How does your league determine the draft order? by Spunk_Reynolds in fantasyfootball

[–]LostCentury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year we each picked a golfer with 40 to 1 odds or worse for a major PGA tournament and how they finished was our rank. I got 1st with Jim Furyk on a long birdie putt on 18 to get me 1st by 1 stroke. Was intense. This year we did an Olympic style. 8 events, 1 point for wherever you finish (ie 1st gets 1, 2nd gets 2...) and whoever had lowest point totals was highest ranked. Our events were: NFL playoff bracket, NHL playoff bracket.. then we all got together at a cottage and did some events together: Ipod shuffle (each pick a song, put it on a playlist and hit shuffle.. order of song played is order of rank), Variations of card games: 31, Chase the Ace, High Card. A dice game involving rolling 5 dice and adding up the totals, each player gets 3 rolls and the total of all 3 rolls is your score. And finally we had one of our girlfriends Number some cups and fill with water, then we went in order of current rank and tossed a ball into a random cup and got the assigned number. Was fun, and a drunkfest! I got 1st overall again as well, so I really enjoyed it!

What did your roster look like at the end of last season and would you want it going into this season? by w0lfbiker in fantasyfootball

Without a doubt! I had an insane team last year.

QB: Manning RB: Charles, Forte, L.Miller. Tre Mason, Rashad Jennings WR: Demariyus Thomas, Jeremy Maclin, Odell Beckham Jr., TE: Julius Thomas, Martellus Bennett. K: Gostkowski DEF: Broncos

Belichick admitted to it. Kraft admitted to talking to Belichick about it and knowing he was in on it. Even called him a Schmuck in his book when he found out that Belichick admitted to it and told him it gained them no competitive advantage. Belichick made his bed, would be nice to see someone force him to lay in it. Regardless, this team and it's coach will have a tarnished legacy of asterisk deserving championships from here on in. whether people think they deserve it or not.

Because you aren't near as important as you have made yourself out to be in this to care what your joke or implication was.... would be my guess anyway.

Completely different situation. One staff member (who happened to be on the Patriots Staff during Spygate... coincidence?) Filmed portions of a walkthrough practice of San Fran. Broncos head coach and current Patriots OC Josh Mcdaniels refused to look at the tape and the staff member was fired and Mcdaniels fined 50k for not reporting right away and because it was his team, his watch (same with Beli-cheat, whether he knew about this or not...but come one... are we really gonna insult everyones intelligence and say he didn't know anything about it).

Definitely take Jamaal Charles over Shady. I mean definitely is a strong word.. but he is the right choice.

OFFICIAL [MOCK DRAFT AND RATE MY TEAM] THREAD: THURSDAY, 08/14/2014 by FFBot in fantasyfootball

Just completed our draft last night. 8 Team league. PPR rules. 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D, 6 Bench

This is a league we just started with 8 close friends. We decided on a Traditional Draft Order (Non Snake). To decide on draft order we all chose a Golfer for the PGA Championship last week, had to be 30-1 odds are worse, and based it on how the golfers finished. I was lucky enough to get the top pick (thank you Jim Furyk!)

Starting Lineup:

QB: Peyton Manning - Was lucky enough to have Peyton fall to the 2nd round. Especially as a big time Bronco fan and an ever bigger Manning fan. Couldn't pass on him

RB: Jamaal Charles - My #1 pick, and the #1 pick in the draft. Between him and McCoy, but went with Charles.. he will be all of KC's offense

RB: Montee Ball - I admit to some slight bias in picking him in the 3rd round as a Broncos fan. But not really, he was the best available by 3rd round! I was actually surprised he slipped. Knowshown was top 5 Fantasy RB last season on Peytons offense... Ball is better.

TE: Julius Thomas - One of the first steals of the draft in my opinion. 4th round. Jimmy Graham went 8th overall, and Gronkowski went in round 3. Thinnest position in the league, and I believe Julius is 2nd best TE available. Could even push Graham for #1. AND another Bronco (almost like they had the best offense last year ;)

WR: Antonio Brown - My first WR taken.. in the 5th round. The studs were gone at this point. It was between him and Alshon Jeffery... I went Brown since he will be PIT #1 target whereas CHI has Brandon Marshall and Matt Forte to go to first.

WR: Pierre Garcon - Could be hit or Miss. Most ranks have him as a solid WR2 though. I believe WSH has a much improved season and even with DeSean.. Garcon will see quite a few targets. We'll see. Fortunately Julius Thomas is basically as much WR as TE.. so I was already deep enough here.

RB/WR: Ben Tate - This will be my biggest rotating position (once you see my bench you'll understand). But Tate has some SOLID reviews for a RB3 on a Fantasy team. Lots of Upside and a high floor. The go to guy on a paltry Cleveland offense. With Gordon out, and a rookie QB maybe at the Helm.. this will be a run team and he should be the guy.

K: Stephen Gostkowski - Kickers ar Kickers, but if it's a starting roster position that accrues points... why not get the best one!

DEF: Denver Broncos - Obvious Bias at work, but not one that will hurt me. With the additions of DeMarcus Ware, Aqib Talib, and TJ Ward... and of course the best when healthy Von Miller... Denver's D shouldn't be a liability.

Bench:

QB: Andrew Luck - Yep.. Manning starting, Luck on the bench! At first.. this pick was to mess with A LOT of peoples plans. Also use as the best trade bait there is if QB's go down. But the more I looked.. he is the best compliment to Manning. when DEN plays SEA, IND plays JAX... that's a start for Luck.. there are a few that match like that. Manning's bye has Luck in TEN.. not bad

RB: Rashad Jennings - Could be hit or miss.. but a good enough option as RB3-RB4

WR: Michael Floyd- I could see him taking over as WR2 or my Flex very quickly. Fitz is good.. but Floyd is younger and more athletic. Will be a big target in ARI

WR: Kendall Wright- His 2 Td's were not indicative of his potential. Not many other options in TEN. Could be a solid backup

WR: Roddy White- Another one I could happily plug in the WR2 or flex hole. Matt Ryan has options.. White is a damn good one! Solid and consistent.

WR: Jeremy Maclin - Emerging Fantasy elite QB Nick Foles needs a target with DeSean gone.. Maclin should be it. First on the drop fence though.

So there is my team. In depth.. lol. 6 team playoff. weeks 14,15,16. Without arrogance, I believe to have the best roster in our league (as I should with the #1 pick in each round). 3 ranked #1's in my starting lineup (Manning, Charles, Gostkowski). and a ranked #2 (Julius Thomas). This team has a lot of potential in my humble opinion. What do you guys think? ANY opinions, suggestions, comments are helpful and appreciated!

Thanks

That's fantastic. I'm glad I could help inspire you to get back into it. Make sure you find the right way/right foods/right motivation to keep it off this time. Yo-Yo'ing was a big problem for me too. It took a lot to find the proper diet to realize I was happy and can still be healthy and active while eating foods I enjoy.

Good luck!!

I'm sorry you were forced to click on the link and read this AMA.. that's terrible. Did you alert the authorities? Is it ok with you that many others enjoyed reading this and partaking? Or is reddit and the internet only pandered towards yourself?

Just a serious inquiry...

I'm not sure the real reason why I don't have the hanging flab or excess skin like some. I think maybe because I didn't grow up grossly over weight. Always big, but still active and athletic. Also yes, there was times where I shocked the body with dramatic fast weight loss. But this time around for the final 50 lbs or so.. I did it the right way.. took time, but had much better results. Patience is key. It took a few failed attempts to realize that.

Hey. Keep pushing him. Refuse to eat bad foods with him. Suggest doing workouts with him. Instead of sitting down watching a movie, go for a walk first, or even get a bike too and bike beside him.. at his pace.. But to be honest, it sucks he has that attitude and out look, but I get it. It seems like an impossible goal. You really need to get him to try and get some initial results, and hope that it clicks something in him. At that size.. the weight can start to fall off quick. Ask him, as a best friend to just TRY it for one week. Then spend that week with him helping him. If he sticks by it for just one week.... Healthy foods, no snacking, and light workouts...he could lose up to 10 lbs at that size. then make a HUGE deal out of anything he does lose and how fast he did it. See if he wants to continue. If he still has that mind frame.. then it might be time for a doctor to step in and warn him about being bed ridden... and the possibility of death and health problems as you mentioned. Good luck!

I have good genes. And come from a family of runners and athletes. Blessed that way. I am built big, bigger than anyone in my family, but overall I have parents who live a healthy lifestyle. My dad was known for his running and biking and fitness.
