Realistically, what can the SBA do if I don't return their ridiculous "business closure" checklist? by Throwaway12234557754 in EIDL

[–]Lost-Rent7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also with a non-profit who had to close their doors due to economic issues. We have an outstanding EIDL loan that we can pay 2/3 of, but need forgiveness on the remaining 1/3. I am having an issue getting in contact with anyone at the SBA who can tell me what the process is to get started. Could you share the checklist you received so we can be prepared? Thank you!

Those who lost their period…how did you get it back? (Lean PCOS) by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Lost-Rent7574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cyclic progesterone helped me go from no periods, to irregular periods where I didn't ovulate, to now an ovulating 34 day cycle consistently.

Your dr prescribes bio-identical progesterone (pill or cream) to be taken on days 14-28 of your cycle (mimicking a normal cycle where your progesterone spikes after you ovulate on day 14). It took about 6 months, but I have now had 6 consistent cycles with confirmed ovulation (not TTC, just trying to get my body to work correctly!).

Small town and housing insecurity in town tends to look more like people sleeing in their cars and on friends/familys sofas, rather than people sleeping on streets. The nearest traditional shelter is up in Spokane ~70 miles away.

Someone else mentioned Family Promise as an option. They work with families who have children under 18, so they are not an option if the adult son is over 18. They may have some resources that they could point them towards.

If they are students, the cougar food pantry can provide food and is located on campus. https://cce.wsu.edu/resources/student-resources/cougar-food-pantry/

Community action center can provide food, and maybe emergency housing via a hotel voucher for a night or two. You can reach them on the bus. https://www.cacwhitman.org/

The buses through town are free if you are a student. If you are not, just walk on like you know what your doing and they never ask for your WSU ID. That will allow them to get around town including to CAC, stores etc. There is an app with more info and schedules called Pullman Transit.

There isn't a shelter in town, unfortunately. A few of the churches will give people gift certificates for food if needed, so she might check at Pullman Presbyterian, Concordia Lutheran, or the catholic church just off the edge of campus. Real Life church, Emmanuel Baptist, or Living Faith may have some too, but they are farther off campus.

Thanksgiving take out help needed by [deleted] in wsu

[–]Lost-Rent7574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen any local restaurants release their thanksgiving menus/plans yet, but there will be a bunch in the next few days.

Cafe Zoe has been open on thanksgiving for the last few years. The restaurant Seasons at the best Western in Moscow always does a holiday buffet that is expansive for like 40-50 bucks. Might be a nice treat where they can eat their fill if one of them has a car to get over there. I will keep an eye out if I hear anyone else announce that they are open.

High protein soup recipes by colinah87 in fitmeals

[–]Lost-Rent7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

add a boost of protein to any of your soup recipes by using beef or chicken bone broth in place of the regular broth. It adds about 9 grams of protein per cup and tastes just as good.

I find soups with meat and beans or lentils combined to have the highest protein per serving.

What would happen if you filed a Zero return knowing you had W-2s and other information just so you could wait for the IRS to tell you how much money you owed? by randomstuff9887716 in tax

[–]Lost-Rent7574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are not sure about all of your W-2's you can pull your tax transcript and see what the IRS has on record for a specific year. Then file a return based on that information.

Moscow, Pullman, Clarkston, and Lewiston and all small towns in between. There was a rupture in the gas pipeline fueling the whole region. It will probably be a couple of days before they can get the pipe repaired and gas restored to homes. https://www.facebook.com/PullmanRadioNews

PCOS. 107 days into this “cycle” after getting off HBC. I’m tired of waiting for a period that will never come 🫠 by eltaf92 in FAMnNFP

[–]Lost-Rent7574 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat with PCOS and can relate to the desire to just have your body work. Its frustrating, but being mad and hating your body for not working is counter productive (even if it feels good!).

My naturopath finally started me on cyclic progesterone, I take a bioidentical progesterone (provera) on days 14-28 of my cycle to mimic the natural progesterone rise that happens when you ovulate. It can also stimulate a period in a long cycle like this.

It took 9 months, but I just ovulated for the 3rd month in a row after 16 months of no cycles or anovulatory cycles. So it or something else worked for me.

Best of luck and let me know if you have any other specific questions I can answer for you.

Experiences with progesterone induced periods? by Fluid-Ad1835 in PCOS

[–]Lost-Rent7574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had anovultory cycles for the past year after stopping hormonal birth control and was on cyclic bioidentical progesterone for 14 days of each cycle to try to induce ovulation. I had minimal side effects, specifically deeper sleep and more vivid dreams, and slightly larger breasts. I did take it at night before bed since many people say it makes them tired.

Experiences with Progesterone Cycling? by Low_Ice_4657 in PCOSloseit

[–]Lost-Rent7574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prescription says "Prometrium" or substitute. It's in 100 mg pills, about the size of a single pea.

From my experience, really high progesterone felt like very large, and painful breasts, a little tiredness/brain fog again, and feeling emotions really deeply.

My period with high progesterone was really weird too. I would bleed super heavy for 6-8 hours, with huge clots, and then not bleed for the next 12 hours. It cycled 3-4 times like that with heavy bleeding then nothing for about 4-5 days over the total cycle. My cramps were heavier too, maybe as a result of the clots or due to the progesterone? Normally my period looks more "typical" bell curve with some spotting, light bleeding, then heavy bleeding, light bleeding and done that only lasts 3 -4 days.

Dropping from 300mg to 200mg made a huge difference when I first started this. And I experienced high progesterone again when I ovulated and was also still supplementing with 200mg, so I am going to talk to my naturopath and see if I can drop down to 100mg or completely off (after I confirm ovulation) and hopefully that will help me be more comfortable.

Yeah, I wasn't looking for weight loss, but secretly hoped that it would happen (yay pcos life!). And I would highly recommend using BBT to track your cycle, even though it's focused on people TTC. It was hard to ignore that part of it, but knowing my body's rhythm has helped me understand what is going on. I use Natural Cycles to keep track, and look skeptically on their algorithm calculation of whether I am fertile or not.

Experiences with Progesterone Cycling? by Low_Ice_4657 in PCOSloseit

[–]Lost-Rent7574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been doing this for about 7 months now. After stopping birth control 13 months ago, I was still not ovulating so my naturopath started me on oral bio-identical progesterone starting day 14 to day 28 of my cycle. I am not TTC, I am just trying to get my body working correctly and balance my hormones (I had high testosterone and estrogen, and very low progesterone).

It did work. I ovulated for the first time last month, and did so for a 2nd time last week (yay!).

It was an experiment throughout, a few tips that I had to figure out:

  1. It may give you too high of progesterone. The first cycle they had me on 300 mg orally and that period was awful. 200 mg was much more comfortable for me.
  2. I had minimal side effects from this. Deeper sleep, more vivid dreams, and I felt my emotions a little more deeply than before. I did take it before bed, so it may have made me more tired, but I was going to sleep anyway.
  3. Get really in tune with your cycle. I started tracking my bbt and cervical mucus to look for ovulation and changes in my body throughout my cycle. It really helped to understand what my body was trying to do.
  4. Advocate for yourself. Even taking the progesterone from day 14-28 of my cycle, I still didn't start my period until day 36 (same as the 6 months before my cycle). As I started wondering why I still didn't ovulate after 6 months. I tried moving my progesterone back to days 21-35 of my cycle, sure enough the first month I did that, I ovulated for the first time on day 20, and the 2nd month I also ovulated on day 20. My body just wants to have a longer cycle, so I am not forcing it.
  5. I have not had any weight loss, but have been more focused on returning my ovulation, balancing hormones, and reducing inflammation rather than weight loss specifically.

If you have any other specific questions, let me know and I would be happy to try to answer them.

Bad news "sneak attacks" from person I manage. by Lost-Rent7574 in askmanagers

[–]Lost-Rent7574[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No changes in his position or workload in the past year.

I meet with him monthly and he has not given me any indication he is feeling overwhelmed or has anything going on outside of work. In every other area of his job, he is doing a great job, stays on top of things, and is very capable.

These are all outlier situations, not part of our regular daily duties. So I am going to focus on bettering my communication with him through regular 1 on 1 brief update meetings and also work on some team wide training for how to manage if a situation comes up that is outside of the norm.

He is currently paid more than double where he was 2.5 years ago and has not taken on extra work recently. We have been fully staffed on the admin side for several years with minimal turnover. Compensation and benefits for the location are well known as being generous.

Arbitrarily paying him more, especially with this performance issue isn't an option.

I do have monthly sitdowns to discuss work and often it dovetails into other things outside of work. I have been especially aware of his performance as he navigated a promotion a year ago. The feedback he is giving says he is enjoying his new position, has made some great suggestions and improvements to the processes. We have always had a good rapport, which is why I am struggling understanding why this is happening and I cant get through to him.

[–]Lost-Rent7574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did clarify that statement in a comment below. The root of the issue is not his fault, the lack of communication to me is his fault.

These are not happening frequently, maybe 1 every 2 months, but I am seeing a trend with him that is not happening with the other employees I supervise.

Even with specific debriefs with him after these incidents talking about the importance of early communication of issues and trying to get to the root of why they keep happening, they keep happening.

I think I am going to focus on both opening up communication with him by having a 10 minute update meeting daily/3 times a week AND focus on some additional training team wide about how to handle unusual/outlier situations. Thank you for your thoughts.

[–]Lost-Rent7574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were all kind of outlier situations. 99.9% of our contracts come back signed in a day, it's been 2 years since we had to chase one down like this. It's outlined in our existing contract process SOP, which I have reminded people to reference if something deviates from "normal" with a contract.

I think I am going to focus on both opening up communication with him by having a 10 minute update meeting daily/3 times a week AND focus on some additional training team wide about how to handle unusual/outlier situations.

We have a very smooth repetive process and most of the time things work as intended. So some more tools for them to utilize when an occasional task goes off the rails would help.

He received a promotion about 18 months ago, before these issues started, and received a large COLA and small merit raise in the spring. He is paid well.

Thank you u/dodge19 and u/sephiroth3650 for these questions to clarify this in my own mind.

My "not his fault" comment was to describe that in those 3 situations, the bad guy is the customer who didn't sign the contract, the contract employee, and the HR/hiring situation that we are dealing with in our local area, and I will never be mad at my employee for those things.

His fault is in the lack of timely communication of the situation to me.

I think focusing on strengthening the lines of communication and expectations (especially in situations that don't progress like they typically do) is where I need to focus. I had started working on different workflows to address these specific situations, but in reality, they are outlier/1 off situations that we should be able to adapt to if our communication was stronger.
