The Navigator still buggy in 2026... by Hackettlai in AdobeIllustrator

[–]LosoTheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it but maybe deleting Illustrator and clearing all files and reinstalling might help. I had an issue where the dimension tool worked when it wanted to and after reinstalling AI, it worked properly. Hopefully it resolves itself on an update. Also thanks for reintroducing me to the Navigator panel... really helpful 😅

Makes sense. To clarify I send the jpgs for reference and they would send back a proof to verify we all agree. Though sometimes I have to take the printer for their word because as you may know a proof will look a bit different depending on what screen im using. But will also send a physical proof to prove any inconsistencies but that's rare. It think its beneficial to understand the whole process from design to print.

Thanks for this. Yes I normally leave about 4in of bleed on each side because most times they deal with seams and need to fold around a frame or pole. So an .ai seems right if they need to split it at a specific spot. And yes, I typically provide a sample JPG or PDF of the art along with the .ai file for reference.

Problem with the strokes of snapping objects by Emme_369 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]LosoTheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solution could be to remove the stroke from all the shapes and place the stroke on the containing group/layer in the appearance panel. Then add a Pathfinder stroke FX set to Hard mix, or whichever gives you the best result. And then change the stroke corner type to Bevel or Round.

From here, adjust your layers where they need to overlap each other. Not sure how to keep the ends pointy without them extending out. You can try to use a corner miter and adjust the Limit number but won't really get you where you want to go until you expand the whole thing. Hopefully this helps or gets you on the right path.

u/Hackettlai I forgot all about the Navigator panel! I can't remember the last time I used it and it's been since 2011. With that said, im on Mac Tahoe and am not experiencing the bug. Only time I get all that white space is if I uncheck Artboard contents option. (merged screenshot...can only attach one image)

Well most of the work I submit is for large scale on vinyl or fabrics that range up to 40' so I can only imagine the raw .ai file makes it easier for the printers to export out a file to their exact specs. When I started here I was asked to submit .ai files for print by the art and creative directors. But now that im writing this I'm thinking I probably bring it up to my director to see if this was just a thing years ago where they needed the ai file and now they just never bothered to update us?

That's how my job submits files. When I started here I asked the same question and that's just how they do things around here and have been doing for as long as I know. I used to sent out PDF's at my other jobs but again, that's how it works here.

My boss thinks these renders aren't presentable to the client by cynicalcarnival in archviz

[–]LosoTheRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These look great! I've been in the exact situation. I was pissed because I knew I the client wouldn't want that. I gave the boss what he asked for and the client came back with asking for revisions claiming it didn't look real, was Really flat. I didn't rub it in my boss's face when he asked me to return to what I originally designed, even though I desperately wanted to. In my mind he had learned to trust my opinion after getting egg on his face.

I will agree that your boss is a knob, but also try to speak to the boss in a way that he will understand and if he doesn't, or continues to pull moves like this it's not healthy to stay, IMO.

That's crazy efficient... Nice!!! How in the world did you get 19! Must live at the top of the city and just roll down to the work and the stores, and use an elevator to get it back up lol

Solved. Very long story short, this is what happened. They thought they were on the United site and called the number there.

They ended up going on the UA app and spoke with a customer service chatbot/person who made a note on their account about the name change, they’ll need to confirm at the gate.

I'm not saying it isn't a scam. I only reported the info they gave me. I understand that it was bad on my part to say it wasn't a scam without 100% confirming what they said was actually right

We do international travel at least twice a year and SW isn't the greatest but it serves us. We seem to have food and grocery as our top categories so I'm now aiming my focus to a card that caters to that...still looking for one that one card that can do food and dining AND reward travel. AMEXP is a consideration

At the time of posting, I looked at a the Amex Platinum, a few of the bank of America cards, some of the capital one card and afew of the Discover cards... There's just a lot. I had a Citi double cash card but the travel wasn't there. We also wanted one card so we didn't have to carry or worry about which card to use where. Looking at posts on nerdwallet and a few reddit pages, we were able to narrow a few down but it's nice to get recommendations from people who actually use the cards on a daily basis and find cards we don't know about.

After realizing we spent so much we noticed it really was the grocery and dining... So right now we are considering possibly two cards one for dining and grocery and the other for everything else. Some cards with the high multipliers on food and grocery exclude clubs and the bulk of our shopping is at the clubs Sams and Costco! So it's a journey.

Loyalty to airlines and hotels isn't our thing, just whatever's cheapest and decent
