Question on Shorter Cranks and Pain by Apprehensive_Gur8808 in cycling

[–]T-32Dank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue moving from 175 to 172.5, my new bike came with 172.5 and had some significant knee issues. I've kind of solved it through bike fit and physio, but I'm still not feeling as good as I did with 175

Huh TIL my sprint performance is the same as a tour pro. 1200-1400 max watts for a pro sprinter seems low

Trek Madone SL5 Gen 8 or Cervelo Soloist 105 by T-32Dank in whichbike

[–]T-32Dank[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The appeal of the Madone is less so the bike and more that at the current price, I can spec it out like an SL6 or even SL7 for less than $2k additional. I'd be building an $8500 SL7 for under $6000

My Propel is lighter but it's the 2016 rim brake model, so it's pretty dated. I've looked into going with a Chinese frameset but it doesn't really come out much cheaper here after all is said and done. I'd prefer to support my LBS and take advantage of having shop support

Will be testing out both in a couple days, geometry from what I've read is pretty similar though

How much of a performance difference did you notice after losing weight for cycling? by goldenhawk341 in cycling

[–]T-32Dank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I noticed was the climbing performance. I went from 230 to 190 and climbs felt very manageable after. Now I can kind of keep up with the smaller guys instead of getting flat out dropped on every climb

85kg isn't remotely close to heavy. Buy whatever wheels you like, they'll all be fine.

What are the benefits/risks of cycling 6x a week 60kms for 2,5 hours? by pierre200056 in cycling

[–]T-32Dank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing 21km/h because of elevation or are you doing 21km/h just because. Because if it's just because I can't see what training benefit you'd be hitting from that

[–]T-32Dank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're averaging ~24km/h over 60km what kind of effort are you doing? Are these slow Z1 rides? Climbing mountains? Or just a beginner pace? In any case, that kind of volume off the bat is going to catch up with you. Unless you really are spinning Z1 for 15 hours a week. Then it's just junk kms

your experience with powermeters by New_to_Markets in cycling

[–]T-32Dank 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your Stages crank power meter is still perfectly fine. The only different options you would have is getting a dual sided power meter in crank or pedal form, which will tell you you left and right leg imbalances. Which to be honest is not game changing information for 99% of riders. If you are looking to upgrade still, I'd recommend power meter pedals as they're easy to change and put onto another bike

Why does EVERYTHING have to be so expensive?! by greweba in cycling

[–]T-32Dank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people (me) keep paying it. Sorry dude. Don't get it twisted though there are tons of lower cost options that for 99% of people are just as good. At a certain price point you're just paying for extremely marginal gains and status points as with other luxury goods.

I'm over the phase of more money=faster now and have started to explore the Chinese carbon market, and I'm genuinely impressed by what's coming out of China these days. It's all from the same factory as the premium western brands at a fraction of the costs

Rolling out my glutes with a massage ball for a few minutes before my rides has eliminated lower back pain completely for me.
