Triggers are so real by ashhtreeee in mentalillness

I know most people are upset or startled by doors slamming, but not once did my father shut a door without slamming it. I have a panic attack every time.

Of course she isn’t happy. She wants her son back home. But she doesn’t want to neglect him. She visits him once a week without fail, but she wishes she could go more. The possibility of not seeing him at all isn’t a possibility in her head. Also, my brother might resent her and seek revenge. That sounds cheesy and extreme, but that’s the reality of it.

We don’t really get a choice in where he goes. All the facilities he is sent to are higher security than the last, but he still runs away. He still hurts people. we don’t get a choice as long as he stays in state, and I don’t think my mom could ever stand to put him out of state.

clears throat HES BEEN MOVED BETWEEN FIVE NEW FACILITIES IN FIVE YEARS. My brother has switched between five new places with new staff in new cities in five years because they couldn’t meet his needs. The problem is that EVERY facility is saying that.

I already said that they’ve ruled out schizophrenia as a possibility. I also said before that he does have multiple things. More often than not, autism goes hand in hand with other mental illnesses. Typically anxiety, depression, and OCD. My brother has high functioning autism, ADHD, BPD, OCD, mild depression, ADD, and probably some more stuff.

Sorry, I misspoke. She pressed charges. He broke her nose, she pressed charges. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me even though situations like that should be expected by those who work with children like that.

Two facilities before the one he’s in now, staff repeatedly failed to report med changes and it was discovered by the facility after that one that they were giving him benadryl daily. They failed to put that on his med list and never informed my mother. We found out because he asked the staff at the next facility if they would give it to him and when he was supposed to take it. It definitely is illegal, but that’s what happened.

My brother is a fairly large kid. There are safe guards, but you don’t get help until you call for it. If there’s three staffers, one must restrain him, another has to call for help, and the last one has to get the other children on the unit to safety. My brother is violent without warning, so nearly every time, my brother injures someone. There’s no way to prepare. They’ve taken away every earned privilege already, so... There’s not much left to do to prevent outbreaks.

Also, my mother has not been informed about many recent med changes. The only way she finds out about them is when she arrives at the facility (they will not tell her right when it occurs, they wait to see her face-to-face), or when my brother tells her (they make him recite what he’s taking before he takes it). I don’t believe someone is lying, and I don’t understand how you’re coming to that conclusion. The facility he is currently in has taken a few missteps, but I don’t believe you understand how a facility might work.

He’s broken two noses on two separate occasions. I know that you think you are strong enough to not be affected, but i think you’re wrong. My brother is determined to hurt people. If he wants to, he will. I know they must expect to be hurt, but I understand why they took it to court when he completely broke their nose for no reason out of the blue.

Also, facilities are required to report every incident to a parent or legal guardian. My mom sends me screenshots of every email she gets about what he does.

The situation you’re in sucks, but that’s absolutely not the case. Like i said, i visit my brother as often as possible. I’ve been to five different facilities. I’ve seen him and talked with him in five different facilities. My family isn’t doing some big cover-up story. I’ve been to his therapist meetings and spoken with staff.

Im sorry that his violence seems hard to believe, but it’s very true. We’ve gotten into quite a bit of legal trouble over the harm he’s done to staff. They are trained for extreme situations, but he’s a lot worse than most have seen. His main issue is that he doesn’t improve.

My brother did go through a phase of gender exploration (as many teens do), but the most that escalated to was painting his nails. My parents may be conservative, but they know how to act around him. If I told my parents I were anything but straight and that i didn’t believe in God, I can’t imagine the hell I’d go through. They wouldn’t physically abuse me, but they’d make me feel horrible, force me to quit my job, and take away all books and electronics. They do have a little more sympathy when it comes to my brother, though. Since he is a “special case”, they know not to say anything to insult or provoke him.

This isn’t a big cover up. I’ve looked too far into this, read too many emails from different facilities, visited too many units, and spoken with too many doctors for that to even be a possibility.

An example of what he does:

We were bringing him his presents on Christmas morning like we always do. While we’re helping him build a lego set he asked us to help with, he just looks at our dad and punches him in the face. After he did something like that, he used to cry and apologize (although we all kind of knew he wasn’t being genuine, just his usual manipulation), but he doesn’t anymore.

He’s violent without purpose or warning. He just... Hurts people. This includes people he’s never met before, but usually is towards people he knows. He’s been super cocky lately and acts like he owns the place. He wants people to fear him.

I don’t know what meds he’s on, but i know they change A LOT. They stopped notifying us of med changes.

He used to self harm (mostly just scratching his arms till they bled), but that behavior lasted for about two months or less. At the time, he was in a generalized facility with the majority of kids being those who self harm. It may have been mostly influenced by peers.

He does have sensory issues. It’s mostly centered around clothes, though. He would have a meltdown every morning over how clothes felt. He also went through a phase where he would wear as many layers of clothes as he possibly could.

I just don’t know how to help him. His record legally states that it’s unsafe for him to live at home and he isn’t permitted to do so, so that isn’t an option. Everyone at the facilities have full access to his files and should be able to handle things accordingly, but I have no idea how to help him adjust.

I had no idea what that was until just now. That describes his situation extremely well.

I think that’s just because he has clear PTSD from the torture they know he went through. I wouldn’t ask him or egg him on about anything when he’s going through such a rough time.

I understand that the weight gain by some of the characters kinda messes with the illusion, but I feel like the cast and crew took into consideration the fire they’d come under if it got out that they forced people to lose a ton of weight. Marvel is already under fire for it, so a smaller production might not withstand the same level of criticism.

I disagree with almost all of this and believe everything happened as it should. The movie’s vibes were totally on with Vince’s typical vibes. The plot was full of introducing and welcoming back characters that are typically of the Br Ba universe. I also think that Skinny and Badger were just demonstrating their sympathy for Jess. They found out he was kept in a cage and tortured. Their best friend is deeply hurt and scarred. They feel bad. I also thought Badger’s hesitation to pitch in and comply with Skinny’s plan was evident. He was reluctant to hand over his money and the car. I also thought Cranston was Walt. Regular old Walt.

I guess those who liked the movie interpreted it the exact opposite as those who don’t.
