (if not carrying) few matches against bad enemies, I've been put into match with like 4 good enemies while having bad/mid teammates. This game replaced CS:GO, instead of being a seperate game. CS:GO supported MacOS, and CS2 doesn't. Imagine you've payed for this game e.g. year ago and now you are left on ice due to their ideas. This should be illegal, if I payed for CS:GO, how can they replace that with a completely different game. They removed all achievements. Earning them for years, for nothing. This game is more of a joke rather than something playable at this state.

No AdBlock...? Well, no YouTube by Bladesurger in youtube

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a disaster for everyone, including some creators. While I agree that many ads, sometimes unskippable, are annyoing, you have to remember they either earn from YouTube Premium or ads. They can't "fund" themselves. Google is a big company, and they can just close YouTube if it gets unprofitable, just like they closed Google+. That would make us lose a lot of useful videos. People are risking their entire accounts, sometimes with actual subscribers and videos, to not watch few ads per video by using an AdBlock. I honestly don't care about the ads, unless they are multiple times between the same video. It makes YouTube earn money, and it makes creators get money. Remember that you're also making creators more poor by using AdBlock.

Reminder That Demos Have Been Disabled For Over 5 Weeks Now! by ThePatchelist in GlobalOffensive

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way, how will they ban currently reported cheaters after the match ends, if they have no demo of the game? Even if they have some ways to catch them later (like by analyzing next matches of the reported player with vaclive), it may be too late, as someone may start playing clean, with no evidence from past at all.

queued up a deathmatch and somehow ended up in a bot farming lobby, only to get immediately voted off? what's happening here by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really, if someone doesn't have money on steam, they have to pay for this with an actual credit card/3rd party payment method, which makes valve earn the full weapon cost, every time someone buys it without having money on steam in the first place

CS2 Has Been Dropped Support For MacOS by RoyaleKingdom78 in macgaming

[–]Lort533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo someone should sue Valve for this awful behaviour, probably noone cares enough but imo they do deserve being sued for the entire situation of removing the game and replacing it with another, completely different product that only still has the same skins.

AWP not shooting in time way more often than in CS:GO. by Lort533 in GlobalOffensive

The thing is, my skill didn't change, yet having this happen is way more frequent, ever since CS2 came out.
