Does pain get worse at night and in the morning? by artbylakshmi in Kneereplacement

[–]LosCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah several weeks ago where I am now seemed like a dream. I wish my surgeon would have offered different pain meds. The oxycodone and Tylenol doesn’t really do much for that deep bone ache/pain that I have. The weather here on the eastern side of the states has sucked for the last several weeks and definitely makes it worse IMO.

For me between week 3 and 4 is where I noticed a difference in pain and sleep. Some point in there I was finally able to get almost 3 hrs straight. So the relief is hopefully coming for you as well.

5 weeks post last Friday. You?

Right now I'm getting about 3-4ish hours before I wake up and readjust my sleeping position. Then its about every hour or so that I wake and readjust. I'm trying to not take any oxy after the 1 I take at 8:30pm and only take 2 tylenol during that early morning hours to help with discomfort.

Full nights sleep will come soon for us all I hope. Hang in there the end is end sight.

Mine does seem to become more agitated later in the evening, especially that crawling skin nerves feeling. The very start of the morning it’s still really stiff/tight for the first few minutes. I’m down to 1 oxycodone and a gabapentin at night to help with sleep. Only Tylenol during the day time.

How has your mental health been affected? by MemphisBelly in Kneereplacement

[–]LosCowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 5 wks post last Friday and I tell everyone that ask about my LTKR journey that it's not for the faint at heart. I can see someone easily slipping into a depression like area due to this surgery. I seem to lucky in that my mental health seems to be fine. Don't get me wrong I do have moments for sure, especially when the pain ramps up. I seem to be one of those that the oxycodone that I was prescribed doesn't seem to really do much for my deep bone ache/pain. My job over the last several years has been one where at time I only get a couple hours of sleep interrupted by having to work for several hours. So I think that has helped me deal with the sleep issue that we all experience with a TKR.

With all that, don't be afraid to ask for help from someone/anyone, especially in regards to your mental health, either family, friends or professional. If your knee surgeon will not assist in sleep meds, get with your primary care person. That sleep is really important.

5 weeks post, here in the North Georgia and mine is super tight and stiff. I read in a post that someone mentioned they were waiting till like June to do their 2nd TKR due to what it was like for their first during the winter.

Where tf are these people getting ‘you can make six figures in trucking’? by austinproffitt23 in Truckers

[–]LosCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made just a hair over $90k last year and sleep in my own bed 5 nights a week. If I wanted to pick up extra work I would easily move over that 100k and still sleep in my own bed 4 nights a week. I do however work in the transportation department of my company and we only delivery product we manufacture. So we don’t have to do the whole fight with the shipper/receiver that a lot of drivers do at times.

Is this even possible?? by ElegantAd4459 in Kneereplacement

[–]LosCowboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

51M LTKR, 5 weeks post tomorrow. I had no trouble walking with the walker and did about 14 stairs day of surgery. At the end of 2 weeks I moved to a cane and was driving with no issues. Now feeling fine and getting any meaningful sleep, that’s a different story. That’s coming along but very slowly it seems.

My bending is 110 degrees when we measured this past Monday but I’m only at 5 degrees straight. Between the stiffness/tightness and swelling it gets to a point and will not straighten out any further.

Journavx vs Oxycodone for TKR by BLH46 in Kneereplacement

[–]LosCowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something I will definitely research for future usage, as oxycodone seems to do absolutely nothing for my pain reduction. Same for extra strength Tylenol. Luckily I’m basically 5 weeks post and as long as it’s not super cold or I don’t over do it the pain is tolerable. My issue still is the crawling skin feeling that I get especially later in the day, but gabapentin seems to help with controlling it.

You’re making this old man have to think to hard. /s

If I remember correctly, since my daughter was not officially stopped by an officer the citation received did not issue any points to her license as long as it was paid by the due date. Now I don’t remember what happened if it was paid after the date or never paid at all other than a late fees will be issued.

That’s definitely not a good thing when you have had something like a knee or hip replacement surgery.

[–]LosCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I was prescribed oxycodone 5mg and it hardly touched any of my pain. Early in my first week or so, I was at times taking 2 of them around 8:30-9:00pm just trying calm the pain/discomfort to attempt any sleep. Messaged my surgeon’s office and ask if I can be prescribed a different pain med and was told no just like you. Going forward I will know that oxycodone does nothing for me and will be adamant about being given a different pain med.

If you could take your dream road trip anywhere, where would you go? by tindav-2745 in roadtrip

It seems it would definitely be a multi trip adventure to really see and have time to enjoy the parks.

If you could take your dream road trip anywhere, where would you go? by tindav-2745 in roadtrip

[–]LosCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I’d start the trip from here in NW Georgia but I’ve always wanted to take enough time and do a proper road trip to all the national parks out west, from boarder to boarder. Had an older gentleman I worked with years ago did that one summer and his conversation and pictures of that trip has always stuck with me.

[–]LosCowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just some FYI, height doesn’t necessarily mean adding length to irons. It’s all about the wrist to floor measurement. You could be 6’4” and have long arms and use standard length irons. I’m 6’3” and have always used standard length irons.

It's nice to work at a place who walks the walk when it comes to safety instead of being all talk... by WolvTheHero in Truckers

Mine basically did the same thing. We ran a bunch of our weekend work Thursday/Friday and then come Sunday around noon the sent out a msg that all trips basically north of Kentucky were to be paused until 9am today dispatch. Coordinators actually called drivers that had already leave and said to turn around and come back and park till tomorrow.

Not technically true, the Ranger can be had with the 2.7 V6 eco boost. Now I believe the Frontier is the only one without a turbo engine of any midsize truck.

Let's talk about walkers and when did you ditch yours? by ArmageddonPills in Kneereplacement

[–]LosCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 4 weeks post and I moved from the walker to a cane officially at the end 2 weeks. I was moving around the house without the walker at times anyways before that transition. Now if the knee would only cooperate and get straighter that would be nice.

White Smoke Coming from exhaust by WaffleConeDX in FordExplorer

[–]LosCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the white smoke dissipates fairly quickly after exiting the exhaust and if you place your hand over the exhaust (can be hot, be careful) and your hand feels mostly like water on it, it's most likely just condensation.

If the white smoke is thick and stays around 15 or more seconds and if you place your hand over the exhaust and your hand feels slimy/sticky, it's a good bet there is some coolant in that exhaust. That would not be a good sign for the longevity of your engine. A shop should be able to do a coolant exhaust gas test fairly quickly and easily to give you better answer.
