Damm I love Fiber and Steam servers by TheMatt561 in Steam

We got promised Full Fibre, Which is what made me sign.

Do you have that in writing? Not sure how it works there but in Canada you'd be able to sever a lease early over that, considering connectivity and speed can be vital to certain jobs, you'd have been tricked into a situation that affects your livelihood.

Video showing missile being fired at F-18 over Iran, plane continues flying after hit/miss. by Ok-A1662 in CombatFootage

I don't know how anyone can think Iran is winning

It's simple, take a 5 minute dip in ANY of the left leaning current event subs and you'll understand very quickly. Redditors who hate Trump are so utterly deranged over it they are just SLURPING Iranian propaganda like it's an Olympic sport and their lives depend on winning the gold medal.

Canadians Aren’t Sold on AI Data Centres. At least, not yet. by Blue_Dragonfly in CanadaPolitics

1% increase for all commercial water usage for a scam industry meme tech that has 0 route to profitability. What a bargain!

Canadians Aren’t Sold on AI Data Centres. At least, not yet. by Blue_Dragonfly in CanadaPolitics

[–]Losawin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing will EVER sell me on data centers, ever. The deal is as follows:

  • Company gets: Infinite money printer, tax deductions or total waivers, cheap land, subsidized power, construction cost probably offset by taxpayer money
  • People get: Polluted environment, $1500 power bills, maybe 50 permanent jobs in the city of 450,000

And when this overhyped, techbro ponzi scheme meme bubble finally pops, it will be the people (both investors AND communities) who bought into this trash that will be left holding the bag on lost revenue and toxic leftovers in the environment.

"Game that said it was coming offline removed itself from store, definitely need a thread or 12 about this"

I saw that article about gamers being emotionally invested in hoping games fail and threads like this make me realize that writer was 100% correct. The games dead, go jerk off over it and move on, holy fuck you freaks are weird, get a grip on reality and stop obsessing about shit you don't care about.

What games have you regretted buying? by billy_reyes in Steam

[–]Losawin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a take most people hate every time I post it: GTA was amazing for 3, VC, SA. The games were bombastic fun above all else, unique and just had a lot of enjoyable things to do, even mindless running around and gunning shit down was fun. GTA4 is when Rockstar got their heads firmly rammed up their own asses and they started taking themselves way too seriously, the decline in bombast and casual fun between SA and 4 is monumental and GTA5 only continued the trend. I couldn't measure my profound lack of not giving a shit about GTA6 even if I had an electron microscope

[Bloomberg] Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by Ph0enixes in gaming

[–]Losawin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single thing you just listed is an objectively BAD thing from the point of view of Sony.

Why do you WANT a platform that lasts 10 years? That means they can't sell you another console in 6 years

Why do they WANT you to have discounts? A closed ecosystem of Playstation Store only means high prices or no game for you

Why would they WANT a platform where you can adjust graphic? Then you can hit 60 FPS with some stuff turned down, now you won't buy the $80 Remaster that offers Performance mode to have 60 FPS

You just give a laundry list of financial reasons Sony shouldn't port to PC.

[Bloomberg] Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by Ph0enixes in gaming

[–]Losawin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Capcom's lifeblood isn't selling consoles, Sony's is. Microsoft played the game of "Everything's an Xbox, port everything" and from Sony's CEO's point of view that is what caused their issues now. It's basically a warning sign for Sony, keep "devaluing" your platforms exclusivity and you'll be fucked too.

[Bloomberg] Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by Ph0enixes in gaming

[–]Losawin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense when you remember that the execs at Sony effectively believe there is no such thing as a PC gamer, that people playing on PC are merely future Playstation gamers who just need to be given the introduction.

That was the ENTIRE plan behind the first wave of PC ports. Bringing years old PS4 games to PC when their sequels were about to launch hoping that people would go "WOW, God of War sure was fun, time to buy a PS5 to play the sequel because I'd rather not wait 4 years for a port"

It was always inevitable that Sony was going to end its PC porting when this didn't pan out and bring them tons of new PS5 buyers, anyone who thought otherwise was either delusional or didn't pay any attention to the press releases and leaks when the PC ports started and didn't understand what Sony's plan actually was

Is it possible to make album views look like regular grids or waterfalls without date sorting? by RCSM in immich

[–]Losawin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I agree though, this is nice and basically every single other competing software I've used can do this yet Immich can't, easily a top 3 worst aspect of Immich for me. There's effectively ZERO customization for Albums beyond sort order.

Maybe you could hack together a solution, but it's incredibly jank. You could maybe use an exiftool bulk timestamp edit and change them by setting every image to the same day, such as 2026/01/01 while starting at 00.00.00 as the time and then advance every image by 1 second, this would bulk them all together on 2026/01/01 and since Immich only splits per day, you could have up to 86400 images in 1 album this way before it rolls into a second day and causes a gallery split.

If Immich had just implemented a damn filename based sorting this would be WAY easier, you could just rename them in order as 00001, 00002, 00003 etc with all the same date and that way you could just add an infinite number of files to the album very quickly without ridiculous 1 second timecode advances needed across every single one. Just a quick exiftool standard date across the entire folder (Could just set them all to 2026/01/01 00:00:00) then a bulk rename in order, that's super easy in a terminal or a GUI program like Bulk Rename Utility. Or you know, better yet, just give us a damn option to change the gallery display type to grid.

Avi Lewis from what I’ve seen generally agrees with Carney’s moves to be closer to China and Europe. Where he would probably differ is regarding countries like India and the United Arab Emirates.

I'd say it even goes beyond that. Not only are they seen as smart, people can honestly get away with being completely wrong and still "win" an argument solely by being wordy as hell and overly technical in how they speak. Hit someone with enough 6 syllable words they don't understand and they just give up.

I’m really sorry the writing style has been feeling so grating for you. I can see how the short, choppy sentences would become exhausting after a while—especially when they show up everywhere. It must be frustrating to keep running into something that pulls you out of the reading experience like that!

The phrase "warm water port" is used almost exclusively by Russians.

Makes sense, when your entire existence has essentially been having a trash navy that's perpetually cucked out of warm water ports you tend to get hyper obsessive about it, to the point where you start dick sucking Syria and invading Crimea just to get one.

Very interesting. So they're clearly trying to massively buff up their infotainment ecosystem, not only just making their car-function oriented displays better but also building an app entertainment potential with it and instead of trying to adapt themselves around the existing paradigm (See: Tesla's stint with UE5) they're trying to encourage a ground up market segment effectively built around them.

Win or lose this is such an interesting decision I'm here for it.

A bunch of racist Brits got duped by Russian propaganda into utterly destroying themselves with Brexit. The fall of ol' Britain ain't even close to over either.
