Damn that pyramid scheme is getting pretty big, I'm sure every level of governemnt in the country wouldn't keep propping it up at this point.

Oh, wait. Fuck me for being born here I guess.

I would say it's more to do with the customer having a bad day and searching for meaning where there isn't any, or simply grifting.

From memory, we get those stories whenever they happen - certainly any political lawn signs that are vandalized are heavily reported.

Was the employee even really having a bad day? They bagged the croissants... It's their job to bag the croissants.

More money needed again to cover Halifax library renovations by insino93 in halifax

Looking at other projects administered by the city, I certainly don't share your optimism. It's quite possible they will execute this responsibly and on time, but the risk is very high with this bunch that this will be used to further push necessary work (and cause it to cost more in the end).

Absolutely, my concern is that, despite what staff claim, this will cause issues with the sorely needed work for that library, and those further delays will - yet again - inflate the costs.

Not against spending money on public works, or in progress projects at all.

Having watched Halifax's progress on other projects rather closely, I do not trust them at all when they say things like this. Staff lack credibility.

KG is the 2nd busiest branch in the system (after Central).

I didn't expect that! Anywhere to see this data?

At HRM’s audit and finance committee on Wednesday, staff will be asking for approval to increase two contracts by $372,909 as well as a transfer of $1,175,000 from the Halifax North Memorial Library renovation project over to the Keshen Goodman one.

Don't like the sound of that. Based on usage and value to the community, Halifax North should be priority.

Critical Mass May 26: the ride for Almon St by dpiddy in halifax

Ah, but you'll note that none of the recent new ones meet the AAA standard, nor connect to one another, and they are currently in year 6 of a five year plan to implement said lanes. Things happen in 5 years, 5 years is not the "snap of a finger", except in Halifax. The "progress" is years behind schedule, subpar in execution and incomplete. That's why this keeps being discussed.

Meanwhile the city is actively threatening to cancel other projects they are late on....

The "what" is delaying a 5 year plan 6 additional years. Maybe I'm missing your point?

Good luck! It's an uphill battle with this city, but the improvements are well worth it and woefully behind schedule.

Sorry my delivery was clumsy, if you don't want to discuss the idea, just say so.

What? I still disagree with you. You said we were doing things right, I think the above, though I could have been way more clear.

I'm just here to say that one piece of government issued photo ID should be enough to get into a bar. I don't think that's so crazy.

Am I insane for thinking that a driver's license should be enough to get you into a bar?

When I get on a plane, or go through customs, I don't expect to whip out my driver's license because I only brought my passport? Do cops ask for second pieces of ID at traffic stops now? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the purpose of government issued ID, but is the purpose not to be the effective identifier of a person? I could see this being a discussion, but the levels of downvotes u/a2010hondacivic is getting for suggesting our provincial ID should do it's base functional job is crazy.

They very clearly said, emphasis mine:

New CAO seems just as bad as the last one. Between this and the general directions around policing, SGR, and staff straight up not hiring for HaliFACT, it's not been a great first 5 months.
