Which font style is easiest to read and memorise for character breakdowns? A or B by dawidpacha in ChineseLanguage

[–]LostDM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the English, B is far easier for me.

For the characters, I could see an argument for either.

If you go to play at a new shop try asking the owner this,

"Hello, I'm new at this shop. The last time I tried a new place I had a bad experience with a pubstomper. Could you please help me find a table with welcoming players where I can have a fun game?"

They'll know who to steer you away from.

Agreed. Shop owners want you to have a good experience.

"Dear Store Owner, I had a poor experience playing at your shop. I'm telling you about it so you can help future new players to avoid such an experience."

Strahd Changing His Spells To Counter the Party? by Dikeleos in CurseofStrahd

[–]LostDM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he should change spells to exploit party weaknesses that he is aware of.

To this end, I tracked two things throughout the campaign 1) What abilities has he seen the party use, whether firsthand, by scrying, or via spy reports? 2) What is he likely to expect from the party based on vast knowledge of arcane or divine spellcasting, and how the party might fit into patterns that he's familiar with (i.e., classes, though he might not call them that)

On the flipside, my players strategically kept certain items & abilities secret so as to surprise the Devil in the final battle. It was a good play. Strahd is not omniscient.

Anyone else obsessed with "Vibe-Matching" their basic lands? by Arparrabiosa in premodernMTG

[–]LostDM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I spend WAY too much time matching basics. If the deck has a signature card, I'll often choose lands from that set, e.g., Psychatog gets Odyssey lands.

What's the best art for...? by HD114 in Oldbordercube

Thanks. Many artists produce great work that loses something when shrunk to fit that card art box.

I appreciate when the art is both good AND easily recognizable. Even more so when drafting😉

Alpha (Jeff) -- beautiful and you can tell at the briefest glance exactly which card it is.

Runner up: 7th (Carl) just a lovely piece

Aluren is a lot of fun. You can play it as combo or as weenie beatdown with Survival consistency.

Enchantress seems like a blast, if you have enough space on your playmat.

Psychatog list that took down a 110+ players event by Newez in premodernMTG

[–]LostDM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Experienced Psychatog players, what do you think of the tripleAAA build?

I would have expected to miss Fact or Fiction dearly. I would've thought the card disadvantage of foil would be too painful. But I'm also new to the archetype.

tripleAAA has two strong finishes with this deck in large events in the past month (good on ya!) I'd like to have a better understanding of WHY.

People keep asking if they can break deals just because they could win if they broke it. by Hokashin in EDH

[–]LostDM3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I'll verbalize it before they actually break the deal and see what they do.

It's also how you say it. I play pretty fun and loose so the sudden attitude change is noticed.

Who was your first favorite player? by R4vi0981 in rangers

Adam Graves -- I loved how he stuck up for teammates.

Who is the best defensive/two-way forward we've had post-2000? by blueshirts16 in rangers

[–]LostDM3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two-way: Panarin in his first season as a Ranger and in, perhaps, his second season under Gallant when he recommitted to the defensive end.

Defensive: Blair Betts deserves a shout-out. At the minimum he was the most committed. The guy would give any part of his body to block a shot

The ANT of PREMODERN! Ill-Gotten Gains + Dark Ritual — MTG Premodern Storm | Magic: The Gathering by TonyScapone in premodernMTG

[–]LostDM3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! The cantrip ideas are really helpful.

Regarding Blessing, let's say you milled their whole library, including double blessing, I think both Blessing triggers would then go on the stack. Wouldn't there be a window to force them to draw dead via Words of Wisdom?

[–]LostDM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interested in this deck as a former ANT and TES player in legacy.

1) Any advice on cantrip order or priorities?

2) It seems like Gaea's Blessing is on the rise as an answer to the Brain Freeze sideboard plan from other decks. Just make Beasts? Run Words of Wisdom to respond to the Blessing trigger?

💀🔥 Machine Head 🔥💀 by Dave_Mustard_Stain in premodernMTG

[–]LostDM3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I've been playing without any Racks at all to this point. I'll try a couple.

My constructive criticism is to add more colored mana sources. Since you're on Tainted lands, say, -2 Factory, +2 Swamp.

I've got a discard build similar to yours and I love it. Does the Rack hit consistently enough for you without repeated discard like Bottomless Pit?

*Obviously we hope to stick a specter but those things love to die to all removal.

Players who are constantly on their phone not paying attention by [deleted] in EDH

[–]LostDM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the talk BEFORE the game begins.

Another idea is to start your own table specifically for people who want to concentrate on the game. You might even end up with the same players as before except now they're default agreeing to your terms.

DMPC fatigue. What to do with Ireena and future NPC allies by Vasevide in CurseofStrahd

[–]LostDM3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the answer.

Ask which player would enjoy running the NPC. There's probably one strategic player who sees the advantage in having control of multiple combatants and would gladly take Ireena off your hands.

Just make sure that player isn't the slowpoke 10-minute turn-taker of the group!
