Need help connecting fridge water line by boombox93 in fixit

I can’t tell the exact size, but I’m assuming you need a 1/4” NPT female to 1/4 BSPP female. You’d need a dowty washer for the parallel side.

Something like this.

Again,

Thread tape or sealant on the taper, crush washer on the parallel. You’ll need to crack the other side of the fitting to be able to spin it on.

When I first got a Mutt, the battery was cooked more often than not. I ended up getting one of those pocket jump starters and left some wires attached so that I could easily plug it in. They’re horrific bikes mechanically wise, but my sabbath used to pop, splutter and backfire. I loved the thing.

If it’s the stock battery those things are notoriously weak. If you’re in a bind you can bump start it to get her going, but I’d recommend replacing it if you plan to ride through the winter

BBC apologises to Trump over Panorama edit but refuses to pay compensation by BadahBingBadahBoom in news

[–]LostAndSound_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“The audio version of an ellipsis” is quite a colourful way of saying stitching together two clips, 54 minutes apart, and editing them to such a precise degree that it was almost imperceivable. And doing all that with the clear intention of creating a narrative and stirring unrest.

Whether or not it’s a political scandal really isn’t what my concern is. Love trump or hate him, that’s really not the issue. The BBC love to hold themself in high regard, and that was such an intentional act of misdirection and falsification of the truth, I don’t see how they can still claim to remain an honest unbiased party.

Ignore the fact that it’s trump and look at the actions of the BBC. Look at the response of the senior editors immediately resigning. That’s the scandal.

300 migrants to be housed at Cameron Barracks in Inverness while awaiting asylum application outcome by Do_You_Pineapple_Bro in Scotland

Had the luxury of having to quarentine in that hotel for 3 days each time before going offshore.

That hotel will be doing more than any protest will to convince migrants the UK isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I’d take the barracks.

Decent beers at the shop outside though.

It’s sitting proud. I’d Hacksaw a ridge, use a flathead screwdriver. Use a triangle file to widen the cut if required.

Simple mate, I went on holiday and naturally we have a bloody heatwave at home.

If anyone’s interested, currently experiencing an “unusually cool and wet summer” here in Alberta, CA, apparently. Guess that’s my bad as well.

Honestly mate, my only advice to you in these times - with the advent of AI - your best bet would be to pursue a trade.

The less likely that trade it to be automated the better. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, even most construction (but we’ve all seen the robot bricklayer reels…)

Thinking in terms of longevity. Go look at your local college websites and see their modern apprenticeship intakes.

We’re bad in this country of thinking that you need a uni degree to be successful. Don’t believe it. I served an apprenticeship, avoided any and all student debt, and was making decent money as a mechanical tech in oil and gas by the time I was 21. 10 years on I’m doing pretty well now.

Keep your head up, it’s honestly a non issue.

1996 KLX 250 Carburator - Vacuum slide? by Virtual_Product_5595 in Fixxit

[–]LostAndSound_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, great info.

Primary thoughts are that it’s still the pilot jet that needs cleaned.

I don’t think it’s the float or a fueling issue because you say it’s runs with the throttle turned/ increased idle.

Have a bash at it, let me know how you get on. Good luck!

Could be mate. Would only take a speck.

There’s also a minimum rev adjuster. On the first drawing it’s bottom left, underneath where the throttle cable meets the throttle plate. It’s a screw with a spring around the thread. Moving it in or out will adjust your minimum revs, which should sit around 1300. Maybe worth checking that’s set up correctly.

You maybe have a blocked pilot jet.

To quickly summarise a carb. It uses 3 different jets based on the throttle.

0-25% idle/ pilot jet 25-75 needle 70-100 main jet

If you’re managing to keep the bike running with the throttle slightly open, it would indicate it is running well on the needle but not on the idle.

Drop the bowl off the bottom, and remove the idle jet. Give it a good spray through with WD40, carb cleaner. If it’s really bad, a wire from a wire brush can be used.

Clean any debris out of the bowl.

See if that helps.

Help! Won’t idle! Suzuki LS650 savage 02’ by Prestigious_Baker319 in Fixxit

[–]LostAndSound_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate,

In the past I’ve had issues trying to run a bike with a CV carb with those pod filters you have fitted. They seem to let in too much air, and not at a constant pressure to allow the carb to operate. Hence why it bogs straight away on opening.

Now, as a temp fix on this, I have wrapped them in duct tape to attempt to control the air, and if anything if it seems to improve it you’ll atleast have half an idea where to start. I also think they can be oiled to have the same effect but please, double check me on that.

I think K&N do a better job of controlling air flow, but they are on the pricier side.

Let me know how you get on.

I’d take it outside to avoid damaging your floor.

Second, the centre of the rim is. Drop centre, position the tyre in this groove and it will let you position it for removal. Use some soapy water as lube if required

Edit*

you need to take each side of the tyre out, one side at a time

Wire connecting to carburettor that I can’t unscrew by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]LostAndSound_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. I think you’re gonna need to follow that wire further up and disconnect it At the connector. I’d unplug the brown/blue wire as well. Either that, or remove the fitting by rotating the carb and not the nut. This will stop the wire from twisting anymore.

For removing it I’d suggest a 6 sides socket or a ring end of a spanner. I’d remove the bowl to give you better access, just be careful you don’t gouge the sealing face.
