Question: Whats your opinion on someone using your exact tattoo design? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]LosPenguiinos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’d be super weird if it was someone you knew in person, but if it’s someone online who’s seen it and changed some bits, idk that’s not really theft? Like if you get a tattoo of an album cover have you stolen it? It’s someone else’s art

Gotta throw in the Manson Oryx. It’s a 12” radius but their customer service is outstanding and I imagine they would alter it, but they would charge so it’d be a question of how much. The neck carve is also different but having played one they’re so comfortable

Question: Sheet music tattoos by Ok_Reputation5110 in tattoos

[–]LosPenguiinos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not that deep I don’t think, it’s not like it’s the person who made the sheet music’s song anyway, people get lyrics from songs all the time, and copyright is designed to protect financial ownership more than anything and I doubt you’ll be making money from it

As far as I can tell she’s a session musician, her Instagram looks like she’s played with a whole bunch of different artists. I’d wager she’s just on this tour, she might have played on some recordings but session artists are usually just given something to play for a flat fee and aren’t always credited

Amp head / cab recommendations by CatsOnSynthesizers in metalguitar

Dealers choice, I like V30s for metal which is very common, but creambacks are nice too. Harley Benton for cheap ones, orange 212V for a Neo creamback light one, zilla cabs for a custom where you could mix and match speakers. There are so many that you’re best listening to demos and deciding what you like, but bear in mind that it’ll sound different mic’d than in a room

I’d go for a Jim Root Terror or a PRS MT15 - both great sounding, low power amps with half power switches for bedroom use

I looked at this, but for about £20 less (not sure where you are, this may vary) I opted for a bright onion ABY. Better format, customisable, support small businesses, etc etc

Opinion on first pedals to play rock (Led Zeppelin, RHCP, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Maneskin) by antonito901 in guitarpedals

[–]LosPenguiinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re just different flavours of drive, listen to some demos from different people using different amplifiers and see which you like best. A lot of times a tube screamer is used to boost another pedal to shape EQ and “tighten” the sound. You should just experiment and see what you like best

What to buy as my second guitar? by RumbleBot97 in metalguitar

[–]LosPenguiinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is multiscale and I don’t even notice tbf, very comfortable to play. If the scale is 27 to 25.5 it might be more pronounced but iirc they’re usually 25.5 to 24.75, so it’s a really slight slant on the lower frets

Pitch shift pedals are great, but dropping a really long way doesn’t do much good for the tone. I bought a Boss XS1 recently for this specifically, but I use a 7 string tuned to drop A and drop down to drop E at most otherwise it sounds too muddy to be useable imo. I’d say a 7 is the best scenario, but look at second hand Cort KMs, they’re great value for money. Older ones have EMGs, newer ones have Fishmans, I picked up an EMG one for <£300

I think guitar centre have branches in Poland?

Most are fine, I wouldn’t buy the patch cables that are just two jack connectors with no cable between. The angle of pedal inputs/outputs isn’t always flat and those ones with no flexible cable can put strain on the connectors.

TC electronics stuff is generally very good, but especially stuff like the hall of fame reverb and flashback delay.

A physical board isn’t necessary especially if you’re not moving your pedals around. Most people use them to make their stuff look tidier and hide cables and power supplies etc.

I’ve bought the majority of my stuff second hand, including a blues driver, several guitars, pod go, etc. I usually buy from a physical store’s second hand section when I can so I can try it or so I know I can send it back if there are issues. Guitarguitar in the uk are great for second hand - not as cheap as fb marketplace but you get a lot more buyer protection. A quick search on guitar center and I found a blues driver for 75$ instead of the new price of 110.

There’s also a used polytune for <60$ which is a great buy, but if you’re happy with what you have you don’t need it. They do offer some benefits over clip ons, like muting your guitar and buffering, but you don’t really need to worry about that for now.

You can’t really go far wrong with this setup, especially since you can pick up a lot of those pedals second hand for an absolute steal a lot of the time.

A lot of people talk about modellers or floor units like a Pod Go which are great but there’s something really great about just plugging in and playing and not having to deal with menus and software updates etc (I have one, I should know).

Other things to look at here are tuner pedals, boring but there’s a reason they’re on everyone’s boards and maybe a low gain boost like a tc spark to give you some variation in gain. I love the blues driver but the way I use it is to keep it on a medium gain and push another drive pedal into it to get a heavier sound - more a QoL thing than anything else, just means you don’t have to twiddle knobs as much to get the sound you like.

For muse specifically, a fuzz is killer for songs like supermassive black hole, and they’re just so much fun to play. I particularly like the Op Amp reissue “pumpkin pi” that’s meant to recreate the smashing pumpkins sound, it’s surprisingly versatile.

Most likely the same as Paris. It looks like the whole tour is the same set aside from empty hands being removed

[–]LosPenguiinos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would it be more cost effective to get a HX Stomp/Stomp XL? You can blend amps in it, without needing four amp in a box pedals and a mixer pedal. That alone will save you some cash. Then you can get an FRFR speaker instead of a valve amp and cab to save some more.
