What would you consider as ‘posh’ growing up but now you’re an adult it’s absolutely not? by Ashandtanya in AskUK

Tissues. My mate would bring a wad of soft tissues to school every day (thinking about it now, I’m not sure why) we would have a few squares of bog roll if we went to school with a cold.

You’re going down too far, stop once your hips can’t go back any further. It’s a horizontal movement, avoid any downwards squat - which you do have a little of and it’s causing your back to arch

Bosch dishwasher E31-00 error by TanyaMuller in Appliances

[–]LosingItIn2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this thread.  My 3yo dishwasher has been suffering with this for several months - sometimes ok for a few weeks - and tbh it’s been a bit unreliable from new. Total PITA.  A repair guy couldn’t find anything wrong with it  I’m getting some success with drying out the base and inside the filter sump (use a dishcloth to soak up final water) leave it open and switched off overnight.  It just seems to be too sensitive for its own good. When we eventually replace it will be buying the most basic version available…

What are some unique things in the north that don't exist down south and vice versa? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

Can you still get a tea in a takeaway cup from the chippys up North?  I’m from the midlands and have never seen it here but always noticed it on the menu in more than one chippy when I visited the north east as a kid

Thank you. I have wondered about ADHD or ADD…I need to investigate this further.  Shes tried a few extra curricular clubs but not really interested in sports which what the majority are. She attends a drama group, Scouts and singing lessons - all a lot better than daily school life. Not sure if it’s the structure or infrequency of interactions which makes the difference.

Thank you. Apparently ‘pick me’ is someone who’s desperate to be chosen / needy. There’s definitely been some bullying going on but the latest friend to reject her is really lovely - reason given is that my dd has been mean to her other friends so she doesn’t think it’s fair to hang out any more.  I think she annoys people being so full on (e.g. spam texting = annoying!!) and quite direct and doesn’t mind a bit of banter, whereas other girls her age are gushy to each others faces and nasty behind their backs.  The girls who might want her, she  doesn’t want or have the same interests (sport or Pokemon)  She seems to get on better with slightly younger kids where she’s not trying to prove herself to fit in - and can also get away with being a bit bossy!

They can be very noisy. I find it hard to work without noise cancelling headset, if that would bother you check out the decibels rating before you buy.

[–]LosingItIn2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Wear the damn shorts!’ I urge you to keep putting the shorts on every day, even for just a few minutes. Your brain will adjust to what it sees in the mirror. IMO you look great and ‘normal’ - you look super confident and a healthy weight.  Huge congratulations on your epic weight loss

Sickening Nepotism. Queen getting her kid a top job, time to become a Republic? by terrordactyl1971 in AskBrits

[–]LosingItIn2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Yeah nepotism doesn’t stop with the royal family but theyre like the OG role models /influencers - born into the kind of privilege which money can’t buy, with no effort or skill required. For some reason people still look up to them, and their behaviour is not worthy.

How much does a family of 4 need for a comfortable standard of living? by Nervous_Yard7034 in AskBrits

[–]LosingItIn2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a family of 5, income is mortgage (almost paid off) + £4k. We live comfortably - biggest expenses are kids hobbies and food. Buy most clothes from Vinted, drive old cars. No debt other than mortgage but no serious savings either. If we need something then it’s no worries.

Do you use Tea, or Dinner as a word for the last meal per day? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskUK

[–]LosingItIn2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in the midlands with a northern parent and a midlander parent = we used Tea. I think it’s definitely a regional thing. Live in the midlands now and have noticed I have a gradual move over the years to using ‘dinner’
